Very sweet of you to do that for him.
Nice truck, I have a ‘96 F150 centurion crew cab 4x4, short bd. Yours would b3 my second pick👍👍
@@shanechostetler9997 that is awesome! And yours would be my first pick haha
Learned to drive in my Dad's Two tone tan 96 ext cab, It was a 2WD with a 8 foot bed, Had a Transmission line leak (entire sections were rusted away and had to be repaired with rubber brake hose by yours truly) Radio worked only real complaint Dad had was it wasn't a stick like his 82 Ranger.
I got a 1995 7.3L F250. It's a nice truck.
@@raymond_sycamore they are awesome. I’m looking for a 7.3 to buy right now
I'm jealous!!!😊
Add a 92 F250 XLT Lariat towing package blue white panel best truck I've ever owned Hurricane Irene got it up in Jersey flooded above the dash
Take it to a shop and just have them diagnose the problem first
I’ve owned 19 of these trucks, Mostly diesel but here’s what I’ve seen when this happens with the gassers. Sometimes it’s fuel pumps, but I’ve hardly ever lost a fuel pump in them. When I have , dropping the tanks seems to be the better route than pulling the bed, but either ways acceptable. But for the love of god, anyone that tells you to cut an ole in the bed to access the pump should be immediately deleted from your life, or RUclips feed. That’s 100% the easiest way to clap out that truck….anyways. What I have seen more commonly are the rubber lines on the fuel pump rot or get pin holes in them which cause pressure to bleed of in the tanks. If you’re in a place that runs a lot of ethanol fuel this will accelerate the process. I’ve seen the selector valve become faulty and one tank will fill the other. Usually this won’t cause the issue you have but it’s not impossible. I’ve seen corroded electrical connectors on the top of the pump get hot and open up so you don’t have sufficient voltage to run the pump. I’ve seen inertia switches become intermittent and cause electrical disruptions. Relays that will stick open or closed, leaks plugged filters too. That truck also has a fuel pressure regulator on it which could be faulty as well. Outside of the fuel system, you’ve got a MAF sensor that can cause you some issues, the TPS sensor (seems to be more faulty than fuel pumps to me), vacuum leaks too. Finally, and this isn’t your problem but it will be eventually if you keep that truck are the ignition modules. I always keep a spare in my glove box (and the tiny wrench to change them). Because those are definitely not a question of if but when it will fail. Hopefully you’ve got it fixed
Nice! I would prefer this over a brand new truck.
Nice of you to clean it up!
I had the same truck! My dad bought it brand new in 1996 ,with the 351 v8 .. it had 12,000 miles on it, and when I got it from him in 2022 the truck had 270,000 miles on it ❤!! All original with no modification whatsoever!! He would drive it to our properties in Montana about 50 outside of Missoula and hed drive it to Klamath falls Oregon about 4 times a year to make sure our properties were in good shape and not overgrown with stuff! The truck is in my shop now. Been there since early 23.. it has no dents ,no fading, inside and out the truck looks quite new still,
The truck looks amazing! Could you give us a price range of what these trucks are going for similar to yours?
@@dreamingcode thank you! I found what I thought was a great deal on this truck at 5,300. I was the first one to message him. I have offers of 12,000 if that says anything.
@KyleReese26 yes I believe you got an awesome deal! I'm on Facebook marketplace now, seeing if I could score one as well a very beautiful truck brother.
@ it’s a buyers market right now for sure, just gotta be quick, good luck!!
That throttle position sensor won’t last but a couple months more than likely. I never buy anything except for Motorcraft
Mines at 95 Burgundy four-wheel-drive single cab 5.0 manual transmission. I love my truck. I’ve replaced just about everything you could replace on it. If you haven’t yet, you should replace your steering box with a redhead steering box. That’ll take care of your steering wheel play.
@@operator8470 the steering is pretty good in this truck, if it goes bad I’ll look at the redheads I know they make good stuff !
Have you considered going to a wrecking yard, and looking for another truck like yours, and pulling the fuel pumps out? I guarantee it will be a lot cheaper, and it will be or should be O.E.M. Parts. Instead of paying over $ 900.00… just for parts
@@jamesaustin7147 it was a thought, i did fix it in the new video and it didn’t end up being fuel pump.
So nice🔥
Just replaced my back tank and it ran for a day and now sitting. Just replaced the distributor, ICM and the ignition coil. So I feel your pain! I didn’t have that sputtering you did after my new tank and pump install. I appreciate the video though as it’s hard to find people that know what they’re doing with these old trucks..
@@SK-xr1gs thanks for the comment! Yeah in my most recent video I finally fixed it.
That is my favorite truck. I hope to own one in the next few years. I don’t think any truck compares.
@@Alan-m6x6v it’s awesome, the only other truck that stacks up to it is the 96-98 Chevy/gmc 1500s. But I really like the front end a whole lot better on the ford. Once the IFS wears out they ride bad, have loose steering and then cost a bunch to replace all the parts.
Check some basic things here. The cranking RPM sounded a bit low in the video but that could have just been the way it sounds on camera. You want to make sure that all battery cables, positive and negative cables, are in good condition. You want all the amperage from both batteries powering the starter. I have been bitten on this. The cables can look perfectly fine on the outside but when you peel back the insulation, the copper strands have turned into a mess of green corrosion. I chased a no start issue on a 99 Tahoe for hours until I found that one of the ground cables had turned to green powder on the inside. Looked great on the outside. Bad grounds can cause all kinds of headaches. A badly corroded cable might still pass an ohmmeter check, but won't be in good enough condition to carry any current. This has to be a physical inspection.
Fuel pressure regulator maybe?
@@thejohnboatfaithfishingand8078 problem was solved in my recent video, tried the FPR but that didn’t fix it
@@KyleReese26 I do recall many years ago when I was a GSE mechanic at Delta and went through Ford EEC V (before OBDII) training for our ground vehicles, the instructor told us, "When all else fails, replace the throttle position sensor." Glad it got resolved!

