I know it was said to be a hot take, but i like Richard's take on Quigon vs Smoker. While its not a direct one to one, i can definitely see the parrallels. SPOILER SPOILER . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I have a really strong feeling that there will be a time when Smoker's sense of justice will be a point of contention with a specific fleet admiral.

Finally, we've reached the Jaya and Skypiea arc! This arc is my favorite story throughout the entire run of One Piece. As Noah mentioned in the Alabasta episode, the Alabasta arc was about "duty and sacrifice". Every One Piece arc has one main theme it explores. The "theme" presented in Skypiea is one of the reason why this arc is my favorite! I hope you two can delve deep into this theme in the next video!

Well I'm technically also a Gen-X (born the last year of Gen-X) I love this series, and I see it becoming an all time classic, that will be loved for many years to come. My advise to starting One Piece, is don't think about how many chapters/episodes it has, and don't think about getting caught up. Just sit down, enjoy it for what it is, and enjoy the adventure. It´s a world that starts off small, and as the story moves along the world opens up and kinda feel alive, because of the wonderful world building. Personally I watch it with Japanese voices and subtitles, as I feel they show better emotions with their voices.

The theoretical way Plasma weapons function is by first creating a volume of superheated plasma and then launching a group of heat resistant projectiles through said plasma thereby createing a burst of flying molten slag, and since projectiles are not limitless the internal arm cannon's action assembly would have an auto loader system which in turn would have a shot limit or "clip" for short.

There's some good discussion in this one. My understanding of the situation with Skypiea is people who read the manga tends to like Skypiea from the get go (me included), it's the anime people that tend to don't like it because of the animation and pacing quality drop. There's also a group that insisted it was like a filler when it's just never was.

Pacific rim is not for me, Kaiju stuff doesn't do it for me. Shoehorned romance, boring motivations. I find fun movies fun. The Cable Guy is fun. I just don't find this movie any fun. But glad Noah enjoys, but I'm with Richard on this one. This movie is corporate nonsense. It is an example of high budget, low substance that has led to almost only blockbusters being made. This movie is upsetting to me culturally. For what it has done to the landscape of cinema.

I love it, because it's dumb, because it's fun, and because it's cringey, and because it's also immensely well made in terms of the effects, those robots look and feel real, heavy and badass. It's also the only time I remember going to the movies with my grandpa, who passed away last year at the start of the summer. I totally get the criticisms and the sheer dumbassery on diplay in this movie, but for me, it's a 10/10. I'm a bit disappointed Richard didn't really like it, but I totally get it. @@PorkChopsRiceandPeaches I can understand that. i am not a Huge mech fan usually. Big O is more a Noir style story centered around a mystery. Complete with the old school Voice overs like the old Detective Movies. Some HEAVY Cowboy beebop style on the characters personalities and scenes though. So its Different. Gundam Wing is...... A 49 Episode anime that really has great action. (specially for its age.) But a lot of macro scaled concepts on Geo political concepts and even war its self. While a lot of the different Gundam series focus on the impacts of War on more personal levels Wing really also looks at the Macro. Plus Giant robots fighting is awesome. And the Designs for Big O and Gundam WIng Mechs are about as far apart from each other as King Kong and Godzilla Designs.

Eiichiro Oda is excellent at keeping you in the dark. There are tremendous mysteries at play in this world, some of which have been being built up for as long as decades. He gives you only what you need to continue to follow the adventures of the crew. The manga, where it currently is, is full of crazy revelations that totally recontextualise so much of what you know about the world. The way all the pieces are falling into place before the endgame soon to come is truly a thing of beauty; it's hard to believe all these threads have been faithfully followed all this time, but he's making good on foreshadowing we at the time had no clue was foreshadowing. I'm studying to teach English, and predicting the ends of movies is the curse of the media literacy that demands, but One Piece is keeping it fresh 1,138 chapters and 25 years in. This world truly feels a life's work.

I strongly disagree about Nefertari Kobra being weaker as a character for not being a kingly king, sure it makes it weak as a king, but as a character it reaffirms his character as a father first human second and king last, without any spoilers, Nefertari is not a royal family with a idiology centered in power, Kobra may known where pluto is or at least the Nefertari of old knew and they didn't act in accordance to seize power, also his moto of the country is his people and the consistency with Kobra being first a fool/father since Vivi was a child he was conducting himself more as a man than a king, I believe that if crocodile ever had been better for arabasta or the world he might have abdicate the throne, so Kobra in a situation between humanity and nobility and power he is going to choose being human or humanitarian, and now in other things I would like to know your toughs in zoro fight, and recommend that in the coming arc you pay attention to the way zoro is gonna fight, cause until now zoro has one weakness and he is gonna try to overcome that weakness, Pell is truly infamous but also a weird way of telling about how durable and high in vitality are the zoan tipes(but it is more of a cope than a good explanation) I think that ussop is stronger than he believes sure he is not a heavy hitter in the crew but he is not entirely normal he also does not know sickness and he wistand lots of punishment, maybe some of the xray shots during his fight with the mole are only for comedic purposes but he still takes a lot of punishment and keeps getting up, about the miseries in one piece don't worry every mistery gets resolved little by little, unfortunately for every answer there are 2 or more questions

I know that you are not really interested in watching the anime but it is really worth watching. If you are the episode to watch are 196-206.

About the King scene i think it might be similar to how Vivi bowing down in Drum Island, maybe its something like a King is King because of his people and King will bow down for his people, cuz the way i see it, Cobra never wanted himself saved or his sovereignty but his people, and Luffy saved them. But anyhow i wasnt also a fan of the scene, now it doesnt bother me.

@@zarakkhan9490 I am certain that this is a cultural difference, but I did not like the entire bath scene. It is a minor thing, but I am fielding a lot of disagreement on the kingly bow. Oh, well. 😄 - Dad

I don't think the king bowing necessarily diminishes his character. A similar example is from "Lord of the Rings - Return of the King". The end scene "you bow to no one" was very heart felt I'm my opinion.

Ooooh! Dad is correct. It is a belief in China and Japan (and maybe Korea, but I'm not sure) that saving a life creates a responsibility to that life and for the outcomesof that life. If you save a person from drowning but leave them to starve, it's the same as killing them yourself. If you save a person and they commit a crime, it's the same as doing it yourself. There's a bunch of manga plot points that don't really make sense without that context (particularly Naoki Urosawa's Monster.) Robin's joining the crew is definitely one of them.

Dont forget the movies. You should probably start with "Strong World" and go from there when the time comes. I think The movies starting with "Strong World" and onward really deepen everything on another level. Hina is kinda important there too. Shes loyal and plays a big part and shes extremely cool in my opinion. With their introduction we get the first sense that there are multiple generations in the Navy. And their age, their rank and their joining (and therefore their respective experience) later allows them to be assigned to a respective era that has had a significant influence on them. It is the cornerstone for presenting different conceptions of justice.
