    PDF is a container-format and just a simple-to-use format (benefit and downside is that they are notoriously hard to change later one), TIFF is a good and widely supported format (well - if some shop does not support TIFF then you most likely should avoid them - that is like going to a gas-station and they don't have petrol). RGB vs CMYK - that is only a difference in internal representation. If you really need to last bit of available colour-space then CMYK is more often than not preferred, but if the channels are chosen large enough there is no difference. And at NO POINT EVER should it have an impact on the final print. If that is the case then there is something wrong with the print-settings. if you design prints professionally you might want to look into printing reference-monitors. Yeah they are royally expensive but are certified to have the "correct" appearance. Otherwise at least get a well calibrated monitor and not a cheap normal consumer monitor cause they can have colour variations by as much as 10% - which really looks wrong for art. When ever dealing with new clients or companies be sure to ask them a lot about what technologies and procedures they use, which formats and encodings they support. If they don't know what sRGB, SwopV2, YCocg or ICC means then you should take the time and figure out what they really want to do and what they expect. Chances are everything they say is somewhat wrong. "This can not be that important" i hear you say? www.nonstopprinting.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/GIF-color-profile-assign-changes-1.gif This is a single image but shown according to different color-profiles. still the exact same RGB value, just the profile. So if somebody is not able to tell you those details then you have to test it out with them.

    I never knew anything about the difference between RGB and CYMK...Cyan,Yellow,Magenta....Kangaroo? :D What is K? Apparently it stands for Key or Black, we'll just say it's Kuro heehee. But thanks for the tip. I usually just take pictures of my art work and share with friends. I don't really print them, not myself at least. But about 14 years ago a couple of pages of my sketchbook was scanned by a print shop and made into cards to be sold at their store front. I didn't take any payment or royalty. It's a very small town, they can have whatever sales they made. But I am pretty sure they scanned it and saved into PDF, but I do notice that the prints were a little darker, so chances are, they were in RGB. Thanks to you, now I know :D

    Hi Chika! I enjoyed watching this video on digital art! I find digital art very fun to do, because there are many walkthrough tutorials I can follow on RUclips that shows you how to create a picture. I am not very good at coming up with the idea and drawing it out, so I use tutorials almost like art therapy. I like following along with Art with Flo as they have some easy-to-follow designs. I really liked that ipad stand too that you showed at the beginning. Do you edit videos using your ipad too? I'm wondering if that stand would be useful for that as well for me as my neck get stiff looking down to edit videos. I am very interested in trying to learn how to do watercolor in procreate to make cozy food and snack scenes, and this video helped to inspire me to dive back in. Thanks for the video, and I hope you have a great week!

    I love watching videos on this! Not because I have been dreaming of creating a picture book, but because I have never dreamt of creating one😮 does that make sense? I find it so fascinating learning about things I don't know much about, making books it's just one of them❤ I'm not sure my favourite children book will be available for you, as it is very Dutch, and I struggle to find any of them here😢 but it's called "Pinkeltje"! and it's about a gnome that helps out in the home of this big human, and goes on adventures and such😊💘 I have been desperately wanting to read them again as an adult, I hope I will again one day!! in the meantime i am really interested into fairytales again, fairies & gnomes, magic, and lots more! your story is making me emotional, too 😭 as it's quite a personal story for me, too. looking forward to future updates🥰💖🎃 happy fall & much love!!!

      Hi Nads! I thought this video could be watched by people who want to create a picture book, but it’s really interesting to know that you have a different perspective😳 I checked out Pinkeltje on Google, and it looks so fun with vibrant colors and lots of imagination. I’ll try to see if there’s a translated version available at the library nearby. The concept of little people helping humans reminds me of The Secret World of Arrietty by Hayao Miyazaki💡 I’m still working on how these stories go. I think I get too personal when I think about the ending. The girl could just be me wanting to know how it ends... well, let’s see🧐 I hope you enjoy the beautiful fall! Lots of love from my little studio🍂

    It's really super fun to use both mediums! Personally, I literally use both haha. Because I don't have scanner or printer yet, I would draw on paper then copy and transfer it to digital. We're also not well off, so the convenience and cost-effectiveness digital offers is such a big help. I started out with just a phone and my finger. 😂 Now, I have my own tablet and stylus pens. Hoping to save up for more equipment in the near future!! Keep going, artists!! 💛

    on making picture book process number 1 omg 2 videos? 👀 I only found out from the comments haha (thanks aleks) that's a cute story! but I felt a strong sense of loss but that it was also okay maybe that's as far as you've gotten because that's actually the end? like if the middle was: the kid playing in the woods near grandma's house - but left their scarf behind - and creativity stayed with the scarf as it got cleaned - time passes - the scarf belongs to the now grown girl whose daughter is playing at great grandma's house - and finds her childhood scarf while doing laundry? There were so many great tips in this video!

