One Year of Filmdeg Miniatures
Today marks one year since I uploaded my first "proper" video - John Blanche chatting about some of his iconic Warhammer artwork. I thought I'd just post a small thank you video really - to all the people who've let me come film them talk about Warhammer, and to everyone who has watched, liked, commented, subscribed etc. The last 12 months have been awesome - I never thought I'd be doing anything like this. Its been really exciting to meet all these famous hobby names who shaped my childhood and their work continues to live rent free in my head, and to have a continued friendship with some of them has been really great.
Ultimately, this YT channel is really just a way of facilitating this ...

Mike McVey on Dioramas
Просмотров 8 тыс.21 час назад
When I went up to see Mike McVey we also filmed him talking about some of his diorama work from back in the day, including his iconic Horus vs Emperor dual, his Lustria display and his Warhammer Quest scene. Really interesting to hear his memories on building them and the free artistic license he had at that time in his career. These videos were made in my spare time, and if you wish to pop a d...
Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Classic Warhammer PC Games
Просмотров 1,7 тыс.День назад
Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate was another game that really brought the IP to life for me, being able to control a small contingent of Ultramarines in the fight against the forces of Chaos, the game has a very 2nd edition vibe about it (given the time it was made) and one thing that's always stood out for me is the soundtrack. I got to speak with Jim Crew, the composer who wrote the music for the...
Rick Priestley on Warmaster
Просмотров 8 тыс.14 дней назад
I met up with Rick Priestley again, this time to hear him talk about Warmaster. Great to hear some of the background and development of the game, a look at some of Rick's armies (I'll post some more pics on my instagram) and how Warmaster was the basis for some of his more recent games like Black Powder and Hail Caesar. These videos were made in my spare time, and if you wish to pop a donation ...
Andy Chambers & Jervis Johnson on Battle Reports
Просмотров 11 тыс.21 день назад
I got together with Andy Chambers & Jervis Johnson to hear them reminisce about their old battle reports. Really fascinating to hear them chat about the early days of producing them, what they brought to White Dwarf and how they've evolved over the years, and of course we look at a few specific battles from their long old rivalry! These videos were made in my spare time, and if you wish to pop ...
Neil Roberts on The Horus Heresy: Books 1-4
Просмотров 2,8 тыс.28 дней назад
I got to visit Neil Roberts, the illustrator for Black Library's Horus Heresy series. Neil's work spans the entire 64 books in the series, and given the narrative is beloved by so many in the hobby, it was really exciting to meet him and hear how he first got involved in the project and how he became the sole illustrator for the series. We also look at his artwork for the first 4 books in the s...
Final Liberation: Epic 40k - Classic Warhammer PC Games
Просмотров 3,1 тыс.Месяц назад
Final Liberation: Epic 40k was one of my earliest introductions to Warhammer. The Geoff Taylor artwork lives rent free in my head, and the game's wide array of units, heavy metal soundtrack, and movie cut scenes featuring the iconic Commissar Holt really caught my imagination as a kid, and its a game I still play pretty much weekly. So it was really great for me to have a chat with Andrew Green...
Trish Carden and Mark Farr on Marauder Miniatures
Просмотров 6 тыс.Месяц назад
I popped over to see Trish Garden and Mark Farr to hear them chatting about their time operating as Marauder Miniatures. A really wonderful period in GW's history, it was great to hear their comments - especially on Marauder putting its stamp on future editions of Warhammer Fantasy Battle. The pair of them also treated me to an impressive display of their collections of Marauder Miniatures and ...
Robin Dews on White Dwarf
Просмотров 6 тыс.Месяц назад
Robin Dews chatted with me about his time working on White Dwarf, picking out 12 memorable issues that for him hold a lot of professional and personal value. Some really interesting insights into the direction he wanted to take the magazine, including battle reports and cover illustrations. You can buy Robin and John's book "Talking Miniatures" here: www.talkingminiatures.co.uk/ These videos we...
Andy Chambers on Battlefleet Gothic
Просмотров 14 тыс.Месяц назад
A video I'd wanted to shoot for a long time, Andy Chambers was kind enough to sit down and talk about Battlefleet Gothic - from the initial concept to the release of the starter box set, and beyond with its support from Fanatic/Specialist Games and Forgeworld. Really awesome to hear him talk so passionately about the game and considering how well loved it is still, hopefully you'll enjoy this! ...
John Stallard and Robin Dews on Talking Miniatures
Просмотров 2 тыс.Месяц назад
Last year John Stallard and Robin Dews, both veterans of Games Workshop, released "Talking Miniatures" - a wonderful book filled with conversations, stories and accounts from a wide range of "key" personnel from Games Workshop's past, including Rick Priestley, Bob Naismith, Tony Ackland and many more. It recently won the "Best Gaming Accessory" from On Table Top, and is an excellent book well w...
Mike McVey on 'Eavy Metal
Просмотров 31 тыс.2 месяца назад
I popped up north to see Mike McVey! We'd been wanting to film this for a little while now, so it was really great to be able to go visit him and hear him talk about his career through GW and 'Eavy Metal, and have a look at some of the guidebooks he produced back then. These videos were made in my spare time, and if you wish to pop a donation my way to help support me it'd be greatly appreciate...
John Blanche discussing more of his iconic artwork
Просмотров 6 тыс.2 месяца назад
Back in August 2023 I uploaded my first video - John Blanche discussing a few of his most famous pieces of Warhammer Art. It was really well received as there wasn't much of this sort of thing online. Since then I've gone on to do a number of other videos, but John and I decided it'd be good to do another Art video. Similar format as before, we picked a few of his iconic pieces and just got him...
Jervis Johnson and Rick Priestley on Necromunda
Просмотров 22 тыс.3 месяца назад
I spent an afternoon hanging out with Jervis Johnson and Rick Priestley who were kind enough to spend a bit of time chatting about the history and development of Necromunda. There's some really interesting talk about the "shrinking the 40k sandbox" mindset, and how the game's continued support through Fanatic Magazine came to an end (in an official capacity). Rick also discovers Warhammer: The ...

