Agree!
Great for building muscle and strength. a lot of people underestimate just how effective isometrics are if used property. Very well made and well designed. You can train all body parts even great for legs .isometric squats.and isometric deadllifts work nearly all muscles in body
Indeed.
I bought some of these recently to try them out. They came in a while back. Today, I looked up review videos for this product, to get more use-case ideas, and low and behold, there is Jonathan Pritchett. I had no idea. What a coincidence. Enjoying the video.
Welcome to my little known corner of RUclips! 😂😂😂
I've been using my Flybird bench for the last 2 years and shocked how well it's lasted for the price.
Yup. It’s a solid bench.
Good points! How does Angles 90 compare with Swissies?
I think it is an overall better product because it is more versatile. The key difference would be if you wanted something static or not. If so, then obviously the Swissies are better, and you can buy a separate accessory to make the Swissies essentially rotate as well. So it really depends on what you’re looking for.
@@TheologyGeekFitness Thank you! I decided to order V2 and the adapters.
Good work.
My new pulley system let me swap out for chest rows and triceps extensions. More fun.
Well there ya go 😅
totally agree! id put sandbag ahead of bands just because it produces such robustness in the body. I honestly believe that, for the average person, body weight exercises and a sandbag---of roughly half their body weight---is all thats necessary to stay generally fit and prepared., aswell as near minimalistic. instead of a dip bar id suggest rings, cause one can use them for anything a dip bar can do and more. Great video sir! very fund watch. 24.8.31
and by "robustness", i suppose i mean comfortability with lifting and holding something heavy, which is probably the most common use of our bodies nowadays next to walking, as well as producing decent strength and hypertrophy due to the significant weight.
I pretty much agree. Though, I do think rings may be a bit advanced for beginners, and I try to keep them I. Mind with these videos. Dips are harder on rings than bars, for example. But yeah, agree totally. Pull-up bar, rings, and sandbags are plenty to get a ton of work done.
@@TheologyGeekFitness yeah, i agree, rings are tricky for the average person, so i see that totally, i just love theyre versatility and size, but if i was to give, say, my mom one or the other id choose dip bars. stable, easy, and pretty safe.
I was concussed before concussing was cool when my doorway pull-up bar gave out, about 50 years ago. My current wall mounted device was professionally installed.
Ouch
Good selection of options. Since I don’t have a back yard to install a Home Depot unit, the doorway cantilever bar is my go to option. Whatever gets the job done.
Yeah, I’m blessed to finally have a backyard. Love the setup. I also just got the Bullbar 2.0 in on Monday. Will have a review of that soon.
I like everything I can do with my new pulley system better than I did with dumbbells. And somehow doing them with pulleys has added about 75 calories to the same workout. Let’s me eat more ice cream.
Minutes not munites. But I like the routine. For the pike push-up, are your feet on a stable unmoving bar or can that sucker roll? If it can roll, that’s some crazy stability you’ve got going on.
I’m both king of typos and king of being too lazy to fix them. No, that bar doesn’t roll. I’m an old man. 😁
I'm awaiting mine, should be here soon... got the vest too.
They’re great. Enjoy!
Yeah, dips are great and pretty safe also when you get into the weighted variety. You don’t need a spotter no matter how heavy you make them. Try that with a heavy bench press! Some people say that they hurt their shoulders but I never had that experience. I splurged and got the IronMind dip unit. The price is certainly not on the low end but they are adjustable in both height and width, and with different attachments can be used for squats and pull-ups as well. It’s like the Rolls Royce of body weight and weighted equipment for these movements, but once again they’re not inexpensive. Thanks for the video!
It’s been a while since I’ve bothered to bench press. Just checked out the IronMind dip unit. Very nice!
I do something similar with my captain’s chair, only I throw my legs out to the sides and out front. I think if it as an abs exercise.
😁
Good work out I'll say
Thanks!
Nice of Arkansas to give the dissolute Petrino another chance. There is hope for everyone, amirite?
It’ll be interesting for sure.
@@TheologyGeekFitness maybe if you are an Arkansas fan. Do you miss Lou Holtz yet?
An ab mat helps make the crunches more effective by elongating the abs and then contacting you come all the way up. Good video.
Fantastic video as always! In my opinion, single-leg calf raises, ring-assisted pistol squats, reverse Nordics, and Nordic curls are some of the most accessible yet challenging calisthenics leg moves to master. Keep up the great work!
Yeah, I do need to start working more of that in to my workouts.
My top 3 favorite moves are Hanging knee raises, ab rollouts, and L-sit pullups. Thanks for the awesome content and inspiration!
At some point you stop building and start managing decline. I got the pulley system to stop doing pull-ups. There is a last time for everything, as the great hymn says.
Yeah, but I’d still do a 1 set of pull-ups for as many you can until you can’t do any. The last pull-up you ever do should be when you can’t even do one.
@@TheologyGeekFitness one day you may have arthritis in your shoulders, so that pull ups and bench presses may do more harm than good. I would rather think of it as an old football injury, but who is kidding whom, or vice versa?
