does it beep in diode mode ?*
i have one, and it is really great metter. Also great reviews 😊
I love that kind of content. You have great knowledge Sir.
I just don’t understand why people want to measure the signals up to 60,000 counts. If you look at the specifications, the last 2 digits are pretty much uncertainties. I would round the measurement values to 3 effective digits. It is misleading to show 5 digits while the meter can only guarantee the accuracy to the first 3 digits.
I am getting acceptable readings. As someone who is Lexdyslic I forget to press the 'SEL' button for DC measurements. but I have only had my meter for 2 days! Overall I am happy. I am just jealous that others on your comments paid less.
You do very good reviews, thorough and accurate.. I've watch a few now. Thanks and.....73. de N8QZH
Superb thank you vidio
I've got this meter along with the 28 II. They are absolutely the same, even the output voltage and current on continuity- and diode modes are the same among them. The only differences I can find so far are: - The name (obviously) - 87V Max as a higher drop test rating - 87V Max has a specified operating temperature range where the 28 II has not, but I think I can safely say they are the same in that regard. Baffles me why they put this meter with the name "87V Max" on the market actually.
WTF it’s a very accurate meter for general use. I have one. It does do micro amps. Not that I use it. But for very accurate voltage and resistance readings. It is spot on. Gold plated leads? And belief that everything you have is also 100% accurate, even if calibrated (by whom). It has some very useful features and is pretty robust.
Did fluke fix the problem with super caps going bad? Everything I read online says it’s a common problem with the 287 and 289
Thank you very much for this honest review, YES, True is true. I rarely see an honest review. Well done, 27:31 YES it seems a toy. This thing is expensive and it should be built with a good design, this device is professional. Too bad from Fluke.
Is there a way to turn the sound off on this meter or is my speaker just broken?
the newer version of this multimeter is zoyi/zotek zt225. please do a review on it if it's possible.
👍
Zoyi are the OEM/ODM for most Aneng meters and a few other sub-brands. I discovered it's also possible to self-calibrate this meter with a correct jumper wire on the PCB. You need calibration standards that are 1.0^n of the range.
One of best channels with detailed testing of DMMs. Great channel and content Sir. Have a nice day
How do you feel about the Fluke 28 II?
I have never tested a Fluke 28 II, but as fare as I can tell the Fluke 28 II and the Fluke 87V Max look identical and have the same specifications. The Fluke 28 II is $595.41 at TEquipment.com and the Fluke is 87V Max is $487.70 at TEquipment.com. I hope someone can shed more light on any differences between them. If they are in fact identical, I would get the Fluke 87V Max. I sell most of the meters I review but kept the 87V Max and use it.
Congratulations, I like your vídeos review. I'd like to see a review of Yokogawa TY720
Excelent work
Which one is better bm869s or the new bm789 ?
bm869 is more accurate for lab use, but bm789 is better for repair stuff & diode testing because it have beep, and more durable battery.
only having an Apple computer is crazy for a tech person IMO. the really cool people use Linux. normal people use Windows. Apple is for Artists, Musicians, Video Editors and College Girls IMO. Though i suppose you qualify as a video editor. Still i assure you - Windows can edit videos too - you will want a gaming grade laptop to edit videos though, or a workstation grade laptop. Basically you want a laptop that is bundled with a big power supply to edit videos. My Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo comes with a 330W power supply for example. I used to run Workstation laptops but switched to Gaming. Workstations have better warranty and service but Gaming ones are thinner and more powerful. If you want a laptop with a similar physical feel to Macbook Pro then Razer Blade is your ticket.
I have a feeling that there's something not right with some of the numbers in your accuracy calculation spreadsheet (I assume you made a spreadsheet). For instance, at 11:37, your DC volts spreadsheet, in the 100mV range, the measurement is 100.01mV (your measurement at 8:20 shows 100.04mV, so that's also an error). If at 100.0120mV, the specified error is 0,025% (of reading) +5digits, that's 100.0120mV*0.00025=0.025003mV (within resolution this is 0.03mV)+5digits=0.08mV. So low bound is 100.01mV-0.08mV=99.93mV and high bound is 100.01mV+0.08mV=100.09mV Am I correct? Obviously I'm not gonna check all your values in all your video's, but this might be something for you to check, to see if your spreadsheet is correct.
Thanks so much for finding the error. I have updated the written review on github and OneDrive. I had used the wrong accuracy values in the uncertainty formula for the 100, 250 and 500 mV readings. The new values are: Reading Accuracy Uncertainty Low Bound High Bound 100.01 0.025%±5 0.0750 99.93 100.09 250.02 0.025%±5 0.1125 249.89 250.14 500.05 0.025%±5 0.1750 499.83 500.22 The measurement at 8:20 showing 100.04mV is the live on camera measurement, not the test bench measurement in the written review that the table at 11:37 is generated from. The written review are always done before the video.
You can get this meter for about $30 shipped on aliexpress (including a thermocouple!), so considerably cheaper than your $43. I also don't think it's a real downside that you can only get it on ebay, aliexpress etc. I think most people who buy in this priceclass also buy their electronic components there. Indeed warranty is probably non existent, except for dead on arrival, but that's why you're paying $30. And usually if they work on arrival, they stay working. Too bad you didn't test the low capacitances. My Aneng AN8009 is remarkably accurate around 100pF compared to my LCR meter. I'd also like to see you testing the spacing between the input sockets. If they're the standard 19mm or not.
Can you recommend something under $100?
