A
Did she throw poop at him?
"I'm GLAD you killed him!" ... "I'm ashamed I didn't think of that (robbing him) myself!" Both women absolving the other for the desperate acts they're forced into by hunger and war. Showing strength and solidarity, and admiring each other's courage. (Even though it is true in this scene Scarlett had the physical labor because Melly really was half dead from illness.) But both contributed. Scarlett never imagined Melly had it in her to tell even a white lie, let alone face and cover up a scene like that!
So that’s how the most popular team in all of sports got their name
Happy Holidays 2024 - enjoy your family dinners
In the books his last words were ellen watch me take this one; i guess that is less cinematic but imo sadder
Meryl at 3:17 "... And they neverrr let me down ..." Juliette Lewis looking on in awe
Men can be such jackasses.
*I was reading the book “Gone With the Wind” to Br’er Rabbit, Br’er Fox, and Br’er Bear. Day after day I told them about Scarlett’s friends and family, about her wanting to marry Ashley Wilkes, the barbecue at Twelve Oaks, the Civil War, and trying to build the life back up after the Yankees attacked Tara.* Br’er Fox: Excuse us. How did Scarlett’s mother and father die? Lauren: Ellen died of typhoid fever, and Gerald fell off his horse while trying to jump the fence. Br’er Rabbit: That’s terrible. Did Ashley ask Scarlett to marry him? Lauren: No, and he won’t either. He’s marrying his cousin, Melanie Hamilton. Br’er Bear: Keep reading. Lauren: Okay. *I kept reading to the trio for days. I told them about Scarlett marrying three men over the years. She married Charles Hamilton because she wanted to be near Ashley. Next, she married Frank Kennedy because he’s wealthy. Last, she married Rhett Butler. They were very happy when Rhett and Scarlett had a daughter named Bonnie Blue Butler. Then they became heartbroken when they heard about her death.* Br’er Bear: Bonnie suffered the same fate as her grandfather? Lauren: Yes. When Dr. Meade told Rhett that her neck broke, he grabbed his gun and ran outside to shoot the poor pony. Then he wanted to kill himself. Scarlett called him a murderer for teaching their daughter to jump the fence. The funeral was set, but he wouldn’t allow it. Br’er Rabbit: (sadly) That broke my heart. Br’er Fox: (sadly) Don’t tell us anymore about dying. Finish the story. *Then I finished the story of Melanie dying from the complications of her second pregnancy, and Scarlett is trying to find a way to bring Rhett Butler back.* Br’er Rabbit: The story is sad but romantic. Br’er Fox: For once we agree with you. Lauren: I have an idea. If Johnny and Ginny are married and want children, they need to have names. Rhett if it’s a boy or Scarlett if it’s a girl. Br’er Bear: I love that idea. Br’er Fox: Those are great names. Br’er Rabbit: You sure come up with good ideas. Lauren: Sorry it took so long, boys. This is a big book, you know. Br’er Bear: That’s okay. Br’er Rabbit: You had to rest your voice. Br’er Fox: But it was nice hearing you read. Lauren: It’s been turned into a motion picture starring Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable. Jonas Wilkerson was trying to buy Tara from Scarlett, and you boys wanna know what she did? Br’er Rabbit: What? Lauren: She threw a clump of dirt in his face and said, “That’s all of Tara you’ll ever get.” Br’er Fox: Wow. She’s got spunk. Br’er Bear: Why would she do that? Lauren: Because she was told that he became one of the Yankees.
I couldn't tell my wife that on top of me cheating and the side woman pregnant and im in love with her smh i couldn't look her in the face and tell her even if it was true
The look on Scarlett's face when Mammy reminded her, Ashleigh was not her man 😂😂
Loved this episode😂this bit in particular kills me (as well as the scene where Peter tries to breastfeed Stewie)
This 🥷….
Let's all be honest, Troy was a real POS
Fer figs sake !
I feel like deep down Ashley did love Scarlett, but unlike Scarlett, he knew that a marriage between them would never work. The way he talks about Melanie in both the movie and the book implies that he feels that she is little more than a duty to him. He talks of her like she's a close friend, not like she's a wife. Meanwhile he carries Scarlett home after she sprains her ankle or whatever, he tells her how beautiful and wonderful she is...I think he's saying what he really feels and he's just not acting on it because of his loyalty.
If you think about it, it's easy to see why men like Troy could be so harmful and abusive. This movie took place in the '50s. During Jim Crow. When you could get lynched just for flirting with a white woman, talking wrong to a white man or not stepping off the sidewalk when a white person walked towards you. Dealing with in-your-face racism every day creates anger, bitterness, hate, resentment and rage. Where do you put all that? You can't take it out on your boss. You'll be fortunate if all you get is fired. Can't take it out on some random white person or a cop. You'd never see the next day. All they could do was take all those emotions out on their families. There was a reason why Troy said to Cory, "N****, as long as you in my house, you put a "Sir" on it when you talk to me." Black men took all kinds of disrespect from white people. They weren't about to put up with it in their own homes. It doesn't excuse Troy's behavior, but it does partially explain it.
