I did the Tula Pink book several years ago with blue fabrics all representing my son. This book was a healing journey for me. Plus it was a lot of fun doing all the blocks and naming them. My son took off, unannounced, at 21, and backpacked across the country-GA to CA. So each block became named for where he was, like which state, and "sleeping under the stars", "under a bridge" etc. When we heard from him, I would choose fabrics and a block from the book to sew.
When I bought the book I had no idea how much it was going to mean for me. My son did make it home and he also treasures that quilt. He even won't let the dog sleep on it!
Your beginnings are beautiful and you already sound like you are enjoying it. Take your time. It's the journey of collecting Tula fabric--isn't she great and creative? So are you!

Oh, I have met Yoko Saito, spoken with her, transilator helped. She signed two of my books, and now I have been inspired to find them and start some prodjects. It was in 2010 I was in a course by the Norwegian Quilting Society. I went to school in Aalborg Denmark, so many people was interested in what I did in Denmark. Even danish quilting sosiety came to speak with me. They were observing the big event. Thank you so much show and tell. Loved the animal quilt and the one with colouring and stiching. Sorry about wrong spelling and sentenses. Im not using English very often theese days.

This video was AWESOME! You are such a talented young woman Laura. I absolutely adored the farm animal quilt and could “literally” your excitement for it! Just gorgeous! Wow! Plus, I was completely wowed by all of your other pieces. I am not a quilter, yet, but, if I keep tuning in to your Quilting Bee Flosstubes, that won’t last long. I have a huge fabric stash from years of sewing apparel so I would only need to coordinate colors, styles and purchase backing batting and larger coordinating fabrics. Oh my. . . Jacque 🐑

    Yay! Quilting Bee!
I had a giant quilt I needed to baste and no room at home. I happened to be going to a hotel alone so brought the quilt and my pins and the basting spray. Moved all the furniture in the hotel around and basted it there. Oh boy. The FUMES from the spray. Thought I might die in my sleep. 🤣 But it was a giant quilt full of sentimental hand embroidered (not by me) 5" squares, I wanted to baste and pin the hell out of it because I didn't want it to shift when I machine quilted it. I wont spray baste a giant quilt indoors ever again, lol. But the quilt came out great.
    Your finishes are beautiful!

Such beautiful projects. I did the Tula quilt as part of the 100 days 100 blocks challenge back in 2017. I made all kinds of crazy rules for myself including 100%tula fabrics, no solids and sticking to the same number of fabrics as the block in the book. My sewing machine blew up the day after i finished piecing them and I have never gone back and pieced it together. Maybe I should challenge myself to finish it while you stitch yours. I just went back and looked at my blocks on IG. It is funny and sometimes a little sad to re-read what I was thinking at the time. I did name some of my blocks. 'The octopus tank needs cleaning' was my favourite and once you see block 60 as a hotel bedside lamp, you'll never unsee it. 😂 Looking forward to seeing yours grow. Your finished scrap quilt is so beautiful too. So many fun prints. ❤

Hello Laura, I really enjoyed this video! Your finished projects look gorgeous, all of them!!! The Fab Farm looks so amazing and the Gardener's alphabet one, along with the Enchanted Garden, so so beautiful, they stole my heart! I admire quilters creations and I've been flirting with the idea of trying it myself for a while now and watching your quilting bee videos has made me really eager. Maybe you should start on line quilting lessons for beginners? I know you say you are not a professional quilter, but you are very good one, and it looks to me that you have a lot of experience plus very good taste in combining colours, at least I like your choices a lot, (I am in love with some of your projects bags, especially the one you have the "in the library" project in), I mean the way you combine fabrics is just great. Think about it 😊 Have a very very good time and looking forward to watching your next video 🥰🧵🪡

Thoroughly enjoyed the video. We have a lot of the same tastes in sewing projects. I have made Yoko Saito's quilt blocks for her "Mystery Quilt", but still need to make them into a quilt. I love her work. I have some embroidery and some needle-turned applique blocks made too that I need to make into wall quilts. I love having several types of projects going. It provides some fun choices of "what do I want to work on today" moments when walking into my sewing/quilting room. I love it. You seem to love it as well. Happy stitching and I look forward to your next sewing video.

I was recently invited to join a weekly sewing group that meets at a local park. I have been twice and love it! Even though I am old, they call me the baby of the group since I am the youngest. lol. My dilemma is getting my trolley cart in and out of the car; I have autoimmune and have lost down from 125 lbs to 110 lbs recently, so my muscle mass has been quite diminished. I mentioned to my husband that a sewing machine bag might be a little easier for me. Thursday we went to a fabric store and he found the wall of By Annie patterns. Of course I bought one with his encouragement. It brought me so much joy pulling fabrics from my stash to make it! I keep my pre-kitted projects in plastic art bin containers; it was so fun going through them and petting the beautiful fabrics! I can tell from your video that you share the same fabric fetish. lol. Stitch on, sister!

Doggone it Laura! I thought this was going to be a cross stitch video., Now you've inspired me to the point that I may have to pull out some of my long abandoned quiting projects. Glad to have discovered your Quilting Bee series.

I'm so glad to see you back with another quilting video! I've got so much to comment on in all your videos I'm just going to have to type as I go along! Your Fab Farm looks so good! I just love it. That black sheep is the cutest. I have that Tula book and I have been tempted to start the blocks with the Tula fabric I hoard but cutting into the fabric gives me the anxiety. It's just too pretty to cut. Your gorgeous rainbow color palate is tempting me to dive in. I love a happy rainbow. And Tula prints were just made for fussy cutting. It's the best! I'm working on a EPP quilt with fussy cut Tula and grunge fabric. Your Enchanted Garden quilt is going to be incredible. That pattern is stunning. It looks like a very long term project! Needleturn applique is something I've always wanted to try but it's a little bit intimidating to me. I've never seen the Bird Pond quilt pattern before but it is so fun! I think I'm going to have to find a copy. Your bin of Art Gallery fabrics are absolutely gorgeous! I feel the same way about colors- I normally gravitate to a bright rainbow of color but those muted colors are so pleasing to the eye. I can't wait to see your finished quilt! Thanks for all the quilty joy and enabling!

love your episodes. The last fabric you showed, the warm art gallery fabrics are so pretty. Melanie Traynor at Meander and Make puts out lots of lines in those colors (usually) and her fabrics are spectacular. I made the Inner Beauty quilt with the Grand Place line and the Fernweh quilt with another line and both of them are beautiful. I tend to go for the bright colors, but her fabric is gorgeous. I think you and I could be twins…except I’m a bit older. 🤭Lol. I have the Fab Farm book to make for my new & first grand baby (girl) but was only planning on making the baby size. I have been a quilter since 2001, which eventually lead into me getting a long arm and starting a long arm business. I also worked at my local quilt shop for 13 years but never brought home a paycheck🤷🏼‍♀️ lol… I only ventured back into handwork in November 2020 after a very unexpected seven hour surgery that had a long recovery period which meant I could no longer work at the quilt shop or do my client longarm quilting. So I picked cross stitching back up. I did it as a teenager, then stopped when I had my son who is now 30 and now I am slightly obsessed with Cross-stitch. I did also teach myself how to crochet ( but only granny squares), so I have a ton of UFOs and wips that I am slowly getting done. I also have always done done redwork/hand embroidery as well as wool appliqué… We do have lots of similar tastes in patterns and fabrics.