    • @ogawachikako
      @ogawachikako 4 дня назад

      Wow, I really liked the idea you brought up about the scarf! 🤯 I'm tempted to use this idea, haha.it's so beautiful! I’m still working on the ending...maybe the girl could be me, and I’m still looking for an answer....Uuuum...😕 I made another video a month ago for the day when I might not feel creative enough to record, but now I don’t have the safety net to skip, haha. So that means I’ll have to work harder😅💪

      @@ogawachikako I'm happy you like it ✨ Whichever version you use I'm sure it will be great! btw just to be clear I'd be happy if you used it because then I'd get to see more of your art haha maybe she's you! maybe she's a random person who keeps losing her scarf and you find it on a run, say hi to creativity, and return her scarf to her house 😂 I'm sure creativity will always come back to you; no matter which path you take! maybe that's how you could fill in the safety net a video on creating little safety nets or pick me ups like leaving a kit kat in a jacket pocket for the break in between tests 🙏

    Hello again Chi-Chan! It’s such a surprise to see 2 videos this Thursday. It’s such a well put-together process for people who would like to pursue this goal of publishing their children’s book. I actually didn’t think much about the process or systematic steps in doing research like visiting library, understanding targeted age-group and such. I feel that I may benefit a lot from this series! I really like that imaginary creature “Creativity”… reminds me a bit of a baby Godzilla, or the Bubble Bobble dragons :) And the quick recap, the beaver wearing a cap holding a pencil is so cute. Chi-Chan! I am so happy that you’re making this video. It will be helpful when it’s time for me to jump back into my Procreate when I get my new iPad Pro. My current one is 8 years old :D So it’s a bit dated. But sometimes I do feel that the convenience of digital art, makes me to draw less traditionally? I know it’s a personal issue, so I need to find the balance between these two techniques. I won’t set anymore sketchbook completion goals next year, so I will be more free to explore other mediums. This video actually is very helpful for people to make a shopping list too. Animation is something that I haven’t yet explored. I can’t wait to do that :D Hey… why are there two videos this week?!! Rakiiiiii!!!

    • @ogawachikako
      @ogawachikako 4 дня назад

      Hi, Alex! I remembered that you have an iPad that you haven’t used for a while. I think you’ll enjoy it as a different medium. But I agree with you. I’ve recently stuck to my sketchbook because I thought I enjoyed the time spent feeling textures and art materials. Animation takes time if you do traditionally, but I enjoy it (I have made over 200 layers for 8 seconds animation before haha) As you said, it’s all about finding balance🍂 I just finished tomorrow's video... phew! It was a bit rushed, haha. I’ll see you tomorrow☺️✨

      @@ogawachikako Evie was telling me earlier that mistakes like posting videos earlier than planned is are pretty common. She said that you can unlist it (maybe similar like making it private) and then relist it on the day when you want people to see it. But I am glad you’re able to get another one done in time. Even if you don’t post another one tomorrow, I don’t think anyone would be upset since we basically get 2 videos last week. We can always watch them again :D 200 layers for a 8-second video?!!! >.< okay… I may not have that kind of energy or resolve to do something like that. We’ll see.

I really like the idea of examining WHY we want things - you bring out a great thought that we might be left empty after doing/getting things if there is no fulfilling reason. This was so relaxing! I watched it while I had a morning cup of coffee before I started my day, but I can see myself coming back to this later to do the drawing exercise. As for my physical self, I think I would be a sloth. Sloth move slowly and at their own pace, and because I have movement issues due to cerebral palsy, I find I can relate to them on a deep level 😋 For my cognitive self, I'd pick a hummingbird because I think they work hard to be in the big world they are in, and I am always trying to understand myself on a cognitive level by looking at all the different "flowers" of perspectives. For my emotional self, I pick the tarsier because they are shy and skittish and look a bit frazzled... until I am comfortable. When I am comfortable I become a capybara who doesn't mind much of anything haha.

