Welcome to my latest video for @Khon Kaen Den. In this video, I talk about four different ways to say "yes" and "no" in Thai. There are other ways (and more in depth ways) but I keep it simple. Don't forget, if you like this video, like subscribe and comment. Hope you enjoy, Den.
Thankyou Den for yr clear explanations. I like your teaching method It’s definitely very helpful and easy to understand . Appreciate it. 😊 look forward to more yr video.
Thank you so much for your kind words, Haley! There will be many more videos on speaking Thai uploaded over the coming weeks and months. Watch this space. Cheers, Den.
It might seem confusing at first, but everyone will get the hang of it. Just be patient. You couldn`t have explained this any better. Well done, but I don`t have to tell you that. Beau must have been a tremendously good teacher for you (and your Thai students?). While she is giving you some lessons, I am sure you return the favour by giving her daily pointers and lessons in English too. I spent 10 years learning Norwegian, and couldn`t have done it without those every day small lessons here and there. They also have a special tone in their language, oh my.. Thanks, Den, another great lesson 😊😊
Hey, Sarlina. Yeah, I agree: confusing at first, but with time served, you get there!!! Actually, I am self-taught (before I met Beau), though she helps tremendously with written Thai and those annoying nuances that come with ANY language. Likewise, as you say, I do help her with English (though she is better than me half of the time haha). I agree that it is TOTALLY about the "daily" lessons and pointers that transform you from someone "trying " to speak a language to someone who sounds half decent! Norwegians do, indeed, have a special tone. Met many people from Norway (quite a few in KK). When they speak Norwegian in full flow, they can actually sound quite aggressive!!! Funny to listen to. Anyway, take care, and speak soon... OH!!! IF you are VERY BORED, just started my Khon Kaen Den Facebook page with a daft "trailer". I think it's quite funny! Can be seen here: facebook.com/khonkaenden/videos/1081150749907158 I will be adding lots of daily stuff to it soon. Have a wonderful day, Den!
You are an inspiration Den. Your heart, professionalism and tenacity to delivery Thailand & more specifically, life as we know it, shines in your videos ✅ You are on a roll now 🥳❤️
Thanks so much, Ally! Quite tough putting the speaking Thai vids together, but people seem to benefit from them so long may it continue. Thanks again, Den.
@@KhonKaenDen Yes, people seem to be enjoying them and I think your teaching background enables you to cover the subject well and that also gives you 'authority' in what you present ✅
@@chiangmaiweathertoday Hmmmm... who is this secret ChiangMaiWeatherToday guy? Thanks so much again for your kind words (not) Ally... I really do enjoy making them though they are tough. I see it as a challenge and if it helps a few people along the way, then it has served its purpose. Thanks again, Ally!
Hello Dennis! I'm loving the Speak Thai videos. I'm retiring to Thailand (Chiang Mai) in three years and bringing my mother and son with me. I respect the Thai culture and people very much and will do my best to learn as much Thai as I can before I get there. I hope you are able to keep creating these lessons for us out here in the interwebs. I know your channel is going to grow and I'm glad I subscribed in your first few months. Liked, subbed and dinged the bell for all notifications. You're a great teacher, thank you!
Thank you so much for your kind words and for subscribing! You will love Chiang Mai for sure... I love visiting the place. If I wasn't settled in Khon Kaen already, that would be my go-to choice. Actually, I have just completed a video on places to live in Thailand which will be out very soon! There will also be many more videos on speaking Thai uploaded over the coming weeks and months. Watch this space. Cheers, Den.
Hello Den, just watched the latest video on learning Thai. I would worry to much about the noise as to me I am use to it, it's Thailand tho my Thai/farlang lady moans about it all the time. I call her that because she's moans about the heat, noise, traffic, walking & only wants to speak English ... swap anyone. As you know I stayed Thailand over 2 yrs and still not over the Thai barrier, I feel is that I live with professional Thai speaker...a Thai talk so quick. What I want to do is expand my vocab and your video was a reminder to me that I say reply differently the "daai" is not something I am saying to much. So I use your lessons as a refresher course 🙏. Hope you are well after your ear surgery, Champions had a good weekend ..Doku .., champions LGE 3am thanks BST ...have my run/swim 7am .. Anyway Chelsea weekend ...3pts easy ..
Hi, Peter. Just had a couple of days out as I have been a little burnt out. Anyway, I am kind of back now. As for the noise, same here to matey... you get used to it. Talking quickly is an issue I have with Thais sometimes... but think about it, I speak really fast when talking with friends. It is easy to do the same with Thais (or the other way round). Just ask her to speak slowly... I am sure she will. Glad that my lessons are of some help! There is more to come of course... and so happy that city have now qualified for the champions league knock out. Routine win last night! Doku is, as you say, awesome! On to Sunday and Chelski!!!! 3 points for sure! Have an awesome day, Den.
Hey, fella. Yeah, it is usually the case. But, just for one morning or an afternoon, just go out by yourself. Totally alone. Walk about and say hello/hi to the locals... before you know it, you will be having a conversation. It may be tough, but just nod and smile and point (that's what I did at first) and they may know a few English words etc. In fact, I DARE you to do it. You will love it, I promise. All the best, Den.
You Rock Den! You make it fun to learn and you have a great delivery. We plan on coming over from the states in a few years and will be heading out to collect wild Betta and other tropical fish so needless to say we will be rural and don’t expect to meet many English speaking locals. 😂
Can an education visa be arranged in Khon Kaen or Udon Thani? Can you also handle long-term accommodation, with a one-month rent and one-month bond payment at a time? (Apologies for the numerous inquiries.)
Hi. I am very sure that you can arrange an education VISA in Khon Kaen. Not sure about Udon Thani, but pretty sure that it can be done there too. Try thins link for Khon Kaen University. They offer Thai lessons (I think, though might me an oldish link): facebook.com/khonkaenden/videos/1081150749907158 As for rent, in Khon Kaen (and probably most places), most people who rent require 1 months rent + 1 (or 2) months deposit). In other words, 2-3 months rent costs in total for long-term accommodation. I will try and make a video on this subject very soon. Hope this helps, Den.

Cheers, Shaun Your kind words inspire me to keep going!!!! Thanks again, Den.
