I've been building models of one kind or another since the late sixties. I stopped for a few years when I was in the Navy, and then about ten years when my son was young and I didn't have the time or money to do anything. Now I build mostly out of the box with inexpensive upgrades to the engine and undercarriage. I love the older cars and as of late I've been digging into them fairly hard, but I do have a few other things on my plate, so check back often to see what I've gotten myself into.
I plan on doing box openings on all the kits I build. I will post tips and tricks for anything I do that you may want to see. Just drop me a line or a comment and I'll see what I can do to help.

Got a lot painted!!!!
This big guy took about 2/3 of a bottle of gunmetal to cover the body.
I made a video showing it and the interior. Check out how I cheated to get it to look like leather. So darn easy.

Lindberg Red Demon 1/8 Scale Build Update #3 The engine is DONE (almost)!! I had to pop a video showing it before I moved onto the chassis and body. Everything has gone better than I could have hoped. The only problem with the kit is that the chrome is so old that it all will need stripped. But I’m really good with that because I like how the green stuff is looking. Links: Gaahleri airbrush www...

What’s in the box that Lennis sent? And unboxing. I had to make a video of the unboxing. Lennis has supported me and our group from almost day one. He is a huge help keeping an eye on everything, and just being there. The other day he posted that box, and I told him I have to know what’s inside. Well, now everyone is going to know. LOL. I’m going to quote a great man, “Thanks Lennis for all you...

Lindberg Red Demon 1/8 Scale Build Update #2 The engine is coming along very nicely. I made a prototype of a working dipstick. The chrome for the engine and exhaust is all stripped and some of the drive train too. Some of the engine also got re chromed as well. I have the paint finally picked out and there are no go backs on it now because I already bough the paint. I did some detail work on th...

AMT ERTL 340 Engine Buddy Build with Bruce from Bruce’s Eclectic World Bruce threatened me with sending me his Plymouth 340 engine for me to detail up. I told him to go ahead and send it. Well two days later it showed up in the mail. Well, you all know me. I pulled out all the stops with this one. This is the most detailed engine I think I’ve done yet. I cut a how I did it video and this time i...

Lindberg Red Demon 1/8 Scale Build Update #1 I got the engine mocked up and found that I had to make a front motor mount. That is still a work in progress. The tub and bed are goi8ng to look good with the blower, and I have rims and tires picked out too. I made a video showing the mockup along with how the old Lindburg instructions read. This one you’ll want to watch. There is some cool extras ...

Lindberg Red Demon 1/8 Scale Unboxing. Here’s the Lindberg Red Demon 1/8 scale 3 N 1 Roadster kit. This big boy is going to be fun. This is from Arthur. This is copied from the comments. Kind of made me well up. My dad who owned this was an art teacher. He had a after school club that allowed the students use their imagination when they built the models. When I walked through the doors I felt like I walked into a friends house. So thank you very much. The talent here was off the charts. My jaw was on the ground most of the day. I even came home with a few unexpected medals.

