So You Want to be a Personal Trainer? (The Good Parts)
Not the end. I have a friend who was asked about a fake ID during the polygraph test. He had it on him, he told the truth but they asked him to hand it over. He handed it over and they did not continue with the selection. He got hired on the next selection.
Hi David, did they specifically tell you to never reapply in your rejection email? My VPD application got terminated after the polygraph but they didn’t specify if it was permanent or temporary.
Hi, I’ll be applying. Do you have an update?
How can I apply do I just need a ged no post secondary education
great video, did you get in? I'm planning to apply, I'm 35, do they have an age limit?
Thanks so much for watching! What do you struggle most with?
Thanks for watching!!
Thanks so much for watching! Have a blast with this one!!
Just FWI, I know that Moonlight Sonata was by Beethoven in case anyone here knows their classical music haha!!
Jimmmmmmmy🎉
You know what I liked about him? .. at ‘that’ gym you’d see him workout and NEVER did the guy grandstand .. or show off. He just kept to himself, did his workout and was respectful of everyone else. NEVER slammed his weights .. ever! I’ve got nothing bad to say about the guy.
A very cool dude for sure!

Hey man .. been a while. Hope you’re doing well. Myself, my health has gone downhill a lot .. added way too much weight .. and struggling to get things back together. Doesn’t help that I can no longer afford a gym. I still do kick boxing 3 times a week (It’s mostly high cardio stuff) .. but I’m eating badly and struggling to get a rhythm back. Back in 2019 I was doing really well .. but I’ve never managed to get my groove back. Would be grateful for ideas on what I can do. Just can’t seem to eat right and I’m ALWAYS tired. Seriously it’s a MASSIVE effort to try to do cardio. Will be interesting to see your 8 week transformation
@@JustAboutTime Hey man! It's awesome to hear from you! Your videos are looking great man, keep up the good work! Im always down to find people that want to go for a walk or jog around the city so hit me up! Getting moving is always the first thing! I'd be down to help you in any way possible. Keep fighting the good fight!
@@crawzfit681 i will take you up on that. A nightly city jog would not be a bad idea. Glad to see you're also still making videos. Likewise, keep it up man.
Thanks man! I dropped off for a long time, now I'm trying to come back with a vengeance haha! Give me a shout and we can coordinate something!

