SVG Tuts [SVG Cut File Tutorials]
США
Добавлен 10 май 2022
CREATE YOUR OWN SVG Cut Files! Buying them or getting them free from sites like Creative Fabrica, Design Bundles and so on is great. Doing so lets you get right into crafting. However, consider this…
Did you know that when you stop paying for memberships to many sites selling SVG files you can no longer use the files obtained via the memberships?
Also, the SVG files you acquire [even freebies] come with licensing limits you must adhere to in order to use the SVG files.
EVEN FREE IS NOT FREE. You may not pay for some of the SVG files you get, but you often have to give up contact information to get the freebies. Sites giving away free SVG files may also be selling your information in exchange for the freebies.
These are not necessarily bad things. They just are things to know and consider.
I’m not suggesting you never download free SVG files and/or buy them. I just want you to have the option to make your own! This is what SVG Tuts is all about! Join me. It’s going to be fun!

Create the "Hey Fall. Hey!" SVG Cut File in Adobe Express with help from Creative Fabrica & PhotoPea
I'm wondering if you can help me with something else? I have an envelope on design space, I make a smaller offset to create a liner for the envelope. The shape has no contours so I cannot hide anything but I want to cut off the sides that are the flaps, as well as the bottom flap. I don't need all of that for the liner. So far I have been unable to figure it out.
Are you using a file from Cricut Design Space, or is this an envelope that you designed yourself? If it's a Cricut Design Space file, may I have the file number, please? And, just to make sure I'm understanding what you're trying to accomplish, let me type it back to you... You want to make a liner for the middle part of the envelope without the liner also covering the side and bottom flaps. Let me know if I have that right.
thank you so much for the idea to name each grouping that will save me so much headache. Do you have any ideas on how to make it so words dont come out like blobs with print then cut.
You're welcome. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. Can you give me some more details about your process? Are you using Cricut fonts or your own fonts? Are the letters in your words intended to be cut-outs? I haven't yet experienced my words coming out like blobs, but I'm very interested to know how you're setting up your cut file.
Excellent tutorial. Just what I needed.
Thank you. I appreciate you watching and commenting. 🙂
Thanks!
Thank you so much for the Super Thanks! Every penny of it is greatly appreciated!!!
This is so amazing. Ty so much. This tutorial is my quick go too.
Awesome! You're welcome, and thank you for watching and commenting!
I do not know how to properly thank you. I have spent days and days trying to figure this out. To have stranger on youtube answer my question (and promtly) is unbelievable. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Aw, you're most welcome, and I'm glad the video tutorial helped. There's a "thanks" button on all my videos where you can make a love offering if you're so inclined. ♥ It's not mandatory by any means, but every little bit helps to support the channel and make it possible for me to help others. Please feel to reach out with other questions. 🙂
Please help! Thank you for this video, it is very helpful. I am having difficulty with print then cut. I have a rectangle shape and within the shape I have words and an additional shape (antlers). I want the words printed, but the rectangle and the interior shape cut out. So it is an invitation with the antlers cut out toward the bottom of the rectangle. I cannot do it! I can only cut everything or just the exterior shape which is the rectangle. I cannot get the antlers to also be cut. Is there a way to flatten only some of the layers? I can only select all or none.
Thank you for watching and commenting with a request for assistance. I'll make a video for you and have it posted soon, as in today! I just want to test the cut before making the video to make sure that I'm giving you solid information.
@@SVGTutsthank you!!

So I am still a little confused. All I would like to do is print an mage, with the offset, onto HTV and then iron it on. Do I have to print then cut on my printer with printable vinyl for this to work? Hope this makes sense, thank you.

Can you do this method on htv vinyl or what could you use to go on a shirt? I normally do sublimation but have a couple of tiny shirts with an emblem and name.
Thanks for your question. Yes, you should be able to do this with HTV. I don't see any issue with that.
I can't tell you how thankful I am for you and this video! I have been searching for this exact workaround for a few days, and I found your site this morning! It was precise and easy to follow! THANK YOU!!!

