Serious Injury Takes Me Out! What Now?
Wonderful video. So many exciting things to do around Loreto. Keep ‘em coming
More to come!
We got our Mexican permanent resident cards, it was relatively easy, especially that we have a home in Baja, I believe that helped!
It's a pretty easy process if you meet all the requirements.
How about a video about renting an SUV at the loreto airport for a couple months without getting scammed which seems to be the general consensus. Not necessary at loreto airport but Mexico in general.
I have rented cars in Mexico many times and have been scammed for hundreds of dollars and always felt like I was getting taken advantage of. All of the US car rental agencies in Mexico have no connection to the US except their name. Currently I don't know of any car rental company in Mexico that operates anything like the companies in the US. I just figure that I am going to pay 10x the quoted price, have to fight about every scratch that was on the car when I got it, and hope it doesn't break down while I'm driving it. That said, at Pufferfish Villas we have several options to rent golf carts at around $50 a day with no extra costs, no extra fees, and no hassle. They can be here when you arrive and picked up after you leave.
We should meet when we get down there
Feel free to contact us though Facebook or Instagram and we can setup a meet
We don’t have any social media. We will figure out a way. All we need to be social is a Margarita …..Lol
You can always email us at dooglassandesperanzaadventures@gmail.com but please email early because we don't always check it every day.
I recommend the trip to Isla Coronado on the glass bottom boat. Seeing the rays, turtles, fish and sea lions is fun fun fun. But I highly recommend Pufferfish Villas. A high quality accommodation. Dooglass and Esperanza are great people. Attentive to your needs. Hands on owners. I have been there twice and plan on returning this fall/winter.
Thank you so much!!
I can’t believe how big Loreto is. I last visited in 1977, and it was 10 times smaller at least. Beautiful part of Baja Sur.
In 1977 Cabo was smaller than Loreto is now and today it is like San Diego.
One of our favorite spots for breakfast is Orlando’s. If you haven’t been to Baja Haay yet you should give them a try.
We checked out Baja Haay once but haven't been yet. We only eat out about once a week so it takes us some time to try everything. We've been here two years and there are still lots of restaurants we want to try! 🤣
We've been to Orlando's three times since we moved here - twice for breakfast and once for dinner. We have yet to stop at that ice cream shop - we definitely need to make that a regular stop. By the way, their breakfasts are out of this world. Anything with their creamy poblano sauce will knock your socks off.
Sounds good! We usually don't ever eat breakfast unless we have friends visiting that want to go. Have only been out a few times for breakfast in Loreto.
I'm building a house at El Rincon in Loreto Bay.........can't wait to move in. Thanks for hooking me up with Eduardo, who will be installing my garage. Leon
Glad he could help!
Seems to me one of the byproducts of owning and operating a resort is you kind of have a built in social circle. I'm sure you occasionally have guests that you really enjoy and get along well with and go out to do things with. That's pretty cool. That glass bottom boat and view is awesome! 🙂 We JUST finished building our home about 30 minutes south of San Felipe and they're lots of ex-pats in our development.....BBQs, pickleball, kayaking, watching football at the Clubhouse......we're sure not bored when we're there......kinda similar to what you guys have socially I'd assume. We will get down to see you guys this Spring.
We just drove down through there yesterday. Esperanza was commenting how much it had grown up south of SF.
I LOVE your “back yard” 🏖. Indeed a must do when visiting Loreto. 🐡🌴
Definitely!
What amazing beaches! I think for most of us the trip would perhaps be the highlight of a vacation to go out in a glass-bottom boat! For a hundred dollars each it's really not bad! When I think of all the tours in Hawaii that were near that price per person, it is VERY good! I think my last helicopter Island tour was nearly $375 each with a group of 4 of us. so also, the sunset dinner boats that don't even last that long can be expensive. Your life in Mexico seems to be very fulfilling and there you are relaxing on vacation so what could be better?
