I respect your right to a personal opinion but I do need to disagree. I am paralysed from the neck down and on a ventilator 24hrs a day. If I was to make the decision that I wanted to die (not that I am), how am I supposed to act on that? Any able-bodied person has options, why shouldn't I? Surely giving one group of people control of their life while denying the same choice to another group is the very definition of discrimination.

I want people to live their lives in the best possible way if you need some of the carrier of my soul I give my blood If we can we develop organs out of our own dna !!! I don’t want them to kill my depressed friends no euthanasia in psychiatric treatments why not have us heal ???
    No killing please !!!
Why can’t I refuse a treatment that takes away 20 to 30 years of my life ???
Why can’t we not heal people??
healing is better than dying giving disabled people the best possible life they can have is key !!

It is a common thing for groups who support the rights of the disabled to oppose medical aid in dying. They seem to fear a slippery slope situation that would soon envelop them, contrary to their wishes. However, current medical aid in dying legislation in every jurisdiction where it presently exists insists that only the person who would die from this intervention has the right to request it. No one may coerce medical aid in dying upon another. Medical aid in dying laws and practice emphasize self-initiation by the person at issue, in conjunction with family and friends whenever possible.
A factual correction: 10 States (NOT five) in the United States, plus the District of Columbia, currently authorize medical aid in dying; and 19 additional States are currently considering authorizing medical aid in dying in their jurisdictions. The American Medical Association has recently changed its position on medical aid in dying from "Opposed" to "Neutral."
In short, people who would appreciate having the option of medical aid in dying should be able to have it. People who do not wish to access this option should be able to decline it.

Why keep someone in excruciating pain for the last few days, weeks, months of their lives. You cant talk because are you in pain 24/7. People should have the choice. If our medical system cannot help those with a terminal illness and those living in excrutiating pain get better or recover fully without pain, then they should have the right to be in peace. Fuck sake. Do we let an animal suffer when they are suffering. NO! We put them down because its inhummane to let them keep suffering. Humans should not be made to keep suffering.

100% agree but they want the line to include anyone on benefits or anyone unemployed who is sad or depressed or desperate or has mental problems. So it shouldn't be an all or nothing thing.

What a hypocrite. She finds her situation tolerable so this is her position, yet she wants to push it on everybody else. There are people who are suffering so terribly, an easy death is the only release they will get from the torture. How DARE this woman decide that nobody deserves that relief?

Medical aid in dying (MAID) is merely one option among other options at end of life. No one is forced to ask for it. Only those who WANT MAID may ask for it. That's all. Actually, many people would like to have MAID as an option.
If there is a hint of pressure from anyone to ask for MAID, just say: No thanks.

Sorry when someone phones up a mentally handicapped or depressed person and tells them the best option they have isn't government funded assistance and medical care but is MAID that is force, not physical force, but coercion and subterfuge.
