Do you suffer from chronic neck and/or shoulder tightness or PAIN?
Follow along with this informative video that explains WHY this issue happens to you.
Two main components are your breathing pattern - are you mostly breathing into your chest? And can you contract the muscles easily in your upper back.
Try these exercise in the seated or lying position and feel what happens to your stiffness and/or pain in your neck or shoulder areas.
Remembering to relaxing your shoulders throughout the day is a great way to start shifting this pattern of tension.

I recommend doing this exercise before you go for a walk or a run. It focuses on improving alignment from the toes, up the leg and hip and even into the posture alignment in your upper body. I would only do this once in the morning (holding for 20-30 sec) and once at night! If you have a lot of neck pain or head pain than only hold it for 10-15 sec. Starting out slowly and increasing it the way to go! Good luck with it Jocelyne!

How can one distinguish physical/emotional trauma as the cause of chronic pain from say a disease or condition? Or do they go hand and hand, and if so does one treat simultaneously?
That is a GREAT question Brenda. What I have found clinically working with patients is that the physical traumas are quite "obvious." Their posture will be very compromised and once I point out these imbalances the person can easily see it too. In my hands those "anchor points" of tension feel very "hard" in the tissue. As I mentioned in the video the emotional traumas are in the fluids of the body. They have a different feeling and do not feel so "hard." A great way to discover more about this yourself is to literally ask your body. Create a calm space and time for yourself to breath and calm your body and then you can ask your body.... maybe you feel tense in your chest, then ask that part of your body questions. Is this tension from a trauma? How can I release the tension here? Etc... After you practice this technique you might be surprised how much information you learn and then release the tension! I hope that helps Brenda!

Yes, so many of us don't take deep breaths Donna! Thanks for the "hair" feedback, you are very kind. I just use whatever gel I can find at the health food store... it changes every time I buy it. I got lucky with wash and go hair.
