Just translating that many volumes alone is going to take a lot of time and money, and printing and distributing them will cost even more, so much so that if Kingdom gets an official English release, it'll probably be digital simply so they don't need to print and distribute that many physical copies

Did some digging for the official source. Turns out this is misinformation. This is a promotional campaign involving NTT DOCOMO, Netflix, and Shueisha. According to a press release the klCampaign will run from September 17 to November 30, 2024.

Imagine Weekly Shonen Jump costs 100 American dollars to even read one chapter of a manga 😂

Well….. this is news I did not expect to see today. It can be good, in the sense that it COULD introduce many more people to manga. But…. A Netflix subscription is far more expensive than a subscription to something like Shonen Jump or VIZ… This would be good for people who ALREADY have a Netflix subscription, but for people who do not have Netflix yet and want to read some series that Netflix licenses… it would be quite a steep monthly price for that (comparing it to other manga services). But, who knows - maybe they could make a manga-specific tier on Netflix (probably not, since companies are greedy, but… who knows 🤷🏻‍♂️). I am interested to see what this announcement is, though. Now the waiting game begins :)

I think seeing manga on a large screen television could be a good way to experience the artwork. Also, I could see the manga feature being available only on the mobile app.

Not gonna lie, reading on the tv doesn't sound like a bad idea to me xD. At least like, if you take paper books out of the equation caus that'll always be the best, I could see it being equally or maybe even more comfortable than reading on your phone or tablet. It just needs to not be a laggy mess like their games but just showing pictures should be way simpler than running games. Just don't go reading your ecchi series in front of your families y'all 😂

I like the idea of bundling it to get anime-only fans into reading manga, but if this means the standalone service for reading goes away, then it would only push more manga readers to sail the seas to get their fix

The reason I love manga is that it offers me a unique escape. Reflecting on my personal traits, I’ve come to understand that I’ve grown naturally harsh due to my mental state and environmental factors. I’ve also realized that I tend to be quite closed-minded about many things. However, when I immerse myself in manga, especially shounen series like Dragon Ball, it transports me back to a simpler time. For that brief moment, everything feels okay. I can breathe, relax, and truly enjoy the experience.

It’s super cool. I just got mine two days ago and I love it. Nice to have the original manga in Deluxe Edition form and I can’t wait for the rest. I’ve got tons of mangas already, so adding this to the collection is really exciting, especially since I’ve been a fan of the original 90’s anime for a few years now and the movie that came along with it.

I've always been the one who says why would I buy a manga if I can just find it online but after opening a single physical copy it all changed. Saving your own money and buying a story you like , seeing the good cover art in your room displayed, taking care of your books and rearranging from time to time. It's good but yeah it needs investment and space
