I’m glad to know the floor is lava strat was the intended solution. There’s no worse feeling (imo) then figuring out the alternate solution to a puzzle but not being able to figure out the intended solution. Case in point: Fez
Honestly, given what an. Interesting person Phil Fish is, I'm half-convinced the Black Monolith puzzle was specifically designed to be unsolvable out of some kind of spite.
@@cah137-y4s The Black monolith and Red heart puzzle were (probably) left with no real solution because of a meta narrative message. That message being to stop chasing enlightenment beyond what the media and creator can give the audience. Or Phil was just trolling lol

I know the little fella you play as has been called a "Mexican jumping bean" by the dev. A Mexican jumping bean is actually a seed with a moth egg inside it and the "jumping" comes from the larva trying to move around usually into shade. A lot like an egg if you think about it. It also makes sense how you turn into a moth eventually. When the larva is grown it emerges from the seed as a moth.
Also on the website you mentioned there is a bit of text by the person that runs the website, Dan Adelman, that essentially explains that the big things that they were aware of and not sure if they were solvable have been found and there probably is a few small things and maybe things that Billy forgot or never told him about.
Yup, found out about that glass not being breakable myself, pulled the chimera all the way up there to try but with no avail.
I don’t know what the flowers are referring to but “let the flowers guide you” gave me some ideas.
We know the outside area and the well are overlapping in some way because when you destroy the blocks on the final floating island, blocks in the well get destroyed.
I wonder if the flowers aren’t a guide for inside the well, but outside. You can maybe follow their path via manticore/wings and then that will lead somewhere? Maybe more blocks to break that will let you past the glass.
You may be onto something here...
My favorite tool is also the slinky. It behaves like nothing else you've seen in a videogame. Finding it made me ecstatic.
Also the flowers hint comes from 2 years old versions of the game that we have access to because of how steam works, and Billy knows about it. So maybe he felt like it'd be more fair to give the hint away to everyone (i'm speculating).
Woah, I wouldn't put it past him to put a secret in a previous but still accessible version that gives you a song you play in the current version
On the subject of the flowers, has anyone tried plotting all of their locations on a map? Maybe there’s something meaningful there, like an arrow that points to a hidden room or the positions forming sheet music that can be used to play a secret song.

Ghost dog is obviously a dog but thats based on context clues (the other dogs, the fact that he chases you for a frisbee). In terms of visual design, it clearly resembles a cat more than a dog, so I don't fault anyone at all for looking it and seeing a cat.
Also, I've always assumed the main character is a water drop. Explains a lot of things to me.
i do animal rehab with kangaroos - it made me very happy to hear the dev tried to mimic their weird bark! i didn't realise at first over the dunkey noises, but it set in over time, HAHA.
I'm interested in the lanterns - red, green and blue. Those three colours are what our eyes can see and they're used for bit rates in colour. There might be something you can do with this info. Maybe add up all the lanterns to get a code or reveal a specific colour which has something happen there, in game with.
I always thought these were suspicious too 🤔
Under UV some of them show lines.
Maybe something to do with the morale but the green is linked to the yellow? like if yea mark them on the map and make a match on morale it shows something maybe a code?
The dimensions of the bunny mural are also quite close to the dimensions of tiles on the screen. I was actually expecting the lamps to be hints on how to fill the mural, before I learned the actual solution.
Hmmm is it possible the hex codes of the specific colors could lead us to flute directions?

2:31, aww man, so there is seriously no way of breaking those metal box tiles? Man they've been driving me mad throughout the whole game, my mind just itching for finding the one ability that will finally by-pass them. I refuse to believe there is no way of destroying them!
It's a pretty good troll to make it seem like they'll be breakable/passable, then never actually allow that. Believe me, I also assumed that for the whole game, probably most players do. Oh, Billy!
I also assumed that for the entire game. Getting the 65th egg really caught me off guard.