I just did all of those. I do a chest set, a back set, a shoulder set, another back set, a different shoulder set, an ab set, an arm set, an ab set, a different arm set. 411 active calories today. I have been doing about 50% more left arm than right, because I am so lopsided, but it has not changed much. My right arm is Popeye and my left arm is Olive Oyl. RUclips pooped out on me, so instead of you, Braxton and Leighton discussing open theism, I heard Winger’s 10 questions.
What time of day? How long does it take? Don’t you listen to anything? I need about 90 minutes of RUclips or podcasts per day to get through my upper body weights, while ESPN or the Olympics are silently on tv. Debates seem to be especially invigorating in a workout. I listen to Steve Gregg when I run. He has one million hours of content on his site.
I listen to music or podcasts usually. My workouts typically take only 40-45 minutes unless I am also shooting b roll for the channel.
What do you curl, bro?
Just kidding
All kinds of different equipment. 😂👍
Hi
Great review. They make pull-ups fun/easier. I also use these on a hex bar (for deadlifts/squats) when injury /niggles threaten my lower back (poor mobility = poor form). This feels a lot safer (and maybe with time will allow a progression back to full range of motion and better form).
Hope it does. At 47, I’ve been working on mobility issues more than muscle and strength these days.
Not a comfy looking wooden box. Nice lefty tri though.
Gotta get some handstand push-ups in the mix! Best thing for those are the parallettes. Wish I could find a way to use resistance bands to add resistance for that exercise.
bands are not a good way to develop strength in the movement anyway, you want to master the progressions, obviously make sure you have a stacked handstand for one, not all handstands are equal, so be stacked
HI! Thank you for the review! Where did you see them for $25? Do you have a link for that?
They were on sale for a while at Amazon. It appears to be over now.
Just saw that they are on sale for that price at their website right now.
@@TheologyGeekFitness Thank you for the info!
Pro tip: according to the latest scienctific literature, the calves get more activation in the stretch to parallel section of the movement. More activation that full range of movement. More activation that parallel to flexion (as in this video). The reason is that the biomechanics of the calves allow to load up more weight than the other two options. I hope that helps if your goal is mainly hypertrophy.
Looks like Ranger training.
I can see owning a gym in your future.
It will have only one member though.
Music is too too too too loud
Sorry about that.
Great review! I had no idea it had such awesome synergy with the other iso trainers using it as a door anchor, thats so sick. Perfect for the aparment
Yup, great product with lots of uses.
Will that strap fit around your foot too or just the hands?
It’s a tight fit, but it will go around your foot. I never bothered with it though.
Good form 👍
Thanks! 🙏
I walk for my cardio now, at 65, I really don’t need to do anything backbreaking cardio wise at this point in my life,I was a runner for 25 yrs, but now those days are in the rear view mirror. I bought myself a desk cycle, and have started doing that, and I enjoy doing it while I’m watching TV.another reason I got the DeskCycle also, is I’m going to have knee replacement surgery soon, so that will be part of my rehab program, not looking forward to it, but I need to get it done.
Ooh, knee replacement stinks, but the peddle station works great for me too.
Does tossing and turning at night count as cardio?
It should. 😁
Great review sir
Just got my new pull down bar, but the cable for my weight bag is too long to work with it. Do I need 2 cables, and swap them out each time?
Yeah, I’ve found cables of different lengths on Amazon and picked up a few different ones.
I just started using rings recently and I've never felt more sore. A pair of rings was probably the best investment for my home gym. I just got the kensui nanobars v2 as well so I hope they'll be just as good as my rings
I think dips are more comfortable on the Nanobars v2. But yeah, rings are fantastic.
Where did that bar you are pulling down come from? And what is the weird metal tee for that came with my Angles 90 stuff. A round disc with a rod sticking out?
Amazon. XonyiCos LAT Put Down Bar Cable... www.amazon.com/dp/B0C22Z3N3F?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share That is a loading pin for weight plates.
@@TheologyGeekFitness thanks. They are careful not to overdo the instructions. They must not have lawyers.
No such thing as medial Delts! 😊
Not enough resistance unless you want to add a weight vest. I stick to ring dips and ring pull-ups. Plenty of work with those two!
Depends on how much you angle yourself.
Unlike me, I hope you are following drs orders. Mine said to lift 10 lbs max. Ha!
That’s just weird. I probably wouldn’t listen to that advice at all.
Thanks for the heads up on the resistance bands. I also like much of what they sell. I think they made a fortune on the weight vests, you see them everywhere. The only thing I wish is That their adjust-a-bells could hold more weight. Always like your videos. Keep grinding!👍
Their Adjustabell Max holds up to 150 lbs per dumbbell.
One tip I found useful for this unit - keep one handle on one end of the strap then just adjust the other one to where you need it and just move the strap to position. Hopefully I explained it so it made sense. Enjoy your iso strap 👍
Will try that.
Decent. I prefer a one arm standing press with the band or bands anchored at the bottom of a door. More resistance with better strength gains. Can twist the body into the press for more explosive power and athleticism.
Agree with you that most people do not think about legs/leg exercises with rings. Always have to listen to your opinions as you come up with gems and overlooked exercises every so often. I would add sissy squats to your list of ring leg exercises. These can be tortuous in a good way.
Yeah, I do incorporate sissy squats, using the rings for balance (as I do with pistols, though, I’m not a fan of those since my mobility isn’t great, and I’m not a fan of unilateral exercises).