What is the average salary of a police officer in Vancouver? I wanna get into the police career but I doubt it if can pay off my bills.
100+
Hey David, how long did it take before you got your results back for the entrance exam? Thanks
I'd say about a week
A little historical correction from someone who was in the thick of it (I was an adult in NYC in those days): While the war in Iraq and the one in Afghanistan were linked inasmuch as both were started under George W. Bush, the Iraq war wasn't a response to or consequence of 9/11. Rather, it was the invasion of Afghanistan, where the Taliban had long been giving safe haven to Bin Laden and Al Qaeda, that resulted from the 9/11 attack. The Iraq war started a couple of years later, and was kind of an "Act II" to the first Gulf War, when George Herbert Walker Bush (W's father) was President. The first Gulf War was a response to Saddam Hussein's attempted annexation of Kuwait. At the end of that war, the US and its allies decided not to push through to Baghdad or depose Hussein, perhaps because their intelligence forewarned of the chaos that might ensue in the subsequent power vacuum. Unfortunately, "W" didn't have that kind of intelligence. He wanted to, in his view, finish what his father had started twelve years earlier. Accusations were made that Hussein had developed "weapons of mass destruction" (no such weapons were ever found) and that was used as the rationale for the invasion. (Bush also pointed out that Hussein had used gas weapons domestically against the Kurds, which was true. Left out of that discussion was the fact that the gas weapons had been provided by the US years earlier for Hussein's war against Iran in the early 1980s, a war in which over 1 million people died. Hussein was "our guy" that time.) What eventually ensued from the invasion of Iraq and the deposition of Hussein ... Iranian domination of Iraq, the rise of ISIS, etc ... were the outcomes that the first George Bush was hoping to avoid. But none of that was a consequence of 9/11. A lot of people think the outcome in Afghanistan might have been better had W not become distracted by Iraq and spread US resources too thin. Parenthetically, Al Qaeda (9/11) and ISIS (Iraqi Sunni insurgency) don't even get along. They kind of loathe each other, and both of them hate the Iranians.
Thanks so much for watching! Have a great day!
Thank you for your great video
hi buddy was the VPD police ethos exam hard? I tried the ethos practice tests online and I'm not pretty sure if those gonna be helpful?
I found it to be alright, but I can see the English portion being tough for those who's first language isn't English
Thanks for watching :)
It did take courage, David. You had to be honest; if you hadn't been, you would have had to lie during the polygraph.
Thanks for that :)
@@crawzfit681 But what really puzzles me is why your interview was originally scheduled to last several hours. That's much longer than the time allotted to most interviews in either the corporate or non-profit worlds. What did these two detectives plan to do? Parse every minute of your life from the time you left the delivery room at the hospital 20-plus years ago? Moreover, I can't see why the VPD couldn't give you another chance. Even the RCMP, I think, realizes that not every applicant can be squeaky clean 24/7. And the Mounties have a much bigger territory to cover and many more tasks to perform than the cops in Vancouver.
I believe it was to do with me admitting to it while in the application process. I had already sent a list of drugs taken throughout my life (including frequency/approximate dates). This was all my own fault and I accepted that. That being said I think the reaction of the two detectives was a bit over-the-top. Since I've been doing security downtown and watching what cops have to deal with, I'm ok with my overall outcome haha!
And yes, I believe they planned to break down my entire life for hours
@@crawzfit681 Yes, I think the detectives' reaction was over the top. But don't give up on your dream of a career in law enforcement. Because you've been doing security in downtown Vancouver, being a cop is obviously something you've set your heart on! So, why not apply to the RCMP? More pertinent, why not email Steve Watkins, the founder of Real Cops, Reel Life (ruclips.net/user/RealCopsReelLife?app=desktop)? Not only is he a mountie, but he could likely give you some good solid advice on how to apply to the force or, for that matter, other police departments across Canada. Good luck! P.S.: You mention in your video that you're from Nova Scotia. Where? I ask because I was brought up in New Brunswick.
I’m sure they have hired people who are associated with gangs or drugs, but hid that the entire time,
So you’re the type of guy that smokes weed the smells like burnt rubber when people are trying to sleep in the summer with their windows open and trying to apply as a cop
How long did it take before you got your marks for passing?
Ah you see .. Being British I have a built in expectation to fail. And so when things actually don't fail it's a supreme hit of endorphins! My own youtube channel was only ever a hobby .. but even I struggle to create a video a month. And it's a shame that the REALLY good videos I make (The artsy stuff) barely gets looked at .. but the reviews I do .. where I'm rambling about stuff .. seem to get far more hits. It's a LOT of work to constantly produce. My comic work is something that I've had no choice but to make sure I crank out that content because without it .. I'm homeless .. that's always a great motivation. But I feel you on the procrastination thing. Sometimes .. you just gotta readjust your goals so they line up with the rhythm of your life.
I feel ya on that. A video I spend 10-12 hours making will get 20 views, and something I just crank out without a thought will get hundreds or even thousands. Doesn't make too much sense. Keep crushing it man!!
Hope you keep making the videos. I just started a new job myself (photographing watches professionally :D .. finally got there). Hope your job is still working out. I'm VERY happy to finally be rid of that f*****g batthouse job .. similar .. more far more icky than a strip club.
That's great news man!! Excited that things are moving in a great direction!!
This is so gentle and good. Hope lies within the resistance of that which we don’t want to be. But let us not forget, had there been no gollum there would have been no salvation of middle earth. The darkness is not always so very dark in the grand schemes. And we can sweat out some of the restlessness that arises from our inner battles…but are we so very sick? Is what lies beneath those inner battles so debasing? I think Sméagol couldn’t resist because he believed that he couldn’t, gollum had Sméagol so convinced that he was so despicable that he was beyond salvation…but Sméagol wasn’t so very evil. There was a beautiful sweet naivety to the true Sméagol. The true Sméagol was not “the battle” but the sweet creature who reached to Frodo as a master with love and awe.
Super true! If Sméagol hadn't succumbed to his desire Frodo would have and the ring would have continued on with the destruction of Middle Earth!!
Whatever you have in the tank, make sure to empty it before you leave the gym!!
Heh .. still working out at Equinox eh!? .. They did offer me a discount on a membership but I coudln't afford it anyways. But I do use the punch bags at a local kick boxing gym. Great workout.
I resigned. I consider it an investment haha. Hope you're doing well man!!
Drop a like, comment, subscribe! It really helps alot, also...I realize that Sméagol was still himself (sort of) when he killed his friend over the ring, but I think my main idea still stands haha.
Thanks so much for watching! Go out there and have a great day!
I experienced burnout for the first time recently. I’ve always heard that term used and just conflated it with exhaustion but no, not only was I tired but my motivation was completely zapped, I went through a brief depression and lost interest in everything I usually enjoy and am passionate about and I still don’t believe that I’ve fully recovered from it. I’m currently trying to find the right balance between life and personal goals so your message is greatly appreciated
I appreciate that man!! It's difficult to stay "on it" indefinitely. Everything is about balance, but balance is hard to find. Keep at it!! Thanks so much for the comment and support!!

Aww I hope your ankle gets you there…same thing happened to me yesterday practicing
