They received no regular education in subjects covering courses in reading comprehension, grammar, penmanship, mathematics, history, literature, geography, the arts, music (music theory, instrumental study, world music), the arts, science, sports, vocational studies or they received only a little education. The children were used in medical experiments and were subjected to physical, psychological , and sexual abuse.

It is a common thing for groups who support the rights of the disabled to oppose medical aid in dying. They seem to fear a slippery slope situation that would soon envelop them, contrary to their wishes. However, current medical aid in dying legislation in every jurisdiction where it presently exists insists that only the person who would die from this intervention has the right to request it. No one may coerce medical aid in dying upon another. Medical aid in dying laws and practice emphasize self-initiation by the person at issue, in conjunction with family and friends whenever possible. A factual correction: 10 States (NOT five) in the United States, plus the District of Columbia, currently authorize medical aid in dying; and 19 additional States are currently considering authorizing medical aid in dying in their jurisdictions. The American Medical Association has recently changed its position on medical aid in dying from "Opposed" to "Neutral." In short, people who would appreciate having the option of medical aid in dying should be able to have it. People who do not wish to access this option should be able to decline it.

Unfortunately, people still have such barbaric attitudes towards people with disabilities to this day. If anybody tries to euthanize me, they won't be able to move their body for a month.

If you get rid of all people who take more than they give, then the "purists" and "evolutionists" will, go after people who give only 1% more than they take, then 10%, then 50%....all the way "up" to even high contributors but not quite the top ones. IOW, the smallest number of the very highest net contributors that can sustain a healthy breeding population (for Germany, maybe 1% of the population at biggest; even a smaller % for even more populated nations like Russia, USA China, India, Brazil). *Where does it stop in practice? * "If you tolerate this, then your children will be next" as the song goes.

Medical aid in dying (MAID) is merely one option among other options at end of life. No one is forced to ask for it. Only those who WANT MAID may ask for it. That's all. I understand your reasons for not agreeing with assisted suicide, completely. However, as someone who myself is clinically depressed, its easy to see how your mother felt, not wanting to live, having no hope, feeling completely alone even with everyone around you. Sometimes medicine works, sometimes it does not, and when it does not, you're constantly stuck in a state of hopelessness, as much as you hope the medicine might work. But sadly, it does not always. It should be someone's choice to choose when to end their life, whether it be through physical or mental illness, because your mind can be as debilitating as any physical illness, and unless you have been in that position yourself it would be impossible for you to understand how she was feeling, the feeling of hopelessness is real, and very prevelant in the minds of depressed people. I am so extremely sorry for your loss, and completely understand your views on the matter, however I also understand your mother's point of view and reasons for doing what she did, may she rest in peace, and may you come to peace with her decision and continue your work. It should be legal for people to take their own lives if they wish and whenever they want as humanely as possible as people will do it anyway in ways that are ugly if they wish. No one should be bullied, said they’re weak because they want to or feel bad by family or laughed at for claiming to want to. My body my choice. If you want to live in this world well go ahead. To be honest on a global scale I don’t want to choose to live in a world where intelligent people created the hydrogen bomb so people die slow deaths from radiation. It’s not that pretty of a world. Nobody asked us if we wanted to be born, and nobody should tell you to stay or make laws that prevent you from leaving.

Dr Phillip is a legend and this interviewer is trying to find loopholes. The point is the man was coherent and was turned down for assisted suicide because he didnt meet the criteria. Was tired of life and was of sound mind and made the informed choice that he didnt want to live anymore and was able to make that choice himself. If Dr Phillip hadnt of helped him he may of declined worse and ended up in a pysch ward for the rest of his days. I am all for people making informed decisions when they wanted to die, everyone should be allowed this right

This guy is incredibly brave. The lady interviewing him, “don’t you think his family would have wanted you to act differently” haha of course they would but it’s not their choice. It’s tragically comical how far people will go just to keep someone alive, regardless of their wishes, experience, and quality of life. We continue to take away peoples freedom and autonomy then wonder why they are miserable or act out. I’m all for psychiatric care, IF a person wants it. When he said suicide should be a fundamental right and not a medical privilege I was in absolute awe.

You know what I found distressing. Going to visit my relatives that died in hospital. Seeing them and other people slowly dying for months with huge pain without any chance of getting better. This I find liberating to have an option. Nobody asked me to get here and nobody should ask me when I want to leave.