Yes Hawaii has gotten very expensive. Things are also going up here like everywhere else, but they are still lower than many tourist vacation spots. It is nice to have all the vacation activities at our fingertips. We have so much work to do that I often stop and think that it's been weeks since we have even gone down to the beach just 600ft away! Heck sometimes we are working on stuff and don't leave our property for a week or more. 😂😂
@@dooglassandesperanza Actually here where I live in Oregon there is a ton of recreational spots and our fingertips.. I live 10 minutes from beautiful waterfalls, 7 minutes from a lake, 5 minutes to the river. Plus I can leave my weather zone in the shoulder seasons and go to Bend in less than 2 hours or the beach in an hour and a half... But I am here in the yard working my garden and taking care of animals! It's a thing... but invite me to Hawaii and I am onboard!! Or Mexico! :)
I lived in the Portland area for 43 years. Avid mountain climber, backpacker, hiker, snowboarder, and mountain biker.
@@dooglassandesperanza So you know! Natural beauty, but our homeowner's insurance and Property taxes are horrible! Sometimes I think renting would be cheaper ... But at least we still spend most Winter months in Mexico. So I am ok. :)
Big problem with renting is that your costs continue to increase year after year forever. Hard to be on a fixed income with your housing costs rising 5% every year.
Question? Your place is easily walkable to restaurants and grocery stores close by correct?
Pufferfish Villas is about a 15 minute walk to the center of town where you will find food and groceries. We also have free bikes for our guests and golf carts available to rent.
💡👍Brilliant !!
Thanks
Wooooow. You guys are incredible!!! So much congratulations!
Thank you so much!!
You have to scrap it off and reapply
It has hardened to regular epoxy hardness over time so there is no way to scrape it off unfortunately.
Just like installing Signs or something on a brick wall... Align with the mortar lines for best looking outcome (level is not always the answer). 👍🤠✌️
Exactly!
Go from the backside of the shower for the valve. Easier to repair plaster or concrete than tile.
I have been planning out the repair in the recent weeks and I came to the same conclusion. Great idea! thanks!
If it looks straight it is straight...the builders mantra, I can't believe how fast your landscape plants are growing !. You had planted a special palm tree by the pool, did it take ?
Yes, the lipstick palm that I planted by the pool is still growing and doing well. I also planted another one between the Villas and it is doing well also.
We were your last guests that checked out on July 1st! Had an awesome time and loved Pufferfish Villas!
Thank you so much for staying with us!
I laughed when you suggested the grab bars should come with anchors ...that makes perfect sense but we're in Mexico 😂. Enjoy your projects
I would agree except they were an imported Moen US product with English as the primary language on the packaging. Mexico products are getting better all the time. Most new Truper products have Spanish and English on all the packaging and documentation, and usually have everything you need included.
Yes I agree! Things have improved quite a bit in the past few years. I'm actually waiting for three packages to arrive from Mercado Libre to our tiny village. We hit Home Depot in Mexicali once in a while and like the selection and quality far more than in the US.
Your cleaners called. They asked if you could hold a vacuum up the bit when you drill holes in walls that'd be awesome... 😆
🤣 Ideally would have had Esperanza to hold a shop vac to get most of the dust, but she was gone shopping.
Aloha 🌺🥰

Thanks, will do!
Please put some type of separation between that stove and the couch. It looks like a fire hazard!
It is on a list of future upgrades. Thanks!
Looking good 🐡🌴
Thanks 👍
For any new subscribers, I think it's important to go back to the beginning of this story before any of these adorable villas were built. It's been amazing watching this place go from an empty lot to this lovely Oasis. I love how Dooglass explains why he is adding all these little details that really make the experience for customers so smooth and worry free! I had some rust show up on some of my bath towels, but I never figured out where it came from. luckily it hasn't kept happening. Who knew a towel hook could cause this?? THANKS for another learning video!
Thanks for the kind words
Yes ! I just caught up now, after viewing the entire journey. Fun watch.👍🤠✌️
....they have the best french fires..... " yeah... they are good they taste like Macdonads"... thats when this video lost me. any further recomendations are nule. sea Ya!
😂 I don't like anything else at McDonald's but I stand by my review of their fries.
@@dooglassandesperanza Great, that just confirms that your taste isn't great. Bad comparison: junk food with a tourist destination restaurant. So how can you guarantee a good recomendation with those standard...just saying.