Three very different meters, it depends on your requirements. Watch the reviews and see in any one might fit your needs. 6,000 Count Uni-T UT161D $80.98 Amazon ruclips.net/video/V6a-Hk71PUE/видео.htmlsi=HzNzmi4uJgDq_wd_ ZOTEK ZT-300AB $29.92 Amazon ruclips.net/video/8b44OY0Zowc/видео.htmlsi=iWUr-YRC9iNyKWjm 19.999 Count ANENG AN870 $42.29 eBay ruclips.net/video/LGFoSmUm_t4/видео.htmlsi=NJCH-LQcFIKi0b02
Wonder what meter you recommend in the $45 to $60 + price range. For general, car and hobbyist use. Many options exists in this range. Most have nice specs too, with reasonable safety, 10-20k points and a few come with silicone leads. Models from; extech, kaiwet, uni-t, owon, mastech, INNOVA, southwire, Aneng, neoteck, asto and FNIRSI fit this description. Thanks for your thorough reviews.
Your requirements are a tall order for a $60 meter. Of all the meters out there I have only tested a small fraction. I have not review a safe, 10-20k count meter for under $115.77 (the Uni-T UT161E Amazon Uni-T Direct). ruclips.net/video/2hj-T_DGwyU/видео.htmlsi=6FFx5Lbw9gUAC57K.
Hello, what is better to choose? Fluke 117 or brymen bm869s. I would use it for electrical wiring, I would have to measure the wastewater of the car or not. Interested in durability, reliability, safety. You want to use what 5 years without repairs after buying. Thanks for the reply.
It depends on many factory: is this for professional or hobby? Can you get support for the meter in your country. The Fluke 117 (ruclips.net/video/b1DzlzbgmI8/видео.htmlsi=r__6BN7vH8abHvaw) has the features and is marketed to electricians. The Brymen BM869s (ruclips.net/video/aSrq3UJt4qU/видео.htmlsi=7qgm3Rd77sj8he_C) has many more features geared towards electronics but does not have the VoltAlert feature of the 117 the some electricians use. Many people who work with electrical wiring also use Clamp Meters, I have not reviewed any clamp meters because my focus is electronics.
@@N8FDY I understand that very well. But which will last longer not spoiled?
The mastech meters at Harbor Freight are under 100 dollars , with no coupon, and are ETL tested.
I looked on the Harbor Freight web site and did not find any mastech meters, but I did find cen-tech and AMES.
Its the worst customer service i ever saw , they transfer my call i was 80 minutes on waiting until 4 pm which they are close and my call automatically drop
Great review. Thx
With 3.2 Volt it can lid up also the white and blue LEDs. 😊
thanks for the review. I was surprised that there were no MOVs or PTCs for protection of the meter. Might also matter to some people :-)
Please review Zoyi ZT-225 or Aneng SZ20
Adafruit: diode test current - August 18th 2024: "Your multimeter is great at testing if a diode works but the forward voltage reading should be taken with a grain of salt. The test current could be 1mA, and if you push 1A through your diode the forward voltage will increase!"
Thanks for finding the quote.
Love your videos. Keep them coming.
This meter and the zt303 are the long time kings of the cheap electronics meter world.
For me i like 189 for bench . For hime service i like fluke 115 or fluke 189
Could you do a review on unit ut117c
The least expensive I found it was for $199, the basic DCV accuracy is 0.3% +-10, that is very poor accuracy for a 60,000 count meter. If someone gave me one I would review it, but with its low accuracy specifications I could not recommend it. The +-10 counts turn it into a 6,000 meter. The ACV accuracy is specified as 1%+-30, a $200 meter should do better than that. You could get a Brymen BM789 for under $200, it is a 60,000 count meter with a basic DCV accuracy of 0.03%+-2 and an ACV of .5%+-30. If you want a lower priced meter from Uni-T go with the UT61E+ for $95, it is a 22,000 count and it has a basic DCV accuracy of 0.05%+-5 and an ACV accuracy of 0.8%+10. The best bargain that I know of so far is the ANENG AN870 for $43 (I will have a review posted by Sunday, unless I get side tracked). It is 20,000 count and It has a basic DCV accuracy of 0.05%+-3 and an ACV accuracy of 0.3%+3.
@N8FDY thank you very much for your reply
Your address is clearly visible at 0:13 onwards
Thanks for you comment. Since I give my call sign, anyone can find my address in QRZ or the FCC callsign database. A ham license is an operator license and a station license. Some hams use a PO Box, but most just use there station address because that where any official FCC communications are sent.
@N8FDY well then nevermind and thank you very much for the explanation 👍👍
Great review. Much more than I was looking for! I hope to use this MM720 for conductive carbon fiber composite resistivity

Does UNI-T UT181A have peak scale like fluke 289?
Never failed when I used it for Engineering, 460vAC, 220vAC, 48vDC, or 24vDC troubleshooting in industrial manufacturing. This in my experience is the best and my career using it corroborates it.
I have Uni-T 181A. I was looking initially at Fluke but I am not buying a used car, just a multimeter, it was insanely expensive - I compared the features set to Uni-T and the Fluke offered less for ~5x the price.
What meter do you recommend for a hobbyist starting to do audio work? Not wanting to break the bank.
Nice review, however the thermal couple was not included in my purchase of the 4282. I had to buy it at an additional 40 bucks. I ordered it directly from Japan.
This channel is great. The videos are really informative but also really chilled out. Definitely deserves a lot more subscribers