Would it be easier to do this in Canva?
@@barbra429 Thanks for your question. I'm not sure what you mean. Which part do you think would be easier in Canva?
@SVGTuts I was just wondering if it would be faster.
I'm thinking you're asking, "Wouldn't it be faster/easier to create the file in Canva?" Is that what you're asking?
@@SVGTuts LOL, yes.
Okay. I just wanted to make sure I'm addressing the right question. 🙂 This video is a following up to this video ruclips.net/video/Fon4TW0KCGk/видео.html. This video's purpose is to specifically address what to do if you created the file in Cricut Design Space and you want to use it elsewhere. As for creating files in Canva, it would seem the obvious answer to your question would be "Of course," but FOR ME it's not that simple. Canva was never meant to be a tool for making printables. I would say that's one of the reasons downloading their files as SVGs (which is only available if you're a paying user) doesn't get you a TRUE vector file. I use Canva for things I intend to use on the web, things that do not require 300dpi, but I use true vector tools for things I intend to print. The "Hustle Mode On" file is something I would print, so I'd use Cricut Design Space or Adobe Illustrator or CorelVector or Kittl or Inkscape or PhotoPea or Silhouette Design Studio or another tool that has been designed to create true vectors, which create points and paths and not pixels/dots. Thanks again for the question, because I'm sure you're not the only one who was also thinking along those same lines. 🙂
I got it to work, it was so easy after I watched your tutorial.
Awesome! I'm so glad to hear that! 🎉 Do you mind sharing the things you needed to modify to get it to work the way you needed it to?
@SVGTuts Well, I didn't understand how to use the offset option, nor the contouring. I also didn't realize I needed to Change it to a basic cut, then back to print and cut. I just learned so much.
Awwww. Got it.
Thanks!
I appreciate your help. You are a wonderful teacher!
Thanks so much for the super! ❤
@@SVGTuts You are very welcome.
Do you have a thanks button for your channel
I just enabled it. Thank you for asking and reminding me about it. 🙂
Do you have a video on getting good quality print and cut from Pngs imported from Canva and Etsy, please?
Thanks for your question. Can you please expound a bit more on what exactly you need help with? Is it the Print Then Cut itself or the quality of the PNGs or something else?
@SVGTuts Hi. So, I make greeting cards in Canva. I create the text and graphics in Canva. I have to then download and save to my desktop. I then upload to cricut. But, when I print and cut the card. The text doesn't look crisp, it looks kinda blurry. Basically, it seems the quality of the image changes once uploaded and printed in Cricut.
@SVGTuts I print on heavy cardstock, using the photo setting and best print quality. I also set it to 300 dpi.
Are you using Canva free or Canva Pro?
"I print on heavy cardstock, using the photo setting and best print quality. I also set it to 300 dpi." <-- Got it. I don't think that the printing part is the issue. I'm thinking it may be the exporting part.
Excellent tutorial!!

