@@RustyShacklefordJr1337 I'm not so sure about that. He may have failed by being a nasty father, but there are many fathers and mothers who do well at parenting, and yet, a child grows to make their own choices, sometimes terrible choices, despite good parenting. I've worked in the field of nursing for over 40 years and more than half of those years in the area of corrections, mental health, and addiction. You're correct, there are people who are terrible parents and people and their children can suffer for it. Then again, there are great parents, and it's the parents who suffer for the terrible choices their children make. Just saying, we don't know the whole story until we know the whole story.

My dad was strict and he didn't raise his hands to us but we respected him the most! I never raised my voice to my father in my life and I never back chatted him either and what he said went. His way of discipline was to have a meeting with you in his office and you better belive you had to knock on the door and he would make you wait then you'd sit across his desk for him while he outlined all the ways you'd dissapointed him and how you could have done better and you left feeling about a centimetre tall. He passed away 6 years ago and I miss him so much. I raised my son the same way and I was a young, single parent and I've never had any trouble from my son.

We cracked down on his access to games, friends, and money. It was harsh and took coordinated actions by both of us. It wasn’t pleasant for anyone in the house, but it had to be done. Forty one years later we all agree it was the best thing we could have done. He is a wonderful husband and father and has a profession that benefits the community. The guy was intitially retreating from someone who was approaching him with 2 potentially lethal improvised weapons and defended himself with the initial stabs.
When he started chasing him to finish him off it became a crime but at that point it can be argued that the guy was already in a life and death fight and could not think rationally. Combined with him being underage the low sentence makes sense. Even an adult would probably only get 5-10 years for that.
If he had never chased the other guy after getting the first stabs in this would have been a pure self defense case.

It’s an awful shame that this father abandoned his wife and children and then the children were sent to foster homes with sadness and confusion about why their parents left them/did not love them. A father cannot do this and then expect to come back home many years later and expect law and order from a visibly fearful and angry son who no doubt has severe abandonment troubles. The number one reason that a children younger than a teen joins a gang is to find a sense of family because there was none at home where it should have been in the first place.

If he had simply got on his bicycle and gone in the other direction, he'd still be alive. Nothing was stopping him from escaping that situation, he had plenty of opportunities to leave before things turned deadly.

Poor Papa. He loves his son and he ended up murdering someone because he's mentally ill. He couldn't save him from himself. 😢 The dude was spoiled loved but acted like a gangster. I know real gangsters and they are not like that. Not all gangsters are killers. If they get help early they can change their lives and become better people. This dude is mentally unstable he's no gangster. He has a loving family who cares for him. My heart hurts for the papa. This is tragic and disturbing. I am half native American so I know what the traditions are. My brother and I were taking in by family members after our parents got divorced because they try to keep the children with the families so we don't lose our heritage and benefits. I am grateful for the traditions because it saved me from worse abuse. My mom was able to get custody and she took care of us. Without the native American community my mom wouldn't have had the ability to get custody. They also took her in after she was abused by my father, helped clean herself up and got a job and home for us.
