Thank you for sharing your cassette collection with us! Growing up, we had a very musical household so we were always listening to records and tapes. I wish I had kept my cassettes - they were stored in a leather briefcase-style case. Sometimes, I would open it up and just stare at all the spines, making lists in my mind of all my favourites.

I'm looking forward to buying Perfect Days. I'm planning on getting it for the next Criterion sale.

I am casually searching for a good tape player at Goodwill. I have too many old cassettes (some not available in other formats) to give up on them.

Glad to see you enjoying our wonderful British artists from back in the day 😀 I also like Nick Lowe and especially Elvis Costello. I lived in Japan for most of the 90s and I was fortunate enough to catch him at The Royal Albert Hall in the mid 90s during a short trip back home. He and The Attractions were doing three dates as part of a reunion of sorts which turned into an incredible night. Although I don’t have any original cassettes or vinyl any more, I do have some of the original 80s mastered CDs which all sound like I first remember them. Regards to Jessie and enjoy your week.

Love it! I almost picked up the Akerman set myself. I went with The Red Balloon and Other Stories, Hôtel du Nord, The Naked Island, and Le samouraï in 4K (upgrade from my DVD edition).

That's too bad about your Big Lots. I went to my local store yesterday and found a DVD of Josie and the Pussycats, all 16 episodes for 8 dollars, which I think is cheaper than online. So i got it

With the weather recently, Id recommend carrying an umbrella in the backseat of the car. Last October, I watched 1 Universal Monster Movie a day with the 30 movie pack.

Wow! You really do get some wild weather in your part of the world. In comparison, I guess we’re lucky here in Wales. Storms aren’t frequent and only last a short while. You two have such similar tastes as my husband and I when it comes to directors and we also grab lots when we find someone we like. Jim Jarmusch is wonderful and Paul Thomas Anderson is one of my personal favourites. As soon as I saw Hard Eight I was hooked - such an amazing introduction. I've been getting a lot of Criterions of Amazon with random flash sales. I've picked up nearly 20 in the last few months and ones that are really hard to find and at good prices - under $20 USD! Look there.

Maybe I'll buy it from the Criterion website, since I got my eye on the Made in U.S.A DVD.

I stopped watching The Walking dead at season 8, i need to start up again, Disney plus is getting all the new series soon. Luckily we don't get Tornado's in Britain but it must be very scary at times.

Great haul! I got Chimes at Midnight, Revanche, Jellyfish Eyes, Five Easy Pieces, Election, Show Boat, I am Cuba, Peeping Tom, A Hollis Frampton Odyssey, The Life of Oharu, To Die For, Risky Business, La Haine, Le Samurai, Le Silence de La mer, The Philadelphia Story, and Picnic at Hanging Rock.

So great to hear you love Aki Kaurismäki films, a lot of gems in his filmography. If anything I’d say his earlier films are the stronger. His La Vie de Boheme is also on Criterion. The Curzon box set is fantastic, an absolute must. He used to art director the posters, so the yellow titles are him too. He released Fallen Leaves earlier this year, there’s a Mubi blu ray. I’ve yet to watch it, as his work is to be savored. My pick ups were Pat Garrett and Lone Star. Titles I’d been eyeing for months. Thanks for the great vids!

Haul 1 Trainspotting 4K To Die For 4K Roaring Twenties 4K Haul 2 Risky Business 4K Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid 4K I wanted the Peeping Tom 4K but none of the stores in my area had it in stock and it was out of stock on the B&N website. I’ll just have to wait until the October flash sale or the November B&N sale.

Had to comment since I've started having the Criterion Channel, I've watched Cleo from 5 - 7 (Ackerman) and Claire's Knee (Roehmer) in the last few days. Curtailed my Want List in favor of Watch Lists on both the Channel and Max. So far I've only bought Tree of Life (Malick) and Defending Your Life (Albert Brooks) while eyeing dozens of recommendations from you & other youtubers.

I got I am Cuba, Eric Rohmer’s Box Set and Peeping Tom! Sometime I will order too Akerman’s box set !

Does your apartment complex have a common use movie theater for all the residents to use? My old one had one here in WV.

My only pickups were the ones I believe I posted at the start of the month-a fistful of 4Ks. I’m quarantining (COVID) for the rest of the week, but might go out Saturday because “Peeping Tom” (4K) is out online, but in a couple local stores (go figure).

Have u seen The Carlos biopic, starring Edgar Ramirez? If not, I'd recommend it Dave.

Just picked up Perfect Days, but haven't watched it yet. On a side note, went to Barnes and Noble in Peoria IL, and they had the biggest Criterion section I have seen, even in videos. A center table with new criterion stacked 5 to 10 of each Movie and a huge wall full of criterion. As I had already bought several this month I plan to go back to that store for the November sale.

Love the asmr-like ambiance of the car ride. It reminded me of the last episode of Twin Peaks the Return. This long driving scenes of Cooper brining Carrie Page back to twin peaks. Loves that.

Yes, Pandora’s Box is a re-release from Criterion. Edited to add: I think my most favourite double feature is Dracula (1931) & Frankenstein (1931)
