I've been meaning to catch one of these for a while now and it's been pretty tough considering they're barely used for public work and usually seen on the Amazon routes... but the chance finally came. On temp route 718 for the Bakerloo Line, 405 is driven with full throttle where possible climbing hills with ease and downshifting very often. It is quite a rare sighting anywhere other than the Eastern outskirts of London, these BCIs. Having such a massive engine, the Cummins ISL8.9 engine and being tri-axle it's evident they're not necessarily needed for any service routes in London... all that power just to do 20 or 30 on mostly flat land. The closest we've ever been to it was TA1, Go-Ahe...
