A TALE OF 2 LENSES: Fujinon 50mm f2 & Canon 85mm f1.8 for Street Photography? (Feat. Fujifilm X-T4)
Просмотров 10 тыс.3 года назад
❗️CORRECTION: I had a brain fart and referred to the Canon 85mm lens as having an f/2.8 aperture throughout the whole video. You have done it now. This is an addictive hobby. Minolta, Canon FD and FDn, Olympus, Konica.... they are wonderful. They render with such character. I love lenses of today as well, but they all have that ultra-clear look, as if you are not looking through glass anymore. The flaws of the older lenses give them charm. They distort in pleasing ways. They glow in pleasing ways. They just have a way of moving you in an artistic way, somehow.

M42 mounts are for the win! There is soooo many obscure pieces of glass that generate cool results! Good luck if you want one for anything that revolves around fast or irratic moving subjects 😅

I like the Olympus lenses because of their color rendering. Currently the Olympus OM-System G.Zuiko Auto-S 55mm f1.2 1974 Radioactive 3389 CPM lens has my interest for product photography. I like the Super Takumar. I have one. I really like the Mamiya Sekor C 645 lenses, but used without a booster on a Sony A7Rii. I find using just the inside area of the glass is very interesting. Other lenses I like, the 1966 Jupiter 9 with Lilac lens coating. Also, the Auto Rikenon 55mm f1.4 radioactive or not. I have 38 vintage lenses... at this point tonight. Oh, I have and like old Fuginon lenses.

So the 50mm lens on a Fuji becomes 75mm Portrait. Just be aware of the many R.A lenses; generally if they have pretty rainbow colours on the lens or tend to look brown they are radio active, Some people don't mind them but the ones to be aware of are those that have the rear element thorium glass as it's closer to your eye. Best buying 1950s early 60s lenses. The lenses your showing look thorium, you can find a list of some of the lenses on the internet.

I have Fuji XE4 with 27mm 2.8. It's tight frame and video quality is awful. Too shaky. I shifted from Nikon D5500. Cant say I am enjoying Fuji so far. Seems like the wrost decision I have taken in photography.

I hadn't owned a proper camera in nearly 20 years...in fact the last camera I owned used film😅 so when I decided to get back into it I settled on the XT4 a couple of years ago and I couldn't be happier. I've been thoroughly impressed with its performance as both a still and a video camera. Mine came with the 16-80 lense, which has been a great all arounder lense and I've picked up a couple of primes as well. The Fuji Film color processing in camera is fantastic and with all the different classic film color and texture profiles I almost never bother with post editing work. Im looking right now at getting a few more pieces of kit, whether it's a couple of more photography lenses or possibly building out a video rig either way I'm glad I picked this camera.

i have 4 vintage lenses and i have to reason myself out of buying more. I have a pentax 135mm 2.8, a canon fd n 50mm 1.8, a vivitar fd n 28mm 2.8, a vivitar fd telephoto zoom 70-210mm 3.5, and two fd teleconvertors, i love them all for different reasons but im more partial to the three non zooms. I have canon fd’s cause i use my lenses on a canon f1 okd slr and the in body connections that communicate to the body for the lightmeter are useful for me, and i also use my lenses with an adapter in apsc crop cameras. I also recently got a tifeen 0.64 wide angle converter for the 28mm. I have researched all my lenses for wuality sharpness color rendition flaring and quality of build, and love them, especially since i got each one for deals of under 30 dollars each. I also just particularly love 28 mm on crop sensor cause i find the 45-42mm effective focal length refreshing in contast to the average 50 mm. If anyone wants great reviews on individual cheap to expensive vintage lenses check out the channel zenography for sure lol, she mentioned at the end 😂.

Hi Kristin.....If you feel awkward pointing your camera at someone, don't forget that you have a tilt screen on the X100V, and by using it no one knows that you are taking a picture of them, for all they know, you could be adjusting the settings on the top of your camera. 🙂

Don´t wanna be the wise-ass, but the default position of a hot shoe for a flash is always on top of the center of the lens. The xe4 is still a camera for photography. But I´m pretty sure there are cages and handles with practical mounting options for microphones out there.

Both are really great! But the X100 series have some uniqueness interchangeable cameras don't have. The built in ND filter, high speed flash sync. Nothing beats that. I use it all the time, especially the built in ND filter. Shooting at f2.0 in sunny daylight + adding a mini bit of fill in flash. The X-E4 has its own strengths.

TIP: In classic photo portraiture we would choose a background that CONTRASTS to the subject like grey-blues with diffused cloud effects. This separates and pushes the smooth warm skin-tones of the subject forward giving great 3D colour plane separation of the portrait and a lovely colour variance in the total image!
