I ride whatever the weather but totally understand if people ride only in the best conditions. For me personally.... I bought my bike to use not look at. Happy New Year Big Rob 👍🏻
Jan 9th and 38C/100F wonderful. It's 29F (below freezing so under 0C) in West Virginia with snow on the ground but roads are mostly clear. At one point in time the motorcycle was my only mode of transportation. Luckily friends helped me out with rides during ice conditions. Almost 40 years later and retired with multiple vehicles and Vulcan 1500 Classic; I am a fair weather rider and proud of it.
I love the heat, seriously love being warm on my bikes... currently, we have around 2 or 3 degrees in the UK, I ride through it, got decent kit so don't get cold. However, it is utterly fine to be a fair weather rider, why if you don't enjoy it, ride when it is too hot or too cold. You paid for the beasty, so enjoy it as you wish. I do however think that those that ride year round, do gain better riding skills, but, if you don't ride in the slime, why would you need to know how to ride the slime!
I legit went to ride and film a video for this week and when I awoke this morning it was cold af and drizzly. I'm down to ride in the cold, I'm down to ride when its wet. I'm out when its cold and wet lol
In the summer, it rains almost everyday, so if you are a fair weather rider, you won't ride. Now, I try not to leave the house during a downpour, but you will at some point get caught in a downpour. Great topic
Nice video. If it is downright pouring out, I am not going out. If its possibility of rain, then I'm out riding and if I get caught in it, then "Oh well". Living in Upstate New York , once they lay salt down on the roads in the winter, my bike is put away. It's not that cold, but it's about all the salt they spread on the roads. I don't want my bike to rust up. I will ride up to the day they salt.
Fortunately where we live in the US it doesn't get to crazy cold and we ride all year. Just got back from motocamping in the cold last week. Only time we really don't ride is in the ice.
I absolutely hate the heat, hate summer with a passion! 😉😂 Bring on Autumn… then again, we can be like that because we don’t get extreme cold here as you know. I’m happy to ride in the rain if I get caught out in it, however if the forecast says a lot of rain and I’m only planning a day ride, then I won’t… what’s the point in riding if the full enjoyment ain’t there. My opinion anyway…
Hi rob i ride all year round put 75 thousand kms a year 🤪 on the bike you are a long time dead got my new kawasaki vulcan 1700 vaquero and loving it to be far only take it out on a dry track ride the suzuki v strom 1050 xt all weather Cheers 🍻 from new Zealand
I am in the UK and only do not ride when there is bad ice on the road, nothing else bothers me enjoying riding all year round, heavy weight bikes like my Ultra Limited do not like ice too well.
I'm not a fair weather rider however my bike does get put up once it's snows and the city puts down sand and salt for the winter. To dangerous to ride. Fortunately I've got a heated garage with a lift, so winter time is motorcycle mod time. It give me a chance to take my time and do the upgrades that I want to do on the bike. Well at least that's what I tell myself so I don't spiral into a deep depression when Iowa becomes a winter wasteland of freezing misery 😂🤣
At the end of the day be the rider you want to be but don't run around bragging about being a bad ass biker if you won't even ride when there's the possibility of rain in like a week

@3:26 being from a place that's rides on the other side of the road. That car made me poop a little
Before I attended VaMM21, last year, I had never intentionally ridden in the rain and we all had a great time!

Love the video mate, and yes anyone who mocks another person is a dick.
Happy New Year Rob 🤙🤙
Cheers mate, I know I'll never change some people's minds, but if I can encourage some people to grin whilst riding then I'm happy as a pig in sh*t.
@@BigRobMoto you're awesome mate
Great video Big Rob!
Son in law and I are going out tomorrow and it's going to be 40f (4c). Not sure what I am thinking....

It’s okay to be a rider. The end.
Personally and currently I don't have much choice. The bike is not here and I don't have a space to store one right now :-\
