During the last steam fest I downloaded this demo on a whim not expecting anything big. I was totally blown away at how solid the demo was. It slowly immersed me then had me begging for more when the demo was over. I knew right away that I want the full version of this game and didn't want to play the demo again to prevent any potential spoilers or early burn out. The art work is so refreshing for me, something I have not experienced before. Really surprised to hear this is a small development team, it feels like a lot of work went into it. It seems they also have great quality management to pull off such a solid demo.

I'm not the only person to raise this, there are several videos on the platform voicing similar sentiments, but I worry about the trend of games that mash together bits and bobs from their favorite games and don't offer anything more that a fresh coat of paint. You usually end up with a game that's a jack of all trades and master of none. I hope I'm wrong about that here, _Mirthwood_ seems promising, but I can't shake the feeling that this will be less than the sum of its parts rather than the more everyone is hoping for. And more broadly, I'm worried that the indie community is rewarding the wrong things lately and it's leading towards games that debut well, sell well, but don't really offer much a month later. It's everything I worried about when Game Pass first showed up, games designed to get noticed and generate buzz but that aren't backed up with interesting mechanics and gameplay, it's the fast-fashion mindset infiltrating indie games.

I actually played the demo a little bit and it looks promesing. I think you can play pretty unice characters in this game.

The style looks really good, though I'm unsure if I wanna try yet another farming game... Adult life forces me to sway towards story-focused games.

I did notice the double dose of eggs games from the summer game trailers and it's funny it coincided with Artic Eggs. I saw there was a game jam with the theme of egg that happened recently too.

I know you said recent games, but for us old UK folk (should that be yolk?) the classic egg franchise is Dizzy. 12 games with a fragile egg as protagonist.
