Hello there, it's March 2024 and I just got my 2004 Vulcan 1500 out of the shop. It's the biggest bike I've ever owned and it feels like it runs on rails. It's SO easy to ride, nimble, powerful, and has the comfort of a Cadillac.

I'll be investing in one of these for sure I reckon.

Hey brother, I'm going to take a trip from Avon Colorado to McAllen Texas on April 20, 2024. God willing. The bike is a 2006 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 with 18k miles in good condition. What do you recommend me? What advice? It's my first long trip. It is approximately 1300 miles of travel on state highway

I like your bike it's awesome it's very nice looking it's like a big Harley or something only nice lines my question is you said it's a 1500 but yet it's big and slow and bulky and not fast then why not just go with the 800 then?

The faster you go on dirt, the more it feels like riding on ice. Riding your bike on ice or dirt roads will help you learn to ride on slippery surfaces. It is not for everybody, and I enjoy it, but would not want to wipe out on a large cruiser. Take care BigRob, ride safe. Edit: See what happens when you let RUclips play without supervision? Nice Bike. I had a Vulcan 900 for a short time. I also ride in the cold and the coldest temp I could stand with 'winter' gloves on was 10 F. I had to stop after a few miles and warm up my hands using the exhaust pipe.

Have you tried using the Ignition Controlled Mode, which would turn on when the ignition switch is on? I believe that requires wiring to a switched wire, but I haven't found a video that shows that.

I rode the MT09 on the dirt a couple of times, and the big thing I did wrong was going slow. Yes, you have less traction, but it's not to the extent it might feel. You're better off moving a little quicker so that your suspension isn't travelling the total distance of those bumps. Any bike on an unsealed surface constantly moves underneath you on the dirt, which takes some getting used to. Your bike just isn't set up for that surface, so it's going to feel wrong, and you're not going to have the traction an Adventure bike will have. But really, any motorcycle can discover any road; just some are better suited.

tips? Ride it like a boss! boom! Actually when I got on a dirt road with the Road GLide I stayed in neutral whenever possible so if I hit an unexpected bump or slid I wouldn't accidently jerk the throttle and lose control of the bike

So easy to fall into the busy trap. It’s taken me a decade at least to learn to just have me time where I do nothing but be with myself. I don’t book myself for anything, I make no plans, I do whatever I want that day, and none of what I do relates to my usual workflow, life flow and social flow. It might mean a ride on my own, or sit in the sun in the backyard for hours while eating crackers and dip. It helps a lot having a support crew that has your back. Brilliant!

You shouldn't have any trouble on dirt roads. Isn't the land slug permanently stuck in rain mode😁. Haw just kidding, I hate dirt roads also, but mostly because of the 3 hours I have to spend Cleaning my harley afterwards. The shiny bits and bobs look great, but suck to keep clean.

I'm no fan of gravel, either. The road in front of my house is such old asphalt it's basically just dirt and gravel. Never feels comfortable.

Those smooth unsealed roads are a perfect opportunity to let the bike get a bit squiggly and learn what happens when you lose traction. You see hell. I see fun times.
