Inspired by Emma (2020) and Bridgerton, as I’m sure many others have been, I have started sewing Regency clothes. As I am quite new to historical costuming this is my first time making something from this period.
I made short stays in the last video, and while they turned out great, they do not look good under regency clothes because of my larger bust. So I’ve decided to start agai...

Try using glass head pins to pin pleats, small seam allowances or other problem areas to the ironing board before pressing. There are also finger protectors that you can get to keep from getting burned when ironing.

Your dress 👗 is so cute and looks so nice on you! I have a suggestion for the facings: instead of using the wool fabric, use a thinner fabric such as cotton which would be sturdy enough to handle the movement of your arms and back. Happy sewing!

If you hand running stitche the seams between panels, it will be a lot stronger and you won't need the extra ribbon on the seams, if you want a cleaner look.

I have to pull my short stays out of 'time out' this month. I too have real-estate issues - plump, curvy, busty, short waisted, sway backed. I was new to sewing and thought making a myriad of adjustments on a tight fitting garment would be easy {insert laugh track... here}. When last we met, I increased the depth of the bodice, widened the circumference, shortened the straps and futzed with the gores. And added 1890's style boning to the bust just to help with... containment. Looking back, I'm probably closer to a proper fit than I think. And, like you, this was my first printed pattern. Yours look lovely. Well done. - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi

To answer your eyelet questions. Eyelets are one piece grommets are 2 piece. They are much stronger that way. They do come in standard sizes. I like 00 size for corsets.
