Can’t get that rubber cover off without damaging the vent. Tried a pick, plastic tool, screwdriver, needle/pin - nothing will move it.

I really like Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Graphene Acrylic Spray Coating. It leaves a nice satin sheen that for me last a long time. As a bonus while using this I learned I could use it on my gray faded trim to restore it back to black and protect it for as long if not longer than the tires. I like the smell of it also.

thank you for sharing your opinion of the car. I agree with most of your points. The standard m54 is definitely easier to deal with long-term, but it's very tame. The s54 has an 8K red line but it requires valve train adjustment every 30k miles. so I wouldn't use an m as a daily whereas the standard model is usable for that. then again it's not a big deal to get the service done. I've heard it's about $1,000. but in a daily commuter that's every 2.5 years. I just couldn't put up with an automatic in a car like that. The m coupe is similar to a Cayman from that era. I have an '06 CS and I don't think the Z4MC can keep up with it but I've always liked these cars. I have a 1998 Z3 2.8 5-speed and it is fun. I think you need to get a proper Z4MC with a manual.

The price for these cheapy doors 😂. I found the plastic door for $200 -$400. Not reasonable. Well I will get creative now. Maybe I can plastic weld mine. A little tab broke off where the latch holds that door closed

Thanks for the great test Drew. I’ve used the Maguires the turtle wax and theGriots products. My results are very similar to yours and now I only use the Griots. I apply one coat on all the tires. Wait a short time and then apply a second coat and I end up getting about a month of longevity out of it.

I wanna change the halo bulb to LED

I followed the horrible, “1/4 instruction” in the OM. I didn’t have a slot to stick a screwdriver into. Actually in hindsight a pick and a hooked pick “might” have worked-maybe. German engineering specifically designed the plastics in all their cars to degrade so that everyone would lease these under warranty and everything would fall apart by 20 years time…but I digress…. Both holes are the same, both lights come out the same. Both lights have the wires coming from the drivers side. The two black immovable, highly fragile prongs are on the left. The metal clip that needs to be depressed is on the right. Any shifting ya can do of the assembly left will be beneficial-but the plastic WILL BREAK if you apply either any bending force OR too much compression force. Beware! Trying to get a small screwdriver to push in on the spring clip, I snapped off that end. On the second light, I got a thinner piece of metal (a razor scraper blade) and the spring clip just went upwards in lieu of compressing and then I had to break the second as I did the first to use a curved 90° pick to compress the spring clip. Then… The bulbs are rotated counter clockwise and then ya pull-but-mine had never been out and the waterproof seals had become a quasi glue. So as I tried to rotate I held the fixture with my fingers on each side of the black “hump” area AND with not too much pressure THE BRITTLE PLASTIC COLLAPSED. I saved the pieces. I used a UV plastic repair to fix the part I had to snap to access the spring clip, because that affixes instantaneously and is cosmetically correct. This would be too hard to do on the collapsed portion and that part is hidden so I tacked them together with superglue as best as I could-but that won’t be waterproof-and then I used Loctite Marine 2-part epoxy and covered the repair. I drilled two small holes next to the spring clips so I can insert a curved pick to easily depress the spring clip next time (because it’ll be even more brittle in another 10 years) and I plugged the hole with a rubber stopper that once was the rubber feet on my cheese slicer. That last part is overkill as nobody is gonna see the two holes and there’s no water/dirt consideration there. Cheers… Oh, if the clown nose breaks I’m not fixing it! 😂

Hmmm, alrighty, hope I ordered the correct front hood emblem. Some pop off, and pop on. But really this is better. It's funny, when you removed the front grill, I was expecting some complicated over-engineered 15+ steps involving removal of several parts to follow 😅.

If you're tackling this job alone, i would recommend pressure bleeder - it's much faster and i would say it's cleaner.

Bought my first BMW in September 1990, and I have had at least one ever since. Got my 2007 Z4 3.0si coupe in 2015. It's not my daily driver (2014 428 xi). My Z4 only gets wet when I wash it, so the window pit not an issue. Agree with the cheap feel of some interior panels, the cup holders are useless IMO. My climate knobs are not quite as loose as yours - maybe yours were abused by a previous owner? I'm OK with the trunk release. I have that same dash trim and it's cracking in several places. Ride quality does depend on the roads, although I keep putting run-flats on the car - I'd like to see more abt non-RFT's. Steering feel - same - car is "swimmy" on the interstate at cruising speeds. I've seen on the Z4 forum that it's a simple adjustment - gonna see if my mechanic is familiar. Rear-view - eventually you adjust it so that you can see pretty far behind you on the highway and just compromise at close range. Side mirrors - I don't like that "tip-down" feature and have it disabled on my 428. My driver's side, however, fogged up (which is common) and I have the replacement in hand - yet to install. Exhaust cut out was just a design feature of BMW's at that time similar to the kinked "C" pillar - it was across the entire line. I'm OK with the halo, I actually end up running with parking lights on pretty frequently because the instrument cluster is so far back in that binnacle that it's in shadow and can't be read. Side reflectors - blame the US govt. for that. The long hood is what makes the design of the car, but it does make it hard to drive as you said, and also you can't judge how wide it is at the front wheels. Another item I'd point out, and it's common to coupes in general, is the length of the doors. You have to look for extra wide parking spaces or park far away from other cars, and when you get back you may still find that someone has parked too close for you to be able to get in to your car. A particular problem for me as I'm 6'5" and need to open the door fully in order to be able to get in the car. My 428 has the same issue.

I like the way the Adams looks, that you can buy it in bulk and their instructional videos, not overly shiny but I like that the turtle wax has acrylic.
