    Is there a reason you can't get or pay someone to sail it up the coast? Surely there's at least one person who would jump at the chance?

    • @ZeroFun
      @ZeroFun 2 дня назад

      I had an unexpected 20-25K expense getting it to Florida. It was also delivered so late that I can’t get it up to Virginia any time soon. Windows for me to bring it up were spring and mid/early summer of this year. I’m 86K in on the boat already. If I can sell it at $279K, I’m “only” out 30K or so. Can’t afford to pay someone to motor it up the ICW for a month or two, only to then have to make payments on and maintain a boat, while my savings are already drained.

    • @ZeroFun
      @ZeroFun 2 дня назад

      I found a mooring in the Jacksonville area that's ~$70/month. But it means she can't be actively shown, so I need to eat all the expenses if I do it, but it'll save me $1,130/month sitting up there until spring. If she doesn't sell in the next two months, my daughter and I are flying down to Ft Lauderdale mid December. Getting familiarized with S/V Amped (since I've never been on her in the year I've been making loan payments now. lol), provision her, and try to make it 300 miles up the ICW before Christmas. I'd love to do it on wind/sun alone, but I have a feeling in 'the ditch', there won't be much sailing possible, and I'll have to pay for marinas to charge at night often. Should be some interesting content if that happens. Fingers are still crossed that she sells in the next few weeks though, really screwed up my early retirement plans. Started looking for work and before/after school care again.

      I actually don't know, I don't see why you couldn't mount them on the back. The rear nameplate drops down to become a "beach" across the back when at anchor. Would provide amazing access to a dinghy in the water, give you a place to set groceries and the like before climbing aboard. I'd give Keith at HopYachts USA a call, he has all the answers. Asking 300K, since she’s new, and no wait for delivery, plus you get all the options for free basically. I’m open to offers though, but apparently I’m going to get asking during winter? Dunno. They're about to IPO. They'll collect hundreds of more millions I imagine. Pay themselves 50M a year for another few years, then declare bankruptcy and fold the company. IPO is the pinnacle of the con, especially if you can't make any actual products. Ideanomics (Energica's new owners) kept buying companies with their investor money, so it looked like they were going somewhere. Meanwhile, they paid their execs MILLIONs. Stock went from $600 in 2021, down to $.15 a share now. CEO is still making $20 mill a year last I heard.

      Sorry, if I leave anything up for more than a few seconds, I lose watchers. The screen can be paused at least? I bought it to vacation down the keys in spring with the family, after some late winter test sailing on my own. But the delivery kept slipping. All the way to hurricane season basically. Plus the shipping was supposed to be 4-6K, and a few hundred bucks for importing. Ended up at 26K for shipping and 4K almost for importing. Blew all my savings that I needed for a new car on it. Now it’s stuck in Florida where the slip is almost a grand more expensive per month vs up north where I planned on keeping her. If she doesn’t sell by spring, I’m out like 40+ grand I didn’t plan on spending, and still need to move her up. Hoping to sell and recoup my unplanned shipping costs.

      @@ZeroFun Mate. That’s horrible. Why was there that blow out. Was there a date of delivery agreement? That’s rough man.

    • @ZeroFun
      @ZeroFun 27 дней назад

      It was my first ever new boat, and it was a stretch of my finances to buy at the original cost estimates. But they were a new builder, doing something I wanted to support, so as much as it sucks not having it delivered during the sailing season, I figured I could at least move it up to cheaper slips every few months when my family had long weekends to have little adventures. No delivery date agreement. From watching youtube and reading forums, it's quite common for boats to be several months, or even a year late being built. So, my being green there bit me. But yeah, the idea of paying 1K to get it assembled, a few grand for two shipping containers, and a few hundred bucks for importing it...not exactly how it played out. No one wants to dedicate a team for a day to putting together a little boat, not when they can charge 20K to assemble a million dollar cat with the same personnel and space. So, flat 20K assembly fee, for the places that would even assemble it that weren't afraid. Ended up being 26K to send it, assembled, South Africa to Florida. Where it arrived covered in oil, poop, and other junk that builds up on the deck of a large ship during a long crossing. So, I got to pay to have my new boat detailed, as soon as it landed. Can't take it out sailing or move away from the boating hot spot of Miami/Fort Lauderdale, or I can't sell as new, and lose thousands off any potential sale. But hey, at least it's going to sell fast...right? So I was told. It's been a few months, costing me over 3 grand a month. For a boat I haven't seen yet, 1,100 miles away. After putting almost 60K into it. Much regret.

      @@ZeroFun oh. My. God. That is terrible. Poop in he boat!! Whaaaaat. There’s got to be a way to recover your costs. Insurances? Wait. So did you pay $300K for it? And then all the blown out costs?