FYI, not having a good solid 12v out of your batteries is gonna fry your FICM.. The number 1 cause of killing a FICM is having low voltage, one of your batteries dead, will make the ficm(fuel injection control module) overheat as its struggling to up the voltage enough to fire the 8 injectors.. They aint cheap and I burned up a couple duramax and 6.0powerstroke ficm's..
Noted, thanks for the tip.
All the issues with the wheel and the shaft/bearing is due to you being short, having a lifted truck with no steps, using your steering wheel to pull yourself into the truck like its a handicap handrail.. lol.. Just bustin your balls, love the truck.. but quit tugging on the wheel to get in..
Nah honestly I didn’t even need to replace the dang bearing in the first place, I was just being dumb a few years ago thinking it would help steering but then when re-installing a new one it messed up. Lessons learned
That's a beautiful truck Kyle. I have a mint 1996 f150 with the 4.9 / 5 speed. I've put $12,000. into mine. I love these trucks. I'm replacing the ECM ( the main computer) next just incase. Nice job. Gotta keep these obs trucks on the road.
@@deuceandguns thanks! Definitely do
The front tank is not that hard to drop. I had to take mine out twice troubleshooting a bad float that had a pinhole in it. None of my fuel line disconnect tools worked so I bought a Lisle 39900 set and it had one that worked. That problem cost me a couple of days as I bought and borrowed disconnect tools that would not work before I got the Lisle set.
Yeah I’m not sure how your lisle set compared to the one I got but having the right tool got it off super quick
Keeping it? Or is it for sale?
Glad you got it running again!
@@cookingwithsanjay thanks! Now that this is taken care of I can start with some more content 😎
Excellent job. When I brought my 94 351 home and gave it a tune up that thing shook the engine bay. Thought it was the idle air controller, but after finally pulling the code it seemed the culprit was that TPS. I'll keep following since I'm also learning how to work on trucks with this one.
@@notnymph9631 yeah it took me a while to figure out what this was too, it can be difficult to find. I’ll definitely be posting more !!
Wooohoooo! Glad you got it fixed.
@@RockyRaccoon3281 me too! Now I can actually get on to better things with the truck. Not sure what’s next!
I have a 1996 F150 XL, with the 4.9 5 speed, 2 wheel drive long bed. I've invested $12,000. into it, keeping it original. Mine is also in mint condition. I'd rather invest in these old Fords than pay 80 to 110K for a truck that will only last 5-7 years. I'll get another 27 years out of this truck. I'm a master mechanic, including airplanes. Try replacing your "TPS" or your fuel regulator. You may also want to replace the fuel filter along the drivers side frame under the truck. It's under the driver side. Good luck. Nice truck.
@@BruceHarris-r7r that’s awesome. Mine definitely is not mint thought, I bet the 5 speed combo with the 4.9 is great. I’m glad you mentioned the TPS, you’ll be interested to seeing the video I’m about to post!
Check driver door latch.. Just done this on my 07 3500 Took latch apart cleaned and greased ... radio goes off and battery stays up.. so far.
@@KHuffy-hm7bw I thought I had fixed it. It’s been dying overnight every single day now. I’m gonna check the latch. But the reason why I’m not sure it would be that is because the interior lights don’t come on ever, it’s just the radio SOMETIMES. The last few days I’ll turn the truck off and it appears everything is turned off then the next morning it’s nearly totally dead.
Cute little issues you got there, boss.

@@jasonmeredith1580 i actually replaced that, I mentioned it in the video after this one. Unfortunately didn’t fix it but I am about to post a video in a couple days on what I THINK may have the issue solved.
Very beautiful 96 F150 brother, I have a 1996 Ford F150 with a 5.0L (302) Windsor V8 with 211,000 miles on it and still going strong, the only things I replaced on my truck was the starter, the rear fuel pump, and the power steering megunisum but other than that mostly was just simple maintenance, took out the transmission fluid just to get rid of the shuttering it was making and it hasn't had a problem ever since.
Thank you! That sounds promising to me! Hopefully mines the same way, I just posted a new video on the truck. I can actually enjoy driving mine now

Hey Kyle, I have had good luck with precision fuel pumps in my 97 F250 with a 460 - replaced about 5 years ago and still good yet, starts drives and runs great today. Before i replaced the pumps, I had the same problem with the busted check valve in the rear tank causing it to fill and overflow from the front (and also drain off after sitting several hours making harder to start at first), the pump was still itself good but better to just replace, it happened once where the rear tank got too full from the cross flow and the engine started cutting out. I really like your F150, that's a great truck bro.
@@michaelethangross3395 awesome. That’s good to hear, based off what I read the precision is good pump. So far the cross feeding is fixed. I’ve been recording another video this weekend on doing something else to try and fix it, hopefully it works. Thanks for the comment! Stay tuned for more vids!!
Pull the pumps and make sure they have the check valves most of the cheap ones dont , stick walbro pumps in the pump housings it the valves hold pressure there about $100 each and will last years

Man i am fighting a issue like this with my 96 obs bronco as soon as it gets up to temp it loses all fuel pressure
@@TheJesusno2 does it die? I would take a look at the coolant temp sensor and IAC. If you unplug the IAC, the truck should run at a very low RPM, but if it dies then there’s a possibility it’s that. Easy and cheap enough part to test out.
