    For the life of me, I do not understand why black women care so passionately about how other black women wear their hair. If I like my hair straight why does it have to mean I don’t like my natural hair. If I choose to wear braids with extensions why is that a bad thing! Whether my hair is natural, relaxed, colored short, long, braided , silk pressed or waved up it’s still growing out of my scalp out of my head. Relax, leave other women alone about their own hair.

    I am a fan of all three of the women in this video. And you’re right, it would be hard for someone who is attached to them to get through the video 😂 I myself haven’t finished it quite yet. But you are telling the truth! I will eventually finish the video. Thank you for making great content ❤ Edit: Wow. I finished it and you said so many good things. You might have just changed my brain chemistry, girlie! Having been natural on and off for probably 10 years now, I am now seeing that this self hatred that’s so prevalent among black women ISN’T normal. And you’re right. Women of other races do not typically get on the internet to validate that something about them is genetically inferior.

    I recently did a big chop after getting a straightening treatment that destroyed my hair. My biggest regret is not taking care of and embracing my natural hair texture, which is type 4. It’s not that it’s “hard” to deal with, but it takes more love and patience. I refuse to watch any negative rhetoric when it comes to type 4 natural hair. It’s literally so gorgeous and unique.

    I started loving my hair when I gave up trying to get every curl defined and no shrinkage with constant wash n gos. I was trying to make my hair touch the floor when it really wants to reach for the sky 😊. And now wash “day” literally takes 2ish hours!

    Absolutely! I love my natural hair so much, I would neverrrr go back to relaxing. So what it takes me 3 hours on a wash day, it's a blessing to spend that time pampering myself and getting to know my hair. I also hate those self-deprecating make up videos by black women (you know the thumbnails) they get millions of views and it's embarrassing.

  • @coffeebean4356
    @coffeebean4356 2 дня назад

    Yes you can struggle with your hair, but truly if you did methods that were effective for your hair then it wouldn’t be difficult. No wash day should be 2+ hours. Yes, thickness and length plays a role… but you doing all these masks, pre-poos, multi- step conditioners no wonder you’re exhausted. It’s unnecessary. You don’t have patience so you’d rather rip through your hair like it’s straight, or relax it. That’s where people loose me as well. They may relax their hair, or relay on wigs- but prep the wigs better than their natural hair, or have a high maintenance routine for their relaxed hair….

    The natural hair movement was for women who never liked their hair and that is not going to change, that is why i never realy took part in it as a person with 4c hair, that never had an issue with my hair. I watched the videos, but i never took it as a guide to my hair. It was just entertaining to me, and it should be taken that way.

    I completely agree. I have no bad feelings towards the girl but RUclips kept recommending me star puppy so I finally watched a few of her videos and didn’t like how she acted towards her hair either. There’s a big natural hair creator named Jess (can’t remember exact channel name) who I also feel was negative. I like Viviana Hair Therapy because she always believes she can do any style while protecting her ends and keeps her hair healthy. She doesn’t see texture and her out look on her hair is always positive even when she does hair challenges.

    Love this! I'm 40 and went natural when I was 23. At that time, the info on haircare was only on RUclips. I was so excited about all that I was learning and tried to share it with so many people and loving my 4c texture. But, I was met with so much negativity. I realized then, that the only thing that mattered was how I perceived myself. Fast forward to today, My hair is long, full, healthy and quite honestly gorgeous.😅 But the reason why I get compliments on it, is because I walk with pride. Sure, there are ppl out there who will never get it and live in texturism. That's their problem. Ladies, we got this. We are so beautiful. The most unique hair on the planet, should not be held in bondage under wigs and self doubt😍 ✨️

    This was an interesting one! The women today that I see, that are still for damaging their own hair and scalp cause they don’t like their texture won’t understand this level of thinking, in my opinion. But there’s always hope. 😅 And you’re right, confidence has a spring and a bounce to it, or even a just “a matter of fact” kind of vibe. 😊💖 When I big chopped, I didn’t think in terms of privilege, I just made it fun learning how to manage my hair, taking the good days with the bad. And I made sure my makeup was nice! 😂💕💙 So when I had a hair setback 8 years later and had to chop off a significant amount of hair, I knew just what to do.

    Black women need to become comfortable with their FACIAL features. I think black women try to mitigate their ethnicity by constantly manipulating their hair in an effort to make themselves look less ETHNIC. 4C hair = ETHNIC If you accept your ethnic facial features accepting your hair is pretty easy. Ergo, black women who benefit from PRETTY PRIVILEGE find it easiest to embrace their natural hair. Other forms of “privilege” do not work was well, in this regard. I have had 1 inch natural hair to the long natural hair I have now and I rarely think about my hair. I was actually shocked to learn black women dislike their hair. It’s just another feature on my body. 🤷🏽‍♀️

    I don’t know, i feel like the experience is so different when you have fine hair which is why i understand starpuppy. Fine hair which is curly/coily can sometimes be such an oxymoron to itself, I get so many knots and breakage over any minor inconvenience. My hair is so fine even finger detangling is too much, the texture isn’t the problem it’s my strands. Before anyone says anything I treat my hair like a queen and my current regiment is the best for my hair, nothing can improve my strands. When I straighten my hair it gives me relief that I don’t have to worry about my hair breaking from tangles, it’s not because I prefer straight hair(I personally think I look better with my natural hair) it just makes me think about my hair less and I didn’t have to worry about losing half my hair at the end of the week detangling because I decided to not give it as much thought that week. There definitely are influencers who just hate their hair because it’s 4C don’t get me wrong but star puppy loves her hair, she just struggles with it being fine

    • @thisiscoilette
      @thisiscoilette 12 дней назад

      I disagree. Primarily because I have very fine strands also. You seem to have found what works for you and stuck to it. Starpuppy knows what works for her (according to what she's said on her channel) and she still seems discontent in my opinion.

    I took the liberty to unsubscribe from a lot of those creators who promote self-deprecation, self-hate, etc. Best decision. I've never had self-hatred for my 4C hair, I was frustrated at times and had bad hair days, lol, but that's with EVERY hair texture experience! All my friends of different races go through that, too! It's just different hair journeys and stories. It's pathetic and problematic that the black community keeps perpetuating negative ideals onto their children and those around them, so much so that other communities are taking them as factual. My 4C hair is beautiful because I say it is, and I take care of it that way. Therefore, I walk with pride, If you think your hair is ugly, why would you put in the effort to care for it as it is? It's that simple.
