Been with landstar going on 6 years… i feel your pain… its slow right now. Fortunately, my wife and i run teams, and we have dedicated lanes. Took about 6 months to get in good with direct agents. Most good loads don’t even hit the load board. Our average rpm is 4.15. Good luck. Hope it works out for you.

Knight went down hill when they merged with Swift, they have some goons running it now. $30k a year to work 7 days a week 12 hour days. You would make more if you put those hours in a McDonalds for minimum wage and be home every night

Short loads don't generally make a good daily minimum. You need to have a good daily minimum plus a good rate per mile mix and a lot for time.

Question, on the loads you show it shows the total amount paid but I've only seen 0 for accessorials pay. Which landstar can't touch that. I was just curious on why no loads show that pay. Example you showed a load paying 1800 here. So landstar would take 35 percent of that? Since it shows 0 on access pay?

Man this is super thorough and incredibly helpful. As a company driver with little business acumen but wanting to know the numbers of the other aspects of owner op/ leasing. This is super helpful.

Your booking too cheap and if your gonna book that cheap do short load. To get you back to the money. You gotta figure if it’s posted for $3.00 that about $2.00 to the truck after landstar’s cut. Would never book a load for less than 2.50 and that’s to get out of a bad area. Which rarely ever happens that I have to book that low. I’ve been with landstar less than a year and don’t have many contacts and it’s not hard to gross 6-7k easy weekly.

Great content. How many hours away from home this week? It may not be worth it if you are making $15 per hour 22.5 OT. I had a business and threw in the towel for a city job for this reason. Best decision I ever made.

You need to get a dispatch course to learn the market. I gross 7k Monday to Friday/saturday Van only Texas, weekend off and I’m lazy in running loads.

If your maintenance is about .30 p/m now, you should always budget that. The Landstar costs are crazy high also. You do a good job breaking it down.

The 1 thing you don't quantify on your spreadsheet is the value of working for yourself and the flexibility that allows. I would always take lower pay for more time off.

I saw the video wen he left knight. He sead he was on duty 142 days in a year .but had 52 weeks of pay.so how did he do this.well 142days is not even 6 months.he wasn't making any money.well I lease a truck at knight for 5 years .retired may 2020 with 35 years over the road and 3.8 million miles. My pay was from $2100 to $ 2600 a week.snd staid out 4 weeks. Home for 2 days then back again. I don't know what's going on out thete but don't look like he puts enough time in on the road

Flatbed here, anything 49k+ is usually steel but brokers often lie on the weight to scare off hotshots. The only advantage to a 53 is you can fit more product on it with light materials. If it's heavy stuff like steel there's no difference between a 53 or 48 but having a spread axle helps though.

Must of all flatbed loads are heavy 45 to 48k because we are lighter. my empty weight is only 30k with full tanks. And the weight have nothing to do with the trailer lenght . 48ft is just your most common that guys but i would rather have a 53ft flatbed
