Money was never an issue for me when servicing my cars at dealerships but started to have doubts whether they actually performed all the things they stated and I caught them cheating! I drained the oil myself, unscrewed the cap on oil filter, made a mark on the filter and put everything back on. Then took my 2019 GLS450 to the dealership and they hit me with $9400 estimates for work urgently needed to be done, that being lower control arms needed to be replaced, left axle boot was torn and regular service. I refused repairs but asked to do the 40k service only($640). Brought the car home and looked at it myself, there was absolutely nothing wrong with control arms, no knocking, nothing, 40k on the car!Axle boot had lots of grease on it, torn right? I got suspicious the grease was “fresh” and clean. I wiped it off clean and 7k miles later to this day still no sign of grease! Then I drain the oil and unscrewed oil filter cap… and lo and behold my old oil filter I marked was still there!!! Of course I went back to the dealer and complained to no avail. No more servicing my car at a dealership!!!!

I just used carb cleaner and rags and it worked. A plastic toothbrush is good too. The harsh solvents in the carb cleaner are healthy for the bottom end of the engine, clean everything out. When I was done, I blasted it with compressed air to blow the sovent and any debris out. Wiped engine oil into the cylinders and hand cranked it a few turns to have everything wet and lubed for first startup and corrosion prevention until I finish putting it together.

How do you change the battery? I figure it seems the job need a battery saver or calibration need to be done rather than just replace the battery

Normally you would read your camber off the gauge first and adjust it, then do your caster adjustment. At least that's the way I use that tool and it is also the way the manufacturer suggests.

I have 2019 gls450 and I spent $2700 for Rear air suspension just few months ago. ( 60k miles) Now they have found a radiator leak ( 67k miles) another $1500

I just did mine. I managed to do it without removing anything else (like the firewall liner). But it was ridiculously difficult. These engines are not DIY friendly, even replacing just the air filter requires so much extra steps!

best video on gl450 spark plug replacement. the most difficult part -- pulling the boot out is horrible nightmare. Without the tool, it is impossible for me, even with the tool, it is still very painful to pull the furthest 2 boots off. on the driver side, the oil dip stick is blocking the way, so i uncrewed and move it slightly out of my way. thanks for putting together this video

Been stuck on this for 2 days now our oil filter looks just like yours. Gonna try to make the socket tonight and pray and hope it finally comes off. To say it has truly pissed us off is an understatement 😑

You can also use zip tie by putting it first then letting it bite into the wire then pull it.

After replacing two door handles on my 2009 Kia Sportage, I bought a 4 pack of handles on eBay (black - left, right, front and rear) for less than the price of 2, and I've already used two of them, so if they break in the same order next time, I'm way ahead on this repair job.

Lets be honest. You skipped over that bottom caliper bracket bolt thats inside the control arm bracket because your socket wrench wouldn't fit. It's U shape making a 1/4 inch driver too big too fit in the space. I recommend a smaller 1/4 inch driver to get it started.

I dropped the screw down into the door when I was unscrewing it. Now I don’t have a replacement screw to attach the piece I ordered! Will I have to take the door apart to get it or can I just use a regular screw that fits?