ATLANTIS Mongoose finally This build flew by. . . No pun intended. Just about everything on it went well and fit nice. There’s about as many decals on this as a Tomcat, but they were really nice and cooperated. Just two things gave me trouble, and I covered them in the video. Looking good so far 😎😁
Thank you very much.
How's about embedding your UV sensor in the gas cap ?
That is a fantastic idea, but with this one there is not going to be a gas cap. It would have a barrel tank in the truck bed. But I will be using that on the next semi build I do.
Does the Tamiya masking tape won't lift the paint off?
As long as you give the paint time to cure it does not pull off the paint. Just make sure it's Tamiya tape. There's some out there packaged to look like Tamiya paint, but it will pull the paint.
Awesome update Mark. That is one epic model kit.
Thank you very much.
Mark you could paint the Ford in the red to match the wheels and engine just my opinion
Thank you. I think I will.
Grey and red, very southern rockabilly
LOL. I didn't think of that. It is.
That looks awesome with that X-10. I have 2 kits I want to use that on. I would mount the IR led on the side. The black leather came out great and that frame is great with that honkin engine setting it there. I would paint the letters white on the back and a GPM plate. Digging the whole thing Mark... LLAP 🖖
Thanks Bruce. That X-10 paints so dang nice. I have an idea for the IR LED now. I'll text you a picture of it tomorrow if it works. I have to do an honors plate, but I think I will paint the Ford and do a bumper sticker. LOL
You are making great progress on the kit, it looks really good. I think you should paint the Ford logo. Also, nice haircut😁
Thanks. It seems like it's going very slow right now because of all the prep, but it is moving along behind the scenes. I will paint the Ford logo. I think I lost 3 pounds with my haircut. LOL Thanks for watching.
Like the new look.
Thank you very much. It was time for a change.
The panel black over the flat looks great! Genius! I like the idea of the scrip painted red.
Thank you very much. It needed something bad, and I was afraid to use a clear over it. I will paint that script red. I will also try and make a bumper sticker. LOL
"So let it be written. So let it be done!" LOL ... Great video, Mark!
LOL
Nice delivery Mark. Looking forward to seeing you do the vinyl top on that 'Cuda. I got one of those today from Pat @cardzscaledreams3917 as a Pay It Forward giveaway win. I'm getting stoked as well! I am thinking of the hot pink. :)
Nice work!
Thank you very much.
That Lennis is a good man! Have fun with them builds, Boss!👍
He sure is a great person.
Awesome video and what cool kits Lennis sent... I have that 32 Ford kit for Shawn's Small Scale GB over at "The scale Model Car Guy Channel" in February. That will be a great kit and thanks for the look... Lol I got to say that is a cool Mopar kit... 😁 LLAP 🖖
I'm looking forward to doing that little 32. It's going to be fun to try and get the lights lit. LOL Other than the Roadsters and old T and A's I'm really starting to get into the Mopars.
Great job! That motor looks like it could actually run. 😎👍
Thank you very much.
Awesome video. What gauge wire is that you’re using?
Thanks. I use AWG 32 wire when I need to lengthen the LED wires. I have found some really long wired LEDs that usually make it from one end of the car to the other. Sure makes it a lot easier.
@@grandpamarkshobbies bet so. I’m just getting back into the hobby after a 30ish year hiatus so we’ll see what happens. Either way it’ll be fun. Thanks for your help and keep the good tips rolling! 👍🏻
For the spark plug wires I use .3mm solder.
Looking awesome Mark.
Thank you very much.
Another cool video Mark. I was thinking (oh shit) that the valve covers need red in the recesses. It would look cool. Anyway it's looking great! Did you try to start it yet? LOL Hey that skull should be facing the driver. It's so neat with the LED lights! Thanks man. Oh the eye glass screw idea was great. Can you use some on the front end and suspension? All the different silvers look awesome. Geez it's gonna be an awesome GIANT BEHEMOTH...
Thanks. I tried the red on the valve covers, but it was so different looking than the rest of the red I removed it and re chromed them. Yes, the head is going to look back. I'm not sure if I can use them with much more on this one. Right now I'm working on figuring out how I'm going to light the dash. I have a bunch of ideas with the lights, so it may be a while before I make much more progress until I have the electric figured out.
@@grandpamarkshobbies I really meant the scull should be looking at the driver not just back. It's gonna be cool. glad you tried the red. Thanks Mark
If I turn it it will have a little head tilt, and doesn't look right.
Nice detail work, those pulleys and belts look real. Cool light in the shifter.
Thank you very much.
Awesome brother! Love the gear shift!
Thanks a bunch.
@@grandpamarkshobbies yw brother!!
Mark that is looking awesome! Sorry I'm so behind on videos but you have that engine looking great... LLAP 🖖
Thank you very much. I'm about as far behind as you right now. LOL
Looking really good Mark, the shifter is so cool.
Thank you very much.
That is amazing!!! Looks so darn real!!! Great work!!
Thank you very much.
Blower engines generally don't have vacuum advance
Yeah, I thought of that after I had it all glued up. LOL I guess this will be that odd ball setup.
Awesome! I was showing my grandson the difference in size between your 1/8 scale and the 1/24, 1/25 scale cars I build. He was amazed. Great looking build so far Mark!!
Thanks. Yeah, this is so far out of my wheelhouse, and it takes up so much room. LOL
Looking good and love the skull shifter with the lit up eyes, very cool!
Thank you very much. I was afraid that painting the LED would take too much away, but it came out good.
Looks good mark ,thanks for the update.
Thank you very much.
Wow! Nice! My local hobby shop had 2 of these awhile back dirt cheap. Wish I would have grabbed one. I had no idea Lindberg put so much detail into this kit.
I'll tell you what, if you get a chance to grab one of these, or the Revell Monogram one I'd recommend it. They are a big BIG kit, but a lot of fun to work, on.
