I think that Frye is actually pretty cool in story mode.

I honestly think it's Shiver that doesn't look right. She doesn't look like she has any eye ring...things at all. Every other character has them to some extent, making her just look super off to me. She's got some good themed event outits though. As for Pearl and Frye? I like Pearl. I didn't pay her much mind in the beginning of S2 because Callie was my favorite, I loved how her energetic nature bounced off Marie's chilled out sarcasm and Off The Hook was just kinda there for me. I mean, I liked their banter but they didn't stand out too much at first...and then Octo Expansion came out and made me love both of those characters about as much as I liked 3 or 8. The bond OTH has is just so sweet and makes me smile every time they interact, and even if 8 doesn't say anything they're so expressive. I feel like Deep Cut need their own DLC because those characters just DID NOT get enough character development. Small Man (baby Big Man) is pretty cute though.

I remember playing Splatoon 2 before octo expansion, I think. It just appeared suddenly to me because uhhh... oh yeah. I was still really young at the time, which meant I wasn't ever on RUclips, seeing people get mad. I thought Pearl's colors were really cool (but I still liked Marina more lol), so I had no hate opinion on her. When Splatoon 3 came around, I did NOT like the Deep Cut. They just looked like they had something done to them (in my opinion). The only one I generally liked was Big Man because uhh... LOOK AT THAT UWU MOUTH

Ever since I saw Frye, I loved her, because it looked like fans' idol designs, after seeing her forehead I thought maybe it's wrong, BUT NOW IT'S MY FAVORITE AFTER ALL :D✨

I still do think Frye’s design is very awkward and unappealing, coming from an outside perspective. At least Pearl has attractive gradients and a cool color scheme. Frye has random reds and purples pasted on dark skin contrasting awkwardly with a yellow and white apparel. I feel like the colors aren’t executed well to make her style look realistic or cartoonish. It’s just awkward.

While this game is now free to play, it has gain some newer players in the mix but i don't think it will cater it to the long run because it *still* has too many esport/ hardcore pro players plaguing up match ups and just ruining the experience for others trying to play for fun. (These are the only type of players that still play this game...) This is going turn off a lot of players they don't make easier for match making newer players and casuals. Tried to play this game again after some time but it seems the enjoyment is a bit worse now ever since it has go to free to play with the matchmaking.

A major reason why it took so long for me to warm up to Pearl was that her eyebrows kind of made the forehead problem worse. They’re almost the same shade as her skin in a lot of scenes so it makes the forehead look even longer and more stoic that it actually is. With Frye, her eyebrow color contrasts with the skin a lot better, making it not as much of an eyesore even if she has an even bigger forehead.