I swear I got the yo-yo to phase through the glass at one point, there’s no way it’s just a solid wall that can’t be passed through
I've gotten yoyos to phase through glass too but definitely not intended
There are so many glass walls blocking off convenient paths that I was expecting a late game item to be something that allows us to break or pass through it. It seemed to be teasing us.
@@EMLtheViewer the glass walls in several places seemingly blocking off shortcuts is madness. why make them glass walls if there is no intended way to break them? Just make it a closed off wall. it's glass meaning there must be something. Can we take the manticore around the map? or does he stop following you once you leave the area. I never tried.
@@violentcrumble6720 The manticore can only break a certain type of glass present inside its chamber where it appears. Regular glass is immune to its laser.
My yoyo phased through a wall one other time due to a moving box crushing it.

I think the glass is going to break once we find something to dig up in the zero gravity bit. Since when we dug up the time capsule a part of the wall connecting the beginning area and the end area disappeared.
What zero gravity bit? I got the capsule with the message, but what and where?
I wonder if the collectors edition bundles of the game will have secrets in the objects. Maybe the map will have uv writing on it or the paper cutout display has something in it
Bubble wand and frisbee are the most fun to use
the site actually isn't going to be updated anymore, which you can find if you press f12 and check the elements, or if you highlight everything inside of the sight (ctrl/command + a)
also, if you're confused about why it starts with a t it's supposed to be "not"
Hey. Wheel warping is legitimate. Legitimately badass.
Animal Well is Super Mario Bros 2, meets Resident Evil, meets Persona, meets Earthbound, meets Halo 2, meets Halo 3
for the floor is lava puzzle, there *is* an easier solution, but it involves a glitch. Bubble warp into the shaft, blow a bubble down to slowly descend, toggle the block state make a second bubble as the hummingbird pops it two screens above the floor, then make your way to the room with the skull door, and jump in the water from the ladder. it may not be the intended solution, but try it yourself, it feels more elegant than the intended route, glitch guide below:
Stand on a bubble and ledge at the same time, play all but the last note of any warp song on the flute, pause and unpause until the bubble is round, then unpause and play the last note simultaneously (hold the direction and the play note button(Y), then cancel(B) out of the pause menu).
this warps you to the intended location, but at the Y location of the bubble, when that travels through water you need to immediately pause in order to not get stunned, but that's not relevant here
The warp used for this route is the one that brings you to the top of the well (26262626)

I would love a tools tier list, possibly also an areas tier list? Definitely have some opinions on those
I honestly really like the floor-is-lava challenge. It took me maybe two dozen attempts, but there are plenty of ways to make it easier, like distracting the dogs in the first room with the B. Ball instead of the Disc, or jumping into the water to the left of the 2nd last room instead of the right. Other than that one vertical wall which is really hard to squeeze past, it's really not too bad imho.
Just strategise the path, practice each section a little, then bring it all together. Same thing you'd do for the P. Flame.
even better, using the top instead of the b-ball
@@idlegameplayer3756 The b-ball will distract the doggos indefinitely even after it comes to a standstill on the floor, so either or should work just as well.
I really don’t like the fact that faces are now notes on the flute. I might just be reading into it too much, but some of the room layouts looks like faces, and there is a neon face at the bottom of the first elevator (only one I’ve found). There might be some flute combination involving the faces in the map, but who knows how many there are and what order they are in.

I started watching this video but I'm going to hold off for now, still want to figure some things out on my own
The main character could be some sort of rodent like a vole, as they are extremely small, and can fit into tight spaces, and it would also make sense lore wise, as there are squirrels in the game, but no rats.

Has anyone taken a match to the frog, to see if it angers it like the candle angers the bat?
Matches can only interact with the candles, but people have tried other light sources.
@@TheLiquidSnake Matches can interact with candles because an interaction is offered by the game. I was wondering if a special interaction would also be offered with the frog, but I agree it doesn’t seem likely. But the only way to rule things out is to try.
You might know this already, but tossing a firecracker makes the frog jump up and down. This would help you jump up and get the chest above, if there weren't 100 other ways you could already get up there :P
The game is great, I was wanting a sequel within a few hours of playing it, took me like 20 hours to get 65 eggs, didn't want it to end..
Don't know if anybody's mentioned this yet, but someone has figured out what the player character is, a mexican jumping bean, which was confirmed afterwards by Billy Basso. Also, is the website at 1:42 run by the developers?