      やっほー、Evie! I hope you had a wonderful weekend! Oh, choosing a sloth, hummingbird, and tarsier is such a great choice! Imagining it made me smile 💕 It’s so fun how everyone has a different perspective of themselves. When I visited Brazil, I saw a wild capybara and was shocked-it wasn’t at all what I had imagined! In Japan, there’s an anime called Kapibara-san, and I always thought it was a small brown mouse. But in reality, they’re actually quite big😂

    You wanna visit the shire and paint faces? 👀 I tried this exercise when I was 15 and kind of hated it LOL it was important for me to try - and I think it was quite helpful I think it went something like: 1. wrote down 100 things 2. felt frustrated 3. thought about combining all the things into one thing 4. only made sense when I changed the way I thought about it the one thing I got out of it was: living to 100 with the possibility of 80 to 120 and then writing down a much more limited version of all 100 things as tasks to do in the next 5 years in a way that helps towards the big goal but that was a long time ago 😂 thanks for the reminder! you've inspired me to try this again!

      Oh, 15 years old! I hope you’ll try again now, it’s relaxing. Last time I did it a few years ago, I was like, 'First, I want to go to the UK, then Italy, and of course, Spain…' I was just counting one by one and not thinking much! XD It gets more interesting when you focus on daily wishes. I managed to reach 16 items smoothly, but I had to squeeze my wishes little by little😅 The next 5 years sounds like a good time span. Maybe we can break it down into small, achievable goals later🤓 I hope you have a wonderful week, see you soon^^

    Chi-chan... you uploaded this video at a different time :D Threw me off slightly, because I usually watch your videos on Thursday morning. Anyway, it's really nice for you to incorporate language lesson into this one. I am going to create a private playlist for Japanese Language, so thank you in advance. As far as animals go, I actually never thought about spiritual animals that representing yourself in different ways. I always think that I like animals because they are cute. But if I absolutely have to pick, maybe I'll pick giraffe for my physical self, since I am 6'2". Beaver for cognitive self because I am an engineer like them, and I'd pick a bird too for emotional self, because I do feel like I fly around a lot...if I can pick a specific bird, then it has to be Shima-enaga :D they're just cute that's why. Your husband definitely took some really nice shots with beautiful angles for this video. I really like peeking through the window and see shapes of buildings with limited amount of daylight. This is very nice, Chikako! I do enjoy your nighttime art therapy videos so far... it's a unique format! Cozy and creative. I think learning a bit of Japanese in addition is a great bonus, though... I'm going to be much slower on that part, haha! I'm endlessly curious about language though - one of my favorite things to study. I thought a little bit about what my animals would be - that was harder than I expected. At one point I had assigned "direwolf" to myself (as depicted in Game of Thrones) - fiercely loyal to their people, helpful, deep emotional connection, live to help others succeed. I don't know if that captured it completely, but it worked for me for a while. With your categories... hm...Physical - maybe a golden retriever... always happy to spend time with my friends, mostly pretty chill, but definitely ready to be goofy. Emotional... maybe a capybara? Overall, pretty happy and relaxed... get along with everyone, strong and steady, but essentially not very demonstrative. Go along to get along, I guess. Cognitive... I thought maybe a crow or a raccoon... curious, curious problem solvers. I dunno... that's what I came up with quickly as it gets late here. Thanks for the great things to ponder! Great video!

    This is a very pleasant surprise Chi-Chan! :) I understand the post is about creative process, but at the same time we can see that the studio is coming together really nicely. I really like the fairy lights on your wall. My wife likes that kind of stuff but I am too lazy to install and route the cable to the power source for her lol. I’ll do it for her when I am retired hahaha. The bridge is very cute, and I really like the cute animals you drew too. It’s so sweet for you to send it out as postcard. I tried doing that once for my wife’s friend as a surprise, but the mail got lost or stolen, so we don’t really have much trust on USPS anymore, especially when we paid insurance for it and still they claimed that they had delivered it. Ah well. Anyway, I can’t wait for me to finish my sketchbook so that I can focus more on wet media in my next phase. I will still draw with dry media occasionally but it wouldn’t be a ‘goal’ anymore.