HI..this print and cut is a pain....So please lets say I am using shapes so I have ten shapes which i want printed and cut but underneath each shape i have text name of the shape which i just want it printed not cut... i have a shape of a heart and underneath have a text saying (heart) which i just want it to remain printed not cut. thank you hope am making sense.🤔how do i do this please??
Hello, and thanks for your question. If you have a shape and then text under the shape, and you want them printed out and then cut together, you will need to have either an offset or another shape under both. Please view my video for a visual explanation svgtuts.com/4-johnie2580 Apologies for the rough video. I didn't do any editing, because I wanted to get it done quickly for you.
@@SVGTuts Thank you for your quick reply I appreciate it ...Basically am making a sticker for my Dj Contoller paper size is A3 which inside will have circles, squares and rectangles where the nobs and buttons will fit after cutting, but underneath each of this cuts there's wording for each nobs and buttons which will be covered by the stick when applied...That is what I want printed and not cut . Basically the whole of my A3 paper will have all the shapes cut within not individually which the cricut is doing perfectly but also messing with the small printed wording underneath.
@@SVGTuts I just wish they would make it simple on that menu. -Basic Cut -Print -Print and Cut Bla bla
@@johnie2580 Aw, got it. Were you able to get it to print and cut like you want it yet?
@@johnie2580 The way you flatten in the key. I think what would make it easier if it the Cricut could actually print. 😆 It's the two-step process of printing on a printer and then taking that page and having the Cricut cut it in all the right places without cutting in all the places you don't want it to cut that makes it so darn hard.
Thank You, for the step by step.
You're welcome. Apologies for the delay in replying, and thank you for watching and commenting. I'll be doing another video on this same subject with another way to accomplish this! I hope you'll check out that video, too!

Hi, been watching your tutorials on how to avoid printing our each letter. I just want to create some greeting for my iris fold cards (i.e. Happy Anniversary). I want to print directly onto gold or silver shimmer vinyl. What color should the lettering & offset be?
Thanks for watching my tutorials and commenting. When you say, " I want to print directly onto gold or silver shimmer vinyl," I'm thinking specifically of Cricut's Printable Vinyl in gold and silver cricut.pxf.io/q4Y5Xg. If you want the gold/silver to show through for the lettering, then make the offset a dark color (like black or dark purple or dark brown) and make the lettering white. If you want the offset to show in gold/silver around the lettering, and you want the lettering to have a fill color, then fill the lettering with the color(s) you want and make the offset white. Unless you have an inkjet printer that prints with white ink from a white ink cartridge/tank, the printer will ignore the white as if the vinyl you're printing on is white. I hope that answers the question you asked. If I totally missed the mark, please let me know, and I'll try to clarify.
Thank you! You are a real lifesaver❤

the grid feature is just a nightmare ! Only one suppression, and you must restart on the beginning, think in advance of how much pictures you have (and how in landscape, portrait mode). the worst decision they could have made... While Canva is becoming increasingly powerful, especially since they announced an alliance with Affinity!
I can't believe Adobe hasn't brought the collage maker back to Adobe Express yet., especially since they announced that it would be coming back. Sigh. I tried using the grid system thingy, but it was a bust for me. I didn't try it again. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Do you know if there are differences between a PC or a MAC. I am on a MAC and go to 'make-it' the only option it gives me is my registered cutter. Or am I on a later version of Cricut (than when you made this video) where they closed the loophole so people can no longer export anything?
Thanks for your question. Did you set the design to Print Then Cut before going to Make It? I'm booting up my Macbook right now to see if there i indeed any difference between Cricut Design Space on the PC and Mac.
@@SVGTuts - Wondering what you discovered.
Apologies for the delay, Joseph. My Macbook is super old and took forever to boot up, and then I got distracted by something else and let the task totally slip my mind. Please forgive me. I'm NOT seeing the option to Save as PDF on my Mac. However, this might not be a difference between PC and Mac in as much as it is the fact that I do not have Acrobat or Acrobat Reader installed on my Mac. I did try to install Acrobat Reader, but the Macbook is so old it can't handle the latest version of Acrobat Reader, and I was not able to find an older version of it to install. I do have the Adobe Creative Cloud suite on my PC, which comes with Adobe Acrobat, and several applications that I have on my PC have PDF functionality built into them, so that may be why I can do PDF from Cricut Design Space on my PC. I have discovered another way to do the conversion from Cricut Design Space to standalone SVG, which does not require Acrobat at all. I'll be posting it within the next several days. I will reply to your question here to let you know it's live.
Your videos are always so clear. Thank you!

