Im about to start me another Back Yard Flock again. I have kept the Plymouth Barred Rocks before with good success, however I saw this breed and the history behind them and I think their plumage is absolutely stunning! This is the breed I have ordered from my local feed store and I am hoping they come in soon.

The ones with the lightest chest are more likely roosters due to races have a lot more color instead of laces, unlike hens I know I’m late but maybe you can have some for the future

I can't believe how calm and friendly that rooster is. I have three different breeds roosters and they would scream their heads off if I manage to catch them and hold them.

I'm amazed she accepted to sit nicely for so long. None of my chickens will stay put not even the most friendly ones. Yours flapped her wings just because she was out of balance.

All their feathers look black. Doesn't that mean they are roosters? I ordered this breed and all 15 of my chicks at 2 weeks old have black feathers wing tips. Do I have all roosters 😢 I ordered females .

Interesting fact about the red comb growth cycle. You don't seem to care if your rooster was killed. Not my kind of person.

Blue is an incomplete dominant gene. Not recessive at all. A bird is either blue or it isn't. There is no carrying off the blue gene. Lavender is recessive (technically called self blue- yes I know it's confusing). Chocolate is recessive. White can be both dominate and recessive, two separate genes for a white bird. Anyways just wanted to clear that up
