Tattoos, Wheelies, and Fast Horses
Join me in todays Wyoming ranching VLOG as we take care of dad's registered bull calves. Since they are registered purebred animals, we have to get yearling weights on them, and give them permanent identification tattoos in their ears. The theme of this episode is "simple thrills". A couple things that I love to do are riding my dirtbike and popping wheelies, and running my mare LJ across the hay meadow occasionally. What are your simple thrills in life? Please leave them in the comments section if you feel like it :) Thanks for watching and have an awesome week!

Solo Horseback Ride
Просмотров 3,5 тыс.14 дней назад
Join me in todays Wyoming ranching VLOG as I head up into the hills on my trusty mare, LJ, to gather some stray bulls that have been missing from the big bunch of cows. I went solo on today's ride, as all my kids have started the school year and are busy at their studies. In this episode you will see some cool wildlife, some beautiful country, explore an old homestead site with me, and and get ...
Cowboyin' (A Nine Year Old's Perspective)
Просмотров 1,7 тыс.14 дней назад
Join me in todays Wyoming ranching VLOG as we undertake some fall cattle work. This episode is unique because it is from the point of view of Daniel, my nine year old son. You know, one of my favorite things about living the ranch life, is being able to work with my family. Pretty much every task that needs to be accomplished on the ranch, we do with the help of mom and dad, my wife and I, and ...

Join me in todays Wyoming ranching VLOG as we face a frightening and inevitable component of ranch life in the summer: fire season. This summer has shaped up to be one of the worst fire seasons in some time, with ample fuel and very hot, dry temperatures. Many fires have been burning in our area over the past few weeks, and we had been hoping to avoid any getting started on our place. But, not ...
Making Hay (While the Sun Shines)

Join me in todays Wyoming ranching VLOG as I make some tasty round bales for the cows to eat this winter. We have been raking and baling early in the morning to try and get the optimal moisture content in the bales (15-20%). 🔴 Subscribe for more Wyoming Working Ranch Content: ruclips.net/channel/UC8_Dple4MPniCfMivLwqehQ Share this video with a friend: ruclips.net/video/ut5MhzoO6tQ/видео.htmlsi=...
Want to Raise Cattle?... Better Make Hay
Просмотров 2,6 тыс.3 месяца назад
Join me in todays Wyoming ranching VLOG as we get geared up for haying season. Yes sir, its that time of the year, all the cattle are where they need to be for the summer, the calves are branded, and now it is time to roll up some hay so we can keep the girls fed next winter. As per usually, we jumped in the swather and started cutting and induced a nice spontaneous rain storm :) But no worries...
Learning About Pigs (the hard way)
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.3 месяца назад
Join me in todays Wyoming ranching VLOG as we have quite a oinky pig adventure. We decided to buy three weaner pigs from a local grower and try our hand at raising them this summer. Everything was going well until we unloaded them into our new pig pen... but then, they escaped! Pandemonium! They were able to run right through hogwire panels and did so within about 30 seconds of being turned loo...
Putting Our Brand on these Calves
Просмотров 1,7 тыс.4 месяца назад
Join me in todays Wyoming ranching VLOG as we put our brand on about 100 head of calves in preparation for hauling them to the grazing association where they will spend the summer. We started the day at 6:30 am with some great riding help and got the cows gathered into the corral. I was riding a new young horse that I haven't spent a lot of time on, and she was definitely a handful this morning...
Crazy Wyoming Rancher Gathers Cows on Dirt Bike!?
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.4 месяца назад
Join me in todays Wyoming ranching VLOG and I'll show you how I utilize some non-conventional tools (dirtbike) to get ranch work done. In the last episode, I got the calf branding setup all put together, and now its time to gather the cows so we have something to brand! Follow along as I cruise through the hills and gather 100 pairs so we can get them branded tomorrow and turned out on their su...
How I Brand Calves | Part 1
Просмотров 1,7 тыс.4 месяца назад
Join me in todays Wyoming ranching VLOG and I'll show you how we brand calves here on the ranch. Branding calves is always a central feature of our springtime work. Four years ago, we switched from the more traditional rope/drag/wrestle method of branding to a hydraulic calf table. In this episode, I will show you how our calf table system works, how I set it up, and show you where we will be g...
Milk Cow Adventures
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.4 месяца назад
Join me in todays Wyoming ranching VLOG as we attend to our Brown Swiss milk cow named LuLu. LuLu calved last night and gave birth to a healthy, strong 50/50 Brown Swiss/Black Angus calf. The weather is really nasty this week with rain blowing in sideways, but we had to brave the storm and get Lu and her new calf in the barn and start milking her to make sure she doesn't get mastitis. Boy does ...
Good Fences = Good Neighbors
Просмотров 3,3 тыс.5 месяцев назад
Join me in todays Wyoming ranching VLOG for some spring time fencing work. Spring has sprung here on the ranch, and that means it is time to start going around fences before we turn cows out. This fencing project is a good one to tackle as the cows were leaking back and forth into the neighbors all summer last year. We hired a fencing contractor to build pipe braces and move a little stretch of...
Alpacas: Pretty Much the Coolest Animals Ever!
Просмотров 1,5 тыс.5 месяцев назад
Join me in todays Wyoming ranching VLOG for a little change of pace. This week, I though you might be interested to get a sneak peak into the wonderful, quirky nature of Alpacas! My 86 year old grandmother, Linen, who has ranched and cared for stock basically her whole adult life, found herself having "empty corral syndrome" after she and her husband sold their cows to me. So, they decided to f...

Theres really nothing like riding. I love being on a horse or on a motorcycle - but theres something about a horse that hits different (and not just my nutsack to the saddle)

I had a thoroughbred off the track. I could feel his heart start to race as we got to the edge of the giant field. I would let him go as fast as his legs would take us. He would side kick and have the time of his life! I just held on for dear life. Those were the BEST days ever!! Talk about freedom!

I raised a mule from birth on our property when I was a kid. One of my favorite memories was getting off the bus, he would see the lights flashing from the pasture and I would call out his name; “JASPERRRR”, he would come heehawing, dancing along the fence until I came up and rubbed his big ears ❤

The last time I went wide open on a horse, my great grandpa "Twitch" said "That's how you ruin a good horse". 10 yo me felt so bad, I never really did anything too epic with my own horse. Which seems ironic to me now because my horse had spry energy for days, homie needed a whole nother brain just to stay safe. Last time I rode, we tripped and fell, my knee got stuck under the saddle horn. Very greatful for the experience though, Stormy stayed very calm, and lie still until help came. very cool horse.
