Flosstube #25: Holiday Stitches & All the Finishes
Did you source the green Gloriana skeins that you need? I have a LNS near me that carries Gloriana and I’d be happy to check if you let me know the colors you need, I was already planning to go there this week. 🙂
You and I have the same holiday schedule. Immediately after Thanksgiving to first weekish of January. I so love the lights!
I love your Flosstube channel, Laura. I had to come and start watching from the beginning as I am all caught up on the most recent videos. Have a great day!
🙋♀️ I’m definitely the day after Thanksgiving until the first week of January decorator. 🎄 However, I’m traveling for Thanksgiving this year, so my house will be decorated before I leave. The earliest I’ve ever decorated for Christmas was a couple of years ago. My husband had died unexpectedly that spring, and I remember handing out the last of the candy on Halloween, then coming into the house to begin Christmas decorating. 😁 I am always excited to see when you post a new video. Your enthusiasm and joy in the craft are contagious. Thank you for the time and effort you put in to sharing with us. And I LOVE the music!
So enjoyed this video. Your quilts are beautiful. Your enthusiasm and knowledge shine through. Thank you for sharing, especially with us novices 😊
I lived in Kalama WA until a few months ago. Luckily Utah handles snow much much better than Oregon and Washington. SLC is a beautiful place.
Do you organize your books by color? January is the first month in a new year. It deserves a tree & twinkle lights
I was going to ask if you play the cello too. I love love LOVE the sound of cello music! To answer your question: I decorate for Christmas beginning on the first Sunday of Advent (the Sunday after Thanksgiving) and leave everything up through the 12 days of Christmas which end on Epiphany (January 6th). Ok, TECHNICALLY, they end on The 12th Night (January 5th), but I’m not going to start taking decorations down at midnight. LOL! I always enjoy watching your videos. You do such beautiful work. Thank you always for the inspiration! ❤
How beautiful are the first two quilts you showed us!!!! All the blocks and fabrics you showed this time were amazing but what stole my heart was your "Big Woods" project! It's so joyful and pretty and I just love it! Looking forward to your next Quilting Bee video can't wait to see your projects on all those beautiful quilts 😍🧵🪡✂
So many beautiful and cozy projects !!! Love them all 😍 I really like the ABCs you stitch for every season I am just not very fond of its' long shape! "Fall on the Farm" is one of my very favorites from your projects. I really enjoy seeing your progress on that one, it looks great! Looking forward to watching your next, Fall wrap up, update. I'd love to see your progress on all of your Fall projects 😍🍂🧵🪡
im not american so don't do thanks giving. i did halloween creapy stitching this year as it spoke to my dark soul. christmas stitching this year is the Christmas monsters by Lola crow. i did buy a mirabillia - christmas in london but have no intention of starting it in 2024
Did you post the link to the strawberries pattern?
I love your quilt videos. More please!!
Even though I’m not stitching this beautiful piece, I have loved watching and learning about all these amazing pollinators! Thank you for studying and sharing with us!! 😊
From someone who grew up in Salt Lake City but now have lived in Albuquerque for 40 years, I welcome your comments about your new home. It brings back so many wonderful memories. Love, love, love all your videos and your beautiful work, Laura. P.S. Temple Square is a must see at Christmas time!
The gingerbread house stitches up really quickly. It is smaller than it looks in the picture.
always lovely to spend some time with you. Gorgeous stitching as always!❤
In Denver we have a tradition where we keep up Christmas decorations through the end of the stock show which runs through the end of January. So, I put up my Christmas decorations in December and keep them up until the 3rd week in January.
I always enjoy your videos so much. We kind of have the same taste 😊 Love your new quote for the Lila‘s Studio pattern. I would love to change it too. You said, that you wanted to share it with us. That is so kind of you 🥰 Where can I find it? As I‘m from Germany our start for Christmas decorations is usually at the first of Advent, which is 4 weeks before Christmas. There are still a lot of people who put op their Christmas 🎄 only a few days ahead of Christmas eve, as we still have a lot of natural trees. Most people leave it up until New Year, but traditionally they stay until January 6 , Epiphany. Greetings from Germany 🙋🏻♀️
Yay, the Cryptids pattern! I have that one on my wall and am working on the sequel (it didn't get touched this year, I've got urgent priorities). And I'm a strict December Christmas person. I adore Advent calendars but I don't put a tree up until around the 10th. I love a tree but I can't live with it for long!
Beautiful and fun stitching!
Hi Laura - so besides your beautiful stitching and quilting, are you also a cellist (asked the flutist)?
I start Christmas right after I take down Halloween. My stopping point is Thanksgiving. So my rule is if I don’t get it all done by thanksgiving then I’m through decorating. I want that time to enjoy thanksgiving and get everything else ready to do and enjoy Christmas season. I don’t decorate outside of the house until after thanksgiving. So I guess that makes me a closet Christmas decorator. 😅Diana
It is always so calming and refreshing watching your Flosstube. I just adore you!! And if i lived closer, i would totally go to the store to check out the twinkling lights. This year especially. ❤❤❤
Loved your update! I think you are the absolute best for making your sweet girl a sweater- sounds like she’s going to need it this Winter!❄️
Thanks, Laura for a wonderful video. You sure do get so much stitching done! Love your chosen patterns. We host Thanksgiving but do get a couple displays in the hallway done ahead of time. We also put up the table tree in the living room because we have the family antique tree stand that everyone coming from afar loves to see again. Monday after Thanksgiving we take a week to complete the inside and outside. After the 12 days of Christmas, sadly, it all comes down. We have celebrated many, many, many, Christmases but each year is more exciting than the last. Enjoy everyone!
