I was surprised to find that all of the Criterion films had been removed from the display at my Barnes and Noble. What's happening at your local store?

The Barnes and Noble near me has literally never had a movie section! I've lived here for 8 years and had never seen one without movies until this location. Personally breaks my heart as a film buff...

Yes, very sad. During my last visit, I asked where the Criterions were and they had to bring a shipping box from the back room for me to look through.

@@CinemaDaveMedia That takes away the fun of just casually perusing through the shelves.

Hey Dave! Yeah, I've noticed that some brick and mortar Barnes and Noble's have got rid of their Criterion's and some haven't. I noticed one got rid of their blu rays and DVDs but they have kept their Criterion's. I usually order online when those sales come up. That way, I'm guaranteed to get what I want.

Hello. Yes, same here, I typically order online though I do enjoy browsing when I'm in the Barnes and Noble.

@@CinemaDaveMedia When the July and November sales come, I usually order a ton of Criterion's because they are half price. I'm also a Barnes and Noble member so I don't have to pay for shipping. When I'm in a Barnes and Noble store during the sale, sometimes I've picked up a few then. Barnes and Noble has started some special deal where if you spend a certain amount from them, you get a discount or don't have to pay for some of your stuff. I don't know the exact details, but I got one Criterion free and another half free due to my spending money on Criterion's in November of last year.

It is weird how the B&N stores varie by location. I wish that they would be more consistent. I would think that they would want to have their Criterion titles out and prevalent for the shoppers.

Yes, I agree. The people at the register said you could call ahead to see if they had certain titles. Maybe just an issue with the smaller stores.

I wonder if this is due to theft. My store still has a large Criterion section, but they've moved any releases that aren't the standard clear cases to their own top section of a bookcase behind the registers. One positive of this is that they don't use any spiderwraps on them as no one can get to them aside from the employees.

Yes, very possible which is sad to hear. There were none behind the counter but at the register they said they would check the back if I had a title in mind. I love to browse so this doesn’t seem practical but I do understand why smaller stores might be doing this.

Mine has actually doubled in their stock

Wow, that’s great. This might just be happening with the smaller stores but still sad to see.
