One of its saving graces is that it’s only a $2.99 comic & I do want to see where it goes, so for the time being I don’t mind my LCS getting a few extra dollars out of me. That said, I do find myself, after every new issue, lamenting that Brett Booth & Adelso Corona are no longer on the title.

​@@CarlsCollection Okay, man, it's your money and time. But Booth & Corona, your primary (some might even say only) reason for continuing with it while they were still there, is gone now. But I understand. Back when I regularly read and collected comics, I kept buying several titles even when I no longer cared for the story AND art, simply due to my obsession with not wanting to "break up the run". However, years later when I was no longer reading and collecting at all, I realized the folly of continuing to buy those comics for such a ridiculous reason and wish I hadn't done that. Hence why I'm trying to save you from making the same mistake I did. 😅

You are absolutely correct in that I know at some point down the road I am going to question why I have so many issues. I just need to take it off my pull list & substitute it with something else, like Redcoat, I had fun with that first issue.

For all the crap the internet gets (justifiably so), the connecting of like minds when it comes to collecting and appreciating comic art has been a wonderful thing!

Chalk me up as one of those hardcore, will buy any book Capullo does because I love the art so much types so even though i personally don’t love a mystery, I feel confident it’s going to be from something I’ve read and am familiar with. I still find myself on the fence when it comes to the CAL Mystery sketches. Lots of great art is produced during that event but it’s still at a price point where I’d rather sink money into a targeted commission from any of the artists that impress me from that event. Fun to see, but still not for me is where I land there. Ahh the beauty of choice on where to spend our money right? It’s one of the great things about this hobby, no two collections are the same, unlike say a Marvel Legends toy collector who is a completest or a Vintage Star Wars collector, those collections end up looking similar.

Thanks Rubén! I call it like I see it! These definitely are not for everyone but for those that enjoy process stuff, I find them quite fun. Could even luck out and get something with a little more detail. Some of the prelims from some of the crazier stories like Metal & Death Metal where there is so much action, the prelims tend to be really tough and I decipher without comparing it to the published page.

It honestly used to be much more difficult because it could pop up on any day of the week. Now that it’s only Monday, the chances are better. If you really want to go after one, just check the site often on Monday’s. Outside of that & dumb luck, there really isn’t much of a strategy I know of. Good luck!!

Thanks Ruben I really appreciate the kind words! As we’ve touched on in the past, that’s what I find interesting too, the people & the stories more than the stuff. Sure the stuff is fun, but the selling to buy more and constantly evaluating the collection is not something I see talked about as much in the collecting space so I’m happy to add my thought process! I don’t want to be a channel of always acquiring & ignoring the realities of having too much stuff.

I also have a killer Mike Allred Ursus cover that will be a permanent fixture of my collection. Another case of artist I love tackling a favorite franchise!

That’s awesome! I actually missed the height of its popularity but discovered them on TV, but not fully watching them all beginning to end until probably high school. I was hooked! Love them all! Very niche in the art collector community but thrilled I was able to get this one & not have to stress about it during an art drop!

Oh man, ouch. Sorry to hear. Ice, rest and get back out there champ, there is art that needs commenting! Feel better soon! Yeah, as for Skottie, it’s just such a fun style. There are plenty that will dismiss it solely as cartoonish & kiddy…to those I say…yeah, and?!? Of course it is, that’s what makes it fun! I love how this one just tells a great story and says so much & boils an entire franchise down to its most basic premise. Fear of things we don’t understand!

Tell me & show why I need to turn that page! I thought this was a great hook in We Have Demons! You know I’d love to hear you talk more about art in your collection, so by all means, find that time if possible!

You definitely inspired me! The more people saying it, maybe more people will be encouraged to join in on the fun! Great different way to engage with our own art! That Superboy Prime page was on my radar as soon as I turned the page of the issue on that first read through! Thankfully a nice sale brought it down to a more manageable price! The hero turned villain, if done well, is quite intriguing! Also makes the redemption all the sweeter!

True story, I knew I wanted to start engaging with the hobby in some kind of way but was a little hesitant. Getting the invite to do your show got me moving to get things set up and then afterwards I figured I’d just start my own channel. Why not right?

Honestly, for me, Spawn comics are super tasty “popcorn” comics, just a vehicle for some really great art. Specifically, it was Brett Booth’s work on Gunslinger Spawn, and now on the main Spawn title that has reignited my interest in them. Also, I do love the “Old West” motif! So above all, it’s character design which is why some of these covers really jump out at me. This one was a very fresh take & approach! Definitely spoke to me!

…and I have to add, I very much appreciate you taking the time to watch these unboxings knowing there is a high likelihood (currently) of seeing some Gunslinger Spawn!