To translate this narcissistic speech: I'm the victim and I will punish everyone else even my children for what my parents did to me. You aren't allowed to react or call out the abuse.
Gerald died easily
The way he comes back after his son pushes him to the fence...classic Denzel🔥
My ex was exactly like this. Absolutely ZERO accountability for his actions amd the hurt he caused those around him. He always complained about giving, but would admit he only gave because he was going to blackmail the person later. I helped him get his license which he was never going to so because he didn't want to "submit" to the DVM. Had i not done that, he wouldn't have gotten a job as a delivery driver which gave him enough money to get caught up on his child support and got him out of arrears. I let him use my car to get to and from work while i either waited for him to pick me up, rushed/cancelled my plans to pick him up, or catch a ride service. I paid vast majority of the shared bills, but he would complain that i didn't have enough left over for his drugs and alcohol. I have pets and he would complain that they were a waste of money, but would ignore me when i told him not to do something that would cause them to go to the ER. Whoa was always him regardless of how well things were actually going. If I confronted him about his behavior or told him i didn't like the way he was treating me it was always some weird unrelated analogy like in this scene that portayed him as a victim and being a bad person because no one understands him 🙄 Even when i caught on to the red flags, i convinced myself that he was just hurting and needed someone to love him through the pain. It's taken me a very long time and he's ruined my credit, but im getting my life back together. Im starting a new job that will help me financially recover and get away from him. Thank god we don't have children together and aren't married.
I believe ashley was in love with scarlett more than melanie, but he thought melanie was the only one that could ground him and give him what he needed. That s why in the end he needed her. He is very bipolar and wasn not fair to scarlett. I mean a guy that tells you that he doesn t love you and then kisses you wouldn t give you the same idea? I believe we all would have acted like scarlett. Especialy since he reminded her of her life before the war. And also illusions play a great part here.
OHHhhh!!!
At the 0:22 mark we see soldiers walking toward the camera. Are they escorting a Union prisoner? More importantly, I once read that this scene was intentionally cut short. There is clearly an abrupt cut. Can someone tell me WHY? What is it about this scene that is problematic?
I think Charles know that Little Charles's father is Beverly. Because the line: You tearing into your own son (Little Charles) not even a day later, that dishonors Beverly's memory. What does scolding Little Charles have to do with Beverly's memory if they are just uncle and nephew?
Brilliant!
She escaped death from burning as the fire missed the first express elevator. She escaped death from smoke inhalation as she was spotted on security camera and Jernigan and Doug came to the rescue. She escaped death from an explosion in the stairwell. She escaped death from falling as she climbed down the broken stairs She then have to run through a fiery corridor and sit through a second explosion set by the firemen She escaped death from a third explosion that crippled the scenic elevator. Then she fell out and went splat. Life's a B!tch, isn't it?😛
Dear fans i am a hindi speaker from india with very limited knowledge of English but lately these vfx movies killed the good Hollywood stuff ...these kind of movies teach something about life and great entertainment
This is one powerful movie. My grandfather married sisters. I understand 🩷
Definitely one of the most shocking moments in classic disaster genre
I would’ve paid big money to see this cast do the stage show
Surprise
Midlife crisis
"for the cause" !
Troy is a whole different breed of cold blooded smh haven’t even watched this movie yet
“He’s in the MATH DEPARTMUUNT!” lol Elizabeth Taylor defines “chewing up a scene.”
i feel bad for rose because she gave up everything she wanted to do in life for tht bastard troy also women do this daily guve up their dreams for a damn man they thought loved them when their just bums
What an actress
I wouldn't of gone to his funeral.
Like a scene straight out of a painting by Edvard Munch 😮
Diabolical
Its worth noting that even in the end when its pointed out that he takes troy cant handle that. she never said he doesnt give only that he also takes but his pride cant handle it living in a home his brothers sacrifice payed for and struggling becuase he cant take his momey as rent
He was horrible
Troy just wasn’t a good dude. He allowed life to make him that way. He didn't apologize to Rose, justified why he cheated on her, then asks her to help raise the baby when its real mother dies. That's cold.
He didn't deserve a good woman like rose!
@@cybertek3188"Stop it, now. You ought to know. It's time for you to know." Rose deserved better after eighteen years.
This mf mad he cheated and even more mad his son takes up for his mom lol
Bad men will cheat on good women and blame it on bad women that cheated on other bad men. Make it make sense.
You put the pressures and problems on yourself. Don't blame the most loyal person in your life for everything that's going wrong. That's weak and pitiful.
I would have told Troy "and I'm about to plant Strike Three right on your mouth if you keep talking."
Probably the longest excuse for cheating ever seen
I think we looove Scarlet so much is because she is so beautiful , and even she exploited her charms to the max in this movie ,this childish annoying character its only liked and credible because she is gorgeous, imagine another actress bit less beautiful could turn her into a witch , but somehow , and besides her limerence , we wanted to be her , spoiled like a doll , but having to marry anyone to survive is not nice , but is still happend the same . she beliwvws Melanie is fake , when scarlet killes the yankee , and the melanie covers her ,lying , and scarles says : how a cool lier you are.. like I knew you are not a saint or something