    • @ZeroFun
      @ZeroFun 27 дней назад

      @poerava the new 300K price includes shipping and importing. So, no one else will go through what I went through. They learned their lesson. I paid less, but with the broker taking their cut and all of my costs, selling for 300k will pretty much brake even for me. (I have 10 or 15k extras on mine, autopilot, chart plotter, etc) Nah, no catastrophic damage for insurance to cover. Unless you’re suggesting an “accident” happens to it while I’m down sailing over Christmas vacation and I get it totaled. Lol. No, not going to do that. She’s going to sit there all winter, for sale. Being detailed every month or two probably, and I bleed out financially, with no savings.

Also, when I went to Revolt's website to get specs on the bike, and see what the pricing was, I did not see the bike mentioned on their site at all. What am I missing? @@KevinK38 don't worry Kevin Kachadourian I will walk you through this. You see the Land Speed Records are broken up into specific classes based on all sorts of criteria and the AMA have defined all sorts of things. They have body and streamlined types, and then they have power source. There's a prefix which describes the bodywork and powertrain and a suffix that describes the power source. This information is all freely available to anyone. Lighting set a record years ago in the APS-O category. APS is defined as SPECIAL CONSTRUCTION PARTIAL STREAMLINING and the -O stands for Electric or steam. That record stood until earlier this month when the ReVolt team brought a bike that was SPECIAL CONSTRUCTION PARTIAL STREAMLINING - ELECTRIC and it went faster. This supplanted Lightning's record. Now, and I'm going to use small words, there was ANOTHER RECORD that has no relation to this. The record was for a Production class electric motorcycle to set record. It doesn't matter if you go 1mph or 300mph you set a world record. The Production class Electric (P-O) has never been set. It's very very simple.

      It’s a class C boat, I shouldn’t be going further out from the coast than the cell signals. There’s actually a lot of towers along the coast, often giving data 10+ miles out I’ve heard. So long as I can check weather a few times a day, I’m happy. Coast guard should be hailable for the entire trip too. Plus theres a weather update channel that broadcasts regularly and warns of storms. I’m bringing a pretty beefy WiFi router with a TMobile cell line SIM in it. Changed the TTL on the router and it makes the network think it’s a regular cell phone’s data, not the limited / throttled hotspot data. :D

    • @RedemptionReady
      @RedemptionReady Месяц назад

      @@ZeroFun nope that's where you can sail. The bitch of the ditch is SC from Georgetown to Cape fear. 70 miles of nothing and nowhere to anchor. About 100' wide at most and in the rock pile section as narrow as 40'. Though I heard a person die over radio during a gale 8 storm on the Neuse as I was crossing. Was fine then boom 50mph steady winds, waves came over my Ocesnis 351 cabin. Ran a heeled state with zero sails up of nearly 30*. Bare pole sailing into the Bar river. Several calls to Coast guard station just 15nm away, they never left till the storm passed. Tow Boat was first in scene, family of 5 aground 4 souls rescued. That was a tough day. You'll sail from Hobe Sound up to Titusville before needing to run the motors till South of St Augustine. The ruins on Cumberland Island is a must. If you can make 70nm, which is what I can do in a day with a diesel at 5kts avg... You can run the ditch to Norfolk in about 2 weeks an a day. My best time was Hilton Head (windmill harbor is a hurricane hole) to Norfolk in 9 days. We had 1 lay day and a half day due to storms. Miami to Ftaiderdal, just go outside and run that. It's a Pita with some 30 bridges. And never move on a weekend in Florida. It's not fun. Your best bets for marinas to charge up at is the city marinas. Theyll be around 2-4 a foot. The heat will be the worst part, summer lulls are on right now so not much wind and what is there is sometimes too much. You'll want at least 3 weeks to come up. The tides are 9' in GA to NC and the currents that go with run 2kts or more through large parts, the Myrtle ditch bitch is one area. TIME IT!! 2' draft you won't have to wait for water in the Carolinas. It's a good ride. Offshore is so boring! Lots of good places to checkout and some good foodie spots. It's really really cool run. Offshore you have to be on watch, no sleeping. Inshore you anchor at night and sleep. I've done both, 9800nm solo as well. I'd suggest the ditch. You'll need a dink, either buy one or borrow. I'd suggest a rollup as that boat was designed around small boat storage, leverage it. Wait till Labor day weekend, WM drops the RU250 to 500.

    This is about the size of the factory Zero had in 2014. Technology doesn't take a footprint. I wonder if they don't have enough VC money? VC money dried up when interest rates went up. Having a valuation doesn't mean you have a *budget* which is what is needed to build a factory.

    • @ZeroFun
      @ZeroFun 2 месяца назад

      They raised $30,000,000 in series B funding two and a half years ago. They had $20,000,000 in pre-orders to spend. I can't find it now, but $20,000,000 from something else, original investors? Zero in 2014 sold a few mountain bikes with motors a year. These are serious motorcycles. Damon's factory in Canada was 110,000sq feet. So, in this case, technology does take a footprint. They canned that and moved production into 3 garage bays and some office space? There was also state/local incentives for building the factory. Allegedly, incentives were better in California, so they "moved production" there. But uh, I don't know. Just seems like they're going to make more prototypes to show off and raise their soon to be stock launch with.