My theory is the blob is a potato. Potatoes have eyes and that’s the only defining feature of the character. You also pop out of a plant in the beginning. Plus, you’re a potato, comedy gold.
Could the secret half of the room be accessed by breaking the glass with the final boss lazers? It is probably possible to bring him there no?

Pour your heart into creating a game. Have people engaged with it at a deep level even before it launches. Launch it. Profit. Launch collectors edition because people are throwing their wallets at you. Profit squared. Best game 2024 so far.
For some reason I though the elephants build the well? Not sure why I though this but at the top of the well on a teleport is an elephant statue. Think I hear somwthing about the connect of manticores and elephants.
I've been playing this for hours and hours. It's amazing. I'm only now starting to look for hints because I'm kind of stuck.

My best guesses as to what our MC is based on a little googling...
1. Cyanobacteria - I searched google for what the smallest organism with eyes is and this was the result, they get their energy from sunlight interestingly, maybe this is why walking through those shadow faces in certain areas deals damage when you don't have the lantern‽
2. Tardigrade - I'm more inclined to believe the 1st idea I had but I wanted to see what the result was if I searched the smallest organism with feet cause our MC also clearly has feet
3. Kirby - The MC bears a striking resemblance to Kirby and I looked up what Kirby is but it doesn't seem like Kirby is based on a real life thing whereas Animal Well's animal roster is based on real living things, so I still think it's most likely to be #1 but maybe the specific thing Billy referred to was Kirby lol
I always thought MC was a seed, and since the whole game seems to be very much themed around "a kid's experiences playing outside and encountering a bunch of animals before coming back home" the seed = child comparison would be apt.
Has embryo or yolk been suggested for what the blob is? Im relatively new to the game started a few days ago. Fell DEEP into the well but have avoided the Internet entirely until i found almost all of the eggs. Theres still so much i dont understand, holy shit.

@@nocapsbb I hated going on reddit for this ama. But I found that clicking on billy or dan's account give you access to all of their replies (you can also see the original question if you click somewhere), which made it much easier for me.
What is the stopwatch I got from clicking x on the bunny under the stairs in the clock room after beating the game for the first time
It's an unlockable timer for all your safe games, you can turn it on in the options

Regarding the blob, I’m thinking maybe it’s some kind of parasite? Because SPOILERS when you get to the big bunny and it eats you, you come out with what look like insect/fairy wings, so it could be based on a parasite that needs to be eaten by a rabbit to complete its life cycle

in cheat mode there are other animals with dialogue , I'm sure cheat mode is not really cheating , it's just more puzzles
I think of the main character not just as a blob. But a yolk. Yolk of an egg which all life comes from. You are born from a seed/bulb/egg.

the amount of things i would do, and money i would give. for a precursor to this game. i would love if there was a world outside the well that had a story as to why the animals ended up in the well. would be sick. this game was a gem. also and heres big what if. if the little blob turns into a moth after being pooped out by the god bunny would it be safe to guess that it might be a pupa > moth with the assistance of god bunny bowels?

I feel the same way about the cat ghost as I do about the pronunciation of the word Gif. It's ok for the creator of something to be wrong, sometimes that's just how things are. It's a large frisbee-chasing whiskerless moaning cat ghost surrounded by dogs and dog statues 🤷♂
the main character has to be like a fruit right? it was born out of a flower. could be when its eating fruits for hearts that it’s actually eating it’s own kind!

I feel the big assumption is larvae or grub considering the reward from all the bunnies? Plus if we’re “born” (hatched?) from a plant theres lots of insects thats that come from buds and fruits, one example comes to mind of a species of wasp that lays eggs in a fig fruit

Sadly the game sucks in certain areas especially if your disabled. I have all the flames went through he trap door but can't do this god dam section at all cause i need to do 3 double jumps while the boomergang is in motion is so shit. - Why can't there be a reset room button its so frustrating. I am getting no joy out of the game its a bloody chore.
Yeah, I think saying that Animal Well is "something something" meets Persona 5 and Earthbound because of the telephone save points is beyond silly.
