Jeep Dodge Chrysler 3.6L Lower Oil Pan Leak Fix. Don't Get Ripped Off If It's Your Lower Pan.

Jeep in video is a '17 Grand Cherokee with the 3.6L. My labor guide said over 4 hrs to do the Pan but did not show the lower pan. Don't let the repair shop rip you off by charging to fix the upper pan if they are only repairing the lower pan leak. This is how to fix it. It isn't a 5 minute fix but definitely quicker than doing the upper pan.

    Great video but you have to bleed with the bleeder valve screw on these 4.7 otherwise you'll never get the air pockets out of cooling system I learned the hardway

    Followed your video and all was smooth. One suggestion on the top machine screw is to dab a small amount of petroleum jelly (I bought a couple ounce tube and keep it in my toolbox) to hold the screw on the wrench tip.

    How did you get the air bubbles out the system

    • @okcvet1st
      @okcvet1st 25 дней назад

      I check for bleed valves on all vehicles before anything else and open them to start the process. Some vehicles have them, most don't. I run most vehicles with the radiator/degas bottle cap off until they reach operating temp. The thermostat should open, which you can normally tell when all coolant hoses are warm/hot to the touch. Once it runs for a while and gets fully warm, I shut it off and let it fully cool. Recheck coolant level. Then I drive it at highway speeds for about 30 min. Let it cool down and recheck coolant level. I do use a pressure cap setup when needed. Warming vehicles up to operating temp with the radiator cap off, then letting them fully cool, usually gets the bubbles out. Do not drive the vehicle with the radiator or degas cap off. The process may have to be repeated several times, depending on the vehicle and situation.

    Many thanks for the heads up. I went to the dealer yesterday, and despite the fact I am in warranty, they wanted me to book in for 2 weeks time AND PAY $A484 to cover the diagnosis and repair, and they would make the assessment of whether the damage was within the warranty. I told them what to with that attitude, and followed your instructions to find one of the poles on the facade broken, with the screw still in It, and the other side had the plastic collar broken where the screw enters its hole. This means the collar is useless, AND… THE FACADE piece is useless. On a 2.5 yr old car. I am 67 yr old normal bloke who doesn’t own an SRT, so I’m not a hoon… oops, did I say that out loud… 🤣👍🤷🏻‍♂🚙

    My 2005 does the same thing I let it warm up about 30 minutes. Transmission light comes on when I crank it up, but I don’t move it after the temperature is up on the car. I turn the switch off and on three times before cranking it up again and it clears it out And if I do it too soon, it goes in limp mode. I have to unhook the battery and start over again. This works perfect every time.

    • @okcvet1st
      @okcvet1st Месяц назад

      It's working kind of like using compressed air to create a low-pressure zone, which allows it to create a vacuum for various applications. A venturi type effect. The exhaust air/flow is going past the tip of the measuring device, in a way causing a vacuum. It usually occurs by having the tip pointed towards the downward flow of the air or in a position on the exhaust pipe that causes the venturi effect. In turn, you'll get vacuum instead of pressure, which is usually good because it shows you have no resistance and your catalytic converter is free flowing.

    • @okcvet1st
      @okcvet1st 2 месяца назад

      5.2 qts is correct for the vehicle in this video. That year had different options. This one is a 4 cyl and the trans called for 5.2 qts. You have to make sure you know what you have and the vehicles match. The best thing to do is call the dealership parts dept with your vin number, and they'll tell you what it calls for from the factory.
