This show is so good. Tam Selleck was just amazing. I'm in the 7th season now and the show gets better with time. The opening of the 6th season is great, and the 7th season is basically a movie in LA. It's amazing the way they keep building up the show.

What I'm really scared about is that 1982 Dodge Volare station wagon....It's a little disconcerting.

Poor Magnum! He’s ALWAYS in financial debt to Rick and TC, and he’s always borrowing facilities or equipment from Higgins/Robin Masters, which then often ends up getting damaged or lost… Not to mention that he hardly EVER gets paid for his work, and on the rare occasion he does, it all gets eaten up by some ridiculous expenses that for one reason or another, he simply can’t charge his client for! Magnum NEVER seems to get a break or come out ahead on his cases! 😂

4:40 - You can clearly tell that they were struggling to time the gate closing with the car racing through, and they must have been doing it manually-the gate seems to pause momentarily as the car passes through, then noticeably speeds up after the car is gone! 4:59 - This shot of the Ferrari taking off is also in the opening credits for all 8 seasons, showing the “56E 478” license plate, before they got the “ROBIN 1” custom plate made.

Magnum definitely had flaws, which we all came to love... Like the way he was CONSTANTLY making amateur mistakes as he talked about writing his book on how to be a world class private investigator! Or the way he ALWAYS seemed to be in debt to Rick for things like his bar tab, and to T.C. for all the gas and bullet holes in his helicopter, or the way he was ALWAYS haggling with Higgins to borrow Robin's equipment and facilities, which he then often damaged or lost... And much like Rockford, Magnum almost NEVER gets paid for his work, or if he does, he never really comes out ahead after all the mishaps and disasters he has along the way. In short: Even though he hardly ever pays anyone back, his friends still always help him, because Magnum is such a straight arrow guy who always HAS their back! And one has to admit, there's something really appealing about the idea of a pauper like Magnum who still manages to live the high life and cannot be bought off or intimidated by those who are truly rich and powerful. Despite being poor, he always makes full use of what he has to fight for The Little Guy.

I dont get it. At the end, How did Magnum get thru the secure screening area to make the switch before anyone else if there were only 2 screening booths and TC and Rick were at #1 and #2 booth?

Such a great pilot episode. It sets the tone for the whole series. It has the right balance of funny moments but a heaviness to the mystery Magnum is solving. I loved the serious episodes vs the ones played mostly for comedy. Such a twist that the man he's hunting, who killed Dan Cook, was a member of the team. To me the only thing out of step is that Rick and TC are not also more upset about Dan being killed and his sister is not also comforted by them. In one scene she finds a photo of the team and comments that they are all so young but of course she knew Thomas longest since she was a girl in school.

Two guys carrying pistols in an airport with little security and being able to carry them IN PLANES? Ohhhhh the 80s
