Just wondering who woukd win a fist fight between a jehovahs witness and a hamish???? Aparently 137 thiusand is the limit of the amount of people that god will save when it hits the fan but im leaning towards that amount is already probably taken uo by hamish .they seem to be living better than most and because of it are in gods graces so to all you jehovahs out there pushing in at à que of salvation train is against the ruk3s of decent conduct. Oh that's pretty hard I remember how my mom would use wash board and then hang all the clothes outside and if it's winter time then all clothes get "frozen" that's how I described when I was a kid. I saw that plenty times enough and it's not fun ,it's hard work and I'm so grateful I live in this country and have washer and dryer and dishwasher etc..

This video would have been better served if narrated by an engineer, rather than a disc jokey. It could use some technical background about needed ventilation details, soot formation and removal from the chimneys, etc. That is why I never listen to crap on the radio stations, because it is staffed by readers rather than people with experience.

The Amish use thermal mass heaters in their homes if they can afford them. Otherwise they use cast-iron stoves in the living area and kitchen.

This is how we did Christmas in my country (Guyana) . Things have changed now, all about material things.

More Americans should take some lessons from the Amish. They are the only true community because they dont have all the stupid wasteful things that we do. They build houses in mere days. If you have a fire the community helps rebuild your house. You dont see this with our society. We choose to divide ourselves over mundane reasons. They stay together for one simple reason, its better that way. Oh dont start with the stonings or shunning while you cannot produce one ethnicity or religion who hasnt done worse.

My grandmother had a wringer washing machine but it was electric. She didn't have running water so she caught rain water and also used water from a well.

I'm 74 and disabled. I live in a townhouse apartment. I have no clue how to install any of these. I don't have the money to install any. The co-op I live in would not allow it anyway I guess I'll just freeze if the heat goes out.

Depends on the Amish too. There's one particular family I know of that has a modern workshop on their property. The house and farm are all 1800's style, but that workshop is kitted out with electricity and pneumatic tools. They build and sell cabins, and I guess as long as they stay off grid and don't mix business with pleasure, their ordnung is OK with it. (And yes, they are Amish, not Mennonites, I know the difference.) Edit: Incidentally while canned goods CAN last for years, 18 months is the maximum recommended shelf life. Also water bath canning is only good for high-acid foods with a ph of 4.6 or lower. Low-acid foods, like meat and vegetables, you need a pressure canner to get the temperature high enough to kill off the bacteria that causes botulism. Also when storing jars, leave the rings off. If the jar isn't fully sterilized and something starts growing in there, you want that pressure to be able to pop the lid off. That way you know it's bad. If you leave the ring on, the lid might pop to release some gas, then re-seal itself. Resulting in spoiled contents that look fine.

When my sons were little, we handmade our Christmas gifts. And I'd bake a birthday cake for Jesus every year. I also got them a children's Bible, so it was easier for them to understand. Bless everyone and stay safe and healthy. 😊
