The magnetic strap accessory for this meter is incredibly powerful, great for holding screws or mounting the meter on car panels for example i highly recommend it
Hi, Tom! Thanks for review! I am from Belarus and I had Brymen 785 f(similar model) for several month. My impressions of this meter was great. The only thing that disappointed me was selector switch. It is competely awful!
I highly recommend NiMH batteries as they never leak, hardware stores sell them dirt cheap in the solar lighting section for almost the same price as regular crappy batteries that leak
New Uni-t UT-117C has 60000 counts for price less then 100USD. I'v just receive it. The specs are not impressive but in fact this meter very accurate and good in real use
@@ivolol The current measurements in general seem weak on low levels up to 10mA, but it can manage a big numbers: 10~20 A: Perform measurement continuously for 10 seconds at most, then stop for 15 minutes at least. > 10.00 A: The display screen flashes, and the reading is for reference only. > 20 A: OL is displayed.
I have a brymen235 and the stand is broken and that really ennoys me so I was looking all week for multimeters and I have finally convinced myself I don't need a €650 yellow multimeter xD this is definitely an upgrade over my current one and I like the beep mode on diode mode.
The batteries that came with mine leaked and now the meter doesn't work. Why they still include or make multimeters to use alkaline and not Ni-MH is beyond me. I used it sparingly and it stayed babied on my electronics desk. So much for buying a quality meter, I replaced it with an Aneng AN870. I'll just buy fluke if I need to work on mains.
Hi, thanks for sharing. Where does the BM 789 fall into category can't seem to find very many RUclips videos on that one. Is it not a good meter? Anyone willing to chime in seems that the 786 and the BM 869 to be more popular is that just because it's cheaper or am I missing something? Thanks.
The man just said it's a good meter several times in his conclusion at the end of the video. Read on EEVBlog, many people talking about it. The 869s is much older so there was more time for people to make youtube videos (not many people do multimeter videos anyway)
@@ohaya1 thanks for your reply. My question was mainly why is the 789 not as reviewed by other RUclipsrs? I’m not sure actually when it came out probably is one of their newest meters. I am presuming. I just assumed it was not a popular meter, but like you mentioned, it’s probably newer, so not that many people are reviewing it.
Batteries are all terrible these days I swear! For expensive products like multimeters I always go with lithium or NiMH. Kids toys…eh use Kirkland if they leak and break toy one less thing I have to trip over :)
Tom, thanks for rewiew. You provided a lot of details!
Thank you for this feedback, it helped me a lot in my choice of a multimeter. The measurement tables are a mine of information, I admire this work.
In case anyone is interested in the latest firmware version, I purchased one on 1 August 2024 with version 78913

how is it awful? hard to turn? wobbly?
Thanks for this detailed review. I also purchased this meter from TME. Amazing quality meter and retailer, received from Poland to NJ in about 3 days!
Thank you for your time in creating this detailed and informative review. Cheers!

It only has 6A range though, no mA/uA, I guess that's where they saved some cost.

@@miksupranovich3976 yes but those kind of spec are bog standard for high current range on any meter of this sort of calibre

Thank you very much for your work and your videos. a big hug
Thank you too!

Thank you for a really good video!
Hi Tom may I request to review the aneng q10 by any chance please answer thank you
The Aneng Q10 looks very much like the Zotek ZT-Y. I am reviewing the ZT-Y in the group of 10000 to 20000 count meters.