I used to start Christmas day after Thanksgiving, but now I pretty much started bringing stuff out right after Halloween. I also love all the twinkle lights and it just makes me cheerful and happy 😊
Hi there, love the fabrics you dyed. The stitched pieces you chose to put onto the fabrics was perfect. As for decorating we are kind of loosey goosey . I start taking fall Thanksgiving/fall on Black Friday. I don’t venture out into the mayhem of bargain shoppers. Kind of silly but my husband never got all the outdoor lights down and put away. So he’s going to put up the ones he did take down this week. I take down the trees no later than 15 January or whenever Martin Luther King day. Yes trees: 4 tabletop , 2 full size trees! Hope you have a lovely, relaxing Thanksgiving feast and visiting with your guests. Take care🪡🪡🍁🦃
My Christmas decorations go up the day after Thanksgiving. They usually come down a day or two after Christmas. After Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas I’m ready to get my house back to normal. 🎉
If you love owls take look at sleepy owl pumpkin patch by Lindsey stitches, it's so cute if you have not seen it yet
So nice to see you again! Someone commented that they're happy and relaxed as soon as the music comes on. I so agree. Love the giggles and laughs! Hope you continue to find joy!!!💜
I used to wait until after Thanksgiving to do Christmas. But…with Thanksgiving coming so late…we only get about 3.5 weeks before Christmas. I’m going to start early this year..I love Christmas too much! I do 5 trees. I leave it up until the Epiphany.
Hello Laura and thanks for everything 😀I can't believe we reached the end of it. I enjoyed enormously participating in that SAL. I was looking forward every month to the new part of the pattern we would stitch but also to learning about the new pollinators. Really a bit thank you for all the effort you put. It's been a lot of fun. I am always going to try my best to join your SALs. Enjoy your crafts and looking forward to seeing you again 😍🐻🐝🐞🐿🦋🦇🧵🪡
Wonderful stitch finish of the Halloween house. I put Christmas lights up the day after Thanksgiving. Thank you for sharing another wonderful calming video. Happy Stitching ❤.
Well hello my little ray of sunshine. I'm strictly a twelve days of Christmas girl but that's because in the Southern Hemisphere it's hard to keep a live tree going in the heat. Even though I now have a fake tree I still won't put it up until Christmas Eve as I now live in a very small apartment. My daughter has a Halloween tree that morphs into a Christmas tree and that makes her happy.
1st to the 1st 🎄🤶💖
I am the same, Christmas starts on the drive home from Thanksgiving at the inlaws, lol, and ends roughly first week of Jan.
I don't know what program you have for your computer ( I have Pattern Maker for Cross-stitch) instead of using your mouse will your program allow you to use the up/down & side - side arrows? Much easier than the mouse! Love your phrase for the acorn 🤩
Enjoyable video! I have a Christmas project going all year. It makes me happy in summer. Tree goes up the week before Thanksgiving. Decorations take a bit longer.
Hi. I am wondering if you no longer stitch in hand? If so, why not? 😊
Enjoyed seeing all your pretty stitching. I decorate for Christmas the 1st of December with my tree going up a week before Christmas.. We have a real tree. I undecorate around Jan. 6th.
I try to put the tree up the weekend after Thanksgiving weekend. I take the ornaments down early January but leave the tree up sometimes until mid February or early March just for the cozy lights during the dark days of winter. I feel guilty sometimes about it but my whole family begs me to leave it up so the winter is cozier. This year I’ll put the tree up before Thanksgiving so that when my daughter comes home from college we can decorate it together. I’ll probably take it down in early January this time though. I say do what makes you happy. I visited a teacher’s classroom yesterday and she and her students decorated it already and they are so happy!
Hi Laura Love all of your WIPS - Very Pretty - I just love watching your Videos. You stitch beautiful Patterns. May I ask what State you live in? It’s been very cold - windy - rainy where I live at - Northern Indiana. I was stitching on Strawberry Farm - FlossyFoxShop on Etsy. I love this Pattern. Take Care & Happy Stitching ❤️🤗🧵🪡🧵☕️❤️
Lovely stitching. Awesome work on the re-write. I do give the designers a ton of credit for what they do. We put our tree up the day after Thanksgiving and leave it up until the 12 days of Christmas are over. The outside lights start going up at the end of September. We have tens of thousands of lights and a large display that has to go up. The lights are programmed to some Christmas music that we have selected. That is my husbands hobby. It is lovely and the families come from all over to see the show. It is awesome to be able to bring a smile to so many faces.
Absolutely loved all of your stitching, very inspiring. You are so delightful to listen to and see your variety of designs. I relax so much listening you. Thank you
@barbaramueller8636 That sounds so lovely! We leave ours up through the 12 Days of Christmas too. ❤