Good tip on the eye glasses screw kit. Looks great 👍
Thanks. I think there is a lot that can be done with those.
Nice update, looks killer. Have a great week!!
Thank you very much. You too.
Nice engine, huge kit. Looks great😊
Thank you. It is turning out much bigger than I expected.
Nice kits to get through the mail, are you going to paint the Cuda in purple?
LOL I did a purple one. This one is going to be white and black.
Awesome kits mark can’t wait to see those builds
Thanks. It's going to be so much fun.
Looking forward on this one. Is purple and white on the vision table
Thanks. I did a purple AAR, so I'm not sure. Maybe just white and black.
"So let it be written, so let it be done." Your brother's been watching "The Ten Commandments", hasn't he? Fun fact about that movie: Moses' wife, Zipporah, was played by Yvonne De Carlo, better known to us oldsters as Lily Munster. Have fun with your builds! I'm just finishing up a Tamiya M41 Walker Bulldog tank, and then I plan to build a Tamiya 1966 VW Beetle. I'm going to paint it tan to match the one I used to own until it was savagely murdered on March 2, 1983. Some things you don't forget.
I'll be dang, I didn't know that. We've watched The Ten Commandments every year like clockwork ever since we were kids. Love that movie. I never made the connection between the two. Now that you said it I can see it in my head. I had a 70 VW that I wish I still had. The most fun car I've ever owned, and I had a 69 charger and a 74 Firebird.
Geez 1/8 to 1/32 !!! Your hands and eyes will be paying the price for that change. LOL Do the 1/24th Cuda before the little one. LOL Another great unboxing with tips! Thanks Mark. Oh hey it will be great if you do a vinyl roof video! Do it on a old junker you don't care about if you have to. Black and white...NICE
LOL. I never thought of that. One thing about going from small scale to larger is the amount of small stuff stays the same, there's just more of it. LOL I will do a start to finish vinyl roof video too.
@@grandpamarkshobbies That will be great! Thanks Mark
Thanks for the tour. Some beautiful builds! How did you do? My brain needs to know... Thanks again Mark.
Thanks. I really had a good time there. It was a non judged show. I did take a few kits just to show off, and have fun with.
@@grandpamarkshobbies You are up there with the best!!!
Thank you very much.
I've done both these kits. You'll enjoy them. 😎👍
Cool, thanks. They both look great.
Two nice kits, good plans for the builds. Those Cuda's are nice looking cars and I also prefer having a vinyl roof on them.
Thanks. Yes, with the black shaker, side decal, and back spoiler the vinal roof is a need to have.
Wow Mark Im so Glad you like the Kits! Tho so sad the bumper Brkts is broken on the 32. be very careful with the headlamps i had to glue mine on one end snapped off right under the lamp. tho glue and overnite fixed that. As for the Cuda! I Love your idea of the paint and roof!! Im Watching YOU!! I also have this kit. The best part of it i also got my 40Percent off at HL! Ha! and i said i wasnt going to buy anymore kits!! Like i said Buddy watch how ya say - Man i want one of those!!! Your so Welcome My Friend!!
Again, thank you so much!!!!!! There's no problem with that back bumper support. I'll add that thin glue and bend it back in place and it will be perfect. My 32 roadster was like that. I always liked them with the shaker and spoiler when they had the black vinyl roof. I almost want to push this roadster out of the way and start them both. LOL
Completely unrelated to this video, Academy/MRC recently released a re-pop of the Texaco Station you built a while ago, it's just branded " Joe's Power Plus Service Station " now. Mine was just delivered today, and having watched you build yours, and others do reviews of the re-pop, I have to say that I COMPLETELY underestimated just how BIG this thing is!!!!!!
Oh yeah, it is big!!!! But it's got so much great detail in it that it's not all that big, and when you add a car on the lift it's so cool. I'll be back to work on mine as soon as this big roadster is done.
@@grandpamarkshobbies I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to do with mine, but it will be cool!
I'm looking forward to seeing what you do.
@@grandpamarkshobbies I do know that it's going to involve some graphic art creation with " Canva " and printing the decals myself for all the signage. I hope to have it finished by the next " Space City Shootout " so I can enter it in the diorama category.
Oh wow!!!! Very cool.
Nice 😎😁
Thanks.
The black drawer liner material looks like it would make great vinyl roof covering! I have a question regarding the 'cuda. If I want to do a fog light removal from the front bumper, what would be the best way to hide the scar on that chrome part?
Believe it or not Frog tape has been the best thing I've ever used for vinyl roofs. It paints well and holds very well. I'd use a good set of snips to cut the fog lights off, then a small file to clean the extra off. Then once it's on the car I'd use a Molotow pen to re chrome the scar. If you file it down well and smooth you'll never know they sere there.
Love your work What recording equipment do you use
Thank you very much. I use a web cam to take shots of my face, but for the down shots I use my I Phone. I have it on an articulating arm so I can move it up and down and in and out. I record to a software called OBS. It's free and is easy to learn. I use an app called IVCam to connect the phone to the computer. It works out great. To edit I use Lightworks. It isn't the best, but it really works for me.
both of those are gonna be great
Thank you very much.
Very nice gifts, cool unboxing.
Thank you very much.
Black vinyl top over white sounds like a great idea.... I might go with the 5 spoke Magnum 500 wheels on mine when I get around to it....😎👍
Thanks. Those rims will look great.
Now We all have one! That’s such a cool kit!!! That’s the horn I drilled out. I stripped the chrome suspension piece.
I thought that was the same kit. Such a cool little model.
@@grandpamarkshobbies Sure is!
Cool video , thanks for sharing and have a great weekend!!
Thank you very much. You have a great weekend too.
