I know the sentence is controversial and inappropriate given the severity of the actions committed, BUT it clear from the interview video that T truly didn’t understand that killing Danya wasn’t just about keeping Evan all to herself, it was about completely erasing her from the world and existence to everyone. It’s not just that danya moved away or something and was not a temptation or whatever for Evan. It’s sad that once the actions were over and the goal accomplished that she realized her life itself is also over, but that’s the teenage mind. Humans are not fully mentally aware of what the finality of actions mean until around 24-28 years old, she understands what death means but not in the whole picture that it affects Danya’s family, friends outside of school and the community as a whole.