They are great book covers, and still stand up to this day. His comment about the plan was for 3 books... wish it had stayed that way. Enough information, and retain the mystery of the main events. As it is, the series is too bloated.

Love your work. These guys your interviewing are awesome. Without really knowing it they gave such a lot to so many people with their efforts. I can never work out why things like a WFB Dwarf army meant so much to me at 15 that I still think about it at 50? They really gave something special to the world. I hope your work with this channel helps them understand the incredible effect they’ve had on at least a large portion of a generation. I feel bad that I can’t even buy them a pint in return. Although I feel GW have had several more pints from me than I ever wanted to give them. Anyway thank you for your efforts Filmdeg it’s deeply appreciated.

Love this reminiscences. Being a Warhammer player since 3rd. Edition ( 1984ish ) , lot's of stories come up...Unfortunately, Warmaster was not very popular here in Germany. Although it was , imho, one of the best games from GW. Still not perfect, but a very good start. Today's fanbased version, WM Revolution, is great. As "Hail Caesar" from WLG. Of course HC is not a 100% replication of historically accurate battles, but it gives fun and the flavour of such battles. As does Warmaster/Revolution with regards to Fantasy. 10-15mm is a great scale for such massive battles. I play WLG Epic battles Pike & Shot in 13mm and also Legions Imperialis ( 30k ) in 8mm. As one who loves great and grand battles, these rulesets are perfect. But I think one could also play old WHFB like 6th./7th. or 8th Edition or WAP in 10 / 15mm scale. The only problem is, to find likeminded gamers...

Those Perry conquistador sculpts are interesting, they're similar to Pirazzo's Lost Legion for the Dogs of War, but those only come equipped with pikes or crossbows instead of handguns and have bigger variety in the torsos than the ones in the diorama.
