All their feathers look black. Doesn't that mean they are roosters? I ordered this breed and all 15 of my chicks at 2 weeks old have black feathers wing tips. Do I have all roosters 😢 I ordered females .

Interesting fact about the red comb growth cycle. You don't seem to care if your rooster was killed. Not my kind of person.

Blue is an incomplete dominant gene. Not recessive at all. A bird is either blue or it isn't. There is no carrying off the blue gene. Lavender is recessive (technically called self blue- yes I know it's confusing). Chocolate is recessive. White can be both dominate and recessive, two separate genes for a white bird. Anyways just wanted to clear that up

We have a GLW hen just like yours, and she's the best wing-across-the-face-slapper of any chicken that I've ever owned. Other than that, she's very sweet, makes calm, cooing noises, and is the "lady" of our flock

Any distinct markings to determine hens from roos at a week old? I bought 3 a week ago that were day old she got from cackle hatchery. She got as extras so not sure what they are. Her order was for all pullets. These all have the feathers on the feet which i understand those are the french marans. Also only 1 of the 3 i bought is a copper, the other 2 are black marans.

Of course you lost some. You don't feed them right... Give them real sand and worms. They need little rocks to digest foods in belly. Leave them on grass field and let them feed on vitamin d & dustbathe.

Then I remove sheet = larger pen. When robin size birds go outside pen BUTTED AGAINST YOUR BEDROOM WINDOW. With FULLY ENCLOSED SLEEP QUARTERS. ACCIPATORS. Not BUTEOS. Are alpha enemy. Accipators land & stalk, chase, steel chicks ENMASS. I use scare crow WITH RADIO. Thats the secret. If radio battery die? Your birds DEAD. Human voices in scarecrow ONLY& @3 or so lbs, RELEASE birds let them roam free. Your birds will NOW be addicted 2u & TAME teachable, willing. Eagwr if u fed them MY FEED PARADIGM ONLY. IF NOT YOUR BIRDS WILL HATE U. Chicks cannot NOT 1/2 assed with feed they are abominations engineered2 buld FAT &MEAT & EGGS. Biggest possible eggs only.