Everyone has different tastes. It sounds like yours are different than mine. I don't hold any predisposed opinions against any brand or product just because of the category it is in. I will give anything a chance and give my honest opinion. Thank you for doing the same.
PLACE LOOKS GREAT !
Thanks
Nice work
Thanks
We are coming to Loreto in November what are the best cheap eats and drinks please
There are over 160 licensed restaurants in Loreto. Too many to pick. Your best bet would be to look at reviews on Google Maps or check out the Voices of Loreto Facebook page. You should find tons of good reviews there.
I love the attention to detail that you guys have put in your project, wish you the best!!!
Thanks so much!
Gracias vecino por compartir estos videos, El Poblano también te ofrece sopita de frijoles gratis, mas tienes que pedirla con tu orden.😊
¡Es bueno saber eso! Gracias
Dooglass thanks for the videos they are great and you explain Loreto very well ,looks like a nice place ,maybe I will visit one of these days
Love to have you
You need to put a sheetrock wall behind the stove. The heat from the stove could set the sofa backside on fire. Possible, maybe probable. The distance on the install should state the distance for a flammable wall. But a sofa is MUCH more flammable, so put up a barrier with sheetrock. Nothing fancy, just something to protect the sofa from the oven heat, or a fire on or in the stove. Otherwise, great job !!
Thanks for the info. We have been using it for several months and monitor the heat. No problems so far. Also the glass top cover when folded up acts as a protector in case of fire. Thanks
@@dooglassandesperanza All good, but I worked for a public gas utility and all gas appliances have installation standards that are in the installation guide. None of those requirements are meant for fabrics, and the fabric on a sofa is much more flamable than say a wooden wall. Sheet rock is generally "fire rated" in terms of an actual barrier, so it is the best, but even piece of plywood between the two cabinets would help. If I was doing it, I would attach one piece of (cut to fit) sheetrock or plywood across the back of the whole set up (including cabinets) and then brace it with three 1 X 2" s horizontally, one at the top, one in the middle and one at the bottom (on the outside) so it looks intentional, but is very low cost. Also, with no barrier, you run the risk of accidently damaging the gas line, which I presume is propane. Even a small propane leak might go undetected, but cause a fire. It's your house, I'm just telling you because I don't want you to burn down your lovely casita.
Thanks for all of the info. We may make some changes. We already have a gas detector installed along with a CO and smoke+CO detector. When it comes to gas I am very sensitive to the smell that is added to propane. I once had a 500 gallon outdoor tank in Oregon and I called the propane company because I could smell propane next to the tank all the time. The tech came out and could not smell it or detect it with his fancy detector but was able to find a very small leak on a fitting. He did this while smoking a cigarette the entire time and then demonstrated how to use my wet hose as a flamethrower. It was pretty spectacular but I decided not to try it myself. At my last house in SoCal I could often smell gas around the meter. I called the utility out several times and even tried to find the leak myself but was never able to find anything. But there was a leak because for the 5 years I lived there I could smell it much of the time within a couple feet of the meter. Gas company seemed unconcerned. They told me that a massive amount of gas is needed to ignite outdoors so a small leak outdoors is nothing to worry about.
This episode made me very hungry.
Haha!

I like that you guys show points of interest around your resort. We are considering your resort this winter.
We would love to have you! We are already booked over 50% for the 2024-2025 season. We have barely scratched the surface of things around Loreto. I just heard from a friend that is opening a restaurant that there are 126 licensed restaurants in Loreto.

Thanks for the info!
We are originally from Northern California but now call Bucerias Nayarit home since 2019. We were lucky to be able to spend a of time in Loreto and and explore much of Baja Sur. Several times we towed our Boston Whaler down with us and launching from the ramp in downtown Loreto and Puerto Escondido are highlights of my life on the water. If you can find a way to bring your boat down or can afford to rent a boat for a day or two and explore the islands of Loreto I can not recommend it highly enough!
We have been out to the islands on boats many times. I have owned boats in the past and I decided long ago that it is much better, easier, and cheaper to have a friend with a boat.
Your breakfast was very delicious.
Thank you 😋