Funny you say that” I have this thing about language.” I’m the same way when I try and explain things 👍
Yes, explaining things with the correct words and phrases cuts down on confusion.
Thank you for this video! After struggling with this exact issue of cutting all inside text, I finally found your video. Followed your instructions, which are easy to follow, however when I get to the last step of hitting flatten after grouping, it is greyed out and cannot flatten the whole design. Any suggestions?
Hello, thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate your time! Are you saying that FLATTEN is greyed out?
@@SVGTuts yes. Thanks so much for getting back to me! So when I removed the scoring lines and the background square cut I was able to group all the graphics and text. I was then able to flatten them. However, when I attached it back to the scoring lines and background, it cut out the outside shape of the flattened graphics & text and the outside square. How do I connect it to a background & have it only cut the background out? Don't know if this makes sense without seeing what I was making, but thanks for any insight you may have!

II have so many glitches/malfunction issues with design space ( align function and letter sizing not working, text editing menu not showing, editable images not editing etc…)that I am wondering if I should delete the program and reinstall it (again). Would that help?
On what device are you using Cricut Design Space; a laptop/desktop, tablet or phone? Also, are you using the live version or the beta version of Cricut Design Space?
Absolutely, a great video. Tahnk you, thank you 🙏
Aw, thanks! You are absolutely welcome! 🙂 Thanks for watching and commenting.
Hi Faydra my question is not in regards to this video. My align button is not working. The align menu shows that the “ align center is already checked off and so nothing happens when I click on it. Why is that happening? It’s driving me crazy
Hey, Tatiana. If Align Center is disabled, that usually means that what you're trying to center is already centered or you haven't selected two or more layers that need to be centered.
Hi Faydra thank you for your reply. That makes sense. It’s happening when I try to center my text in one of those Cricut editable (pantry) labels Do you lead any Cricut course? That would be awesome
Oh! It's happening with text! This is something I need to create a video on. If I'm thinking of this correctly, then it has something to do with the font properties as to why it's not centering properly and won't let you center it. I'll work on a video. Yes, I'll be doing Cricut courses in the very near future, and I'll be doing live video conferences once I get my community site, SVG Tuts Crew, finished.
I’m looking forward to attending one of your live class/course. When you do, where would you post the class announcement?
I'll post it here on RUclips and in the SVG Tuts Crew community. 🙂
Thank you....
You're welcome. Thanks for watching and commenting. 🙂I appreciate your time.
Faydra why did the yellow layer get removed from the group once you removed the black part of the heart ( you didn’t need)? Why are there two solid black hearts on the layers panel? I find the layers panel confusing. Do you have a video explaining how to work with the layers panel?
Tatiana, first let me apologize for taking so long to reply. Please forgive my delay, and thank you for your questions. Your question: why did the yellow layer get removed from the group once you removed the black part of the heart? My best answer: I really don't know why it does that. I'm thinking that Cricut Design space is "seeing" it as a new layer and removes it from the group and makes it a standalone layer because I selected it but didn't select anything else in that group. It appears that Cricut Design Space "saw" that yellow layer as now a part of the layers that go with the SLICEs that were created from my last request. Your question: Why are there two solid black hearts on the layers panel? My best answer: When you create an offset, you're creating a duplicate of what's on top of the offset. In my example, when I SLICEd two things--the original design and the offset--I got three results/layers--the original design is on one layer, the part of the offset under the original design is another layer and the part of the offset outside the original design is another layer. You're not actually seeing two black hearts. There's one that does look black, but it's just the visual representation of what's in the grouped layers of the original design, which looks black because it's so tiny. Your question: I find the layers panel confusing. Do you have a video explaining how to work with the layers panel? My answer: I do not have a video on working with layers, but I'm going to make one or more because you've given me the idea. 🙂 Thanks for letting me know you'd be interested in that type of video tutorial. In the meantime, check out my short video of how to get cheat sheets from learn.cricut.com ruclips.net/video/uLyEWPdnLTs/видео.html. There's a free one about working with layers.
