I am 32 years old and I have emphysema. I have hopes and goals of becoming a support worker for those with mental health issues, I'm even studying to get there, I may even make it even it is just for a short time, that is my purpose in this life. However, a walk to town used six months ago took me 15 minutes, I can no longer do this as every couple of hundred metres I find that I can't breathe and I have to stop, I sleep on 5 pillows (so basically sitting up) and wake up choking every night on the fluid from my lungs. I've been told the possibility that in 12 to 18 months time I will most likely be on oxygen and possibly in a wheelchair. However because I have Aspbergers syndrome and complex post traumatic stress disorder I am not allowed to choose whether I can die with dignity or just let the people I love watch me wither away into nothing. I have an IQ of 145 and I know the difference between right and wrong. I am also a Christian but I believe that God does not want any of his children to suffer, therefore it is my belief that I should be allowed to choose to die with dignity. If I am unable to fulfill my hopes and dreams, all too soon no longer able care for myself or worst of all parent my child as well as having no quality of life then I should have the right to die with dignity, regardless of whatever mental health problems I have.

Given how time has moved, on in terms of compassionate care, the latest drugs and the use of mindfulness,
would you not support calls for decent, well-funded, end-of-life care?

The policy clearly states that being disabled alone is not enough to be eligible. They have nothing to worry about. A protest over nothing.
