I was quoted $300 to fix this. $12 part from Amazon …,10minutes to install….Bob’s you’re uncle. One tip is don’t back the set screw too far because it will catch on the edge of the hole that it passed through making it impossible to tighten back through the hole. I had to widen the hole to allow it to pass. Thanks so much for this Vid!!!

So unscrew just enough to take off the broken bit, and then start new one right after... Thanks for sharing, that sounds like a mistake I would make 😅
Ok, I just rewatched it. Yes, she actually alludes to this in the video when she says to back the screw off until it’s flush. I backed it off too far and it would not reenter the hole until I enlarged it.
I promise you this is a lifesaver because I watched another video that didn’t mention the screw & I was so lost lol but the dealership quoted me a stupid amount just to fix & I can easily do this at home. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!

Thanks! I had replaced one on the passenger side rear about a year ago and forgot how to do it LOL! BTW...I only needed the end cap, not the whole door handle so it was only 7 bucks! If that is all you need, specify "end cap" and for which door. Good job on ALL your videos! Keepin' my 2013 Sorento alive!! Just turned 39K miles!!
Wonderful! Rear rh door handle (which in the UK is offside] pulled out of my Kia Soul with a huge bang - so that the forward end was exposed and wouldn't go back.. Early in August my local Kia dealer offered to book it in on 30 September (!) and they'd want it for a whole day for diagnosis! With the help of this video I was able to fix it in minutes this morning. Was ultra careful not to drop the screw inside the door - used grips for the last few threads. Many thanks and you're now a bookmark fixture! Long may your brilliant advice continue!🧐

Thank you so much for your video. I live in Australia and the door handle for just the driver side, the dealer quoted me $184AU for a “diagnostic check-up”, then the part hand to be ordered, $100AU. Then when it arrives, another $184 to install it. Bought the handle off Amazon and did it myself, $34AU 😂

@@chelseamarie2218 thankfully I didn’t need to it was still attached to the door when the handle came off. The handle came last week from Amazon and I’m good as new. I’m just glad I didn’t have a much newer Kia otherwise I wouldn’t have had that small compartment to take off to get to the screw,
@@AC-qv4ij Omg girl the handle is half way connected to car. It appears nothing wrong with the handle until you pull the handle to get inside the car. One side is attached the other side is broken so I have to be extra careful when opening
Sometimes the new handle will come with a gasket, and other times you have to reuse your old one. If you’re already threw your old one away shop around for one that definitely comes with a new gasket.
Thank you. The Kia handle is a pretty ornament that also has a slightly functional use. It breaks. It must not be abused by opening and closing the door unless great care is taken.

I’m not sure, but I would start by looking through any mounting holes on the exterior of the door to see if I could get a tool in there to activate the latch
Great video. This happened to my 2016 sorento recently. I think kia got wind on the simplicity on fixing this and decided to take away that access hole because mine doesn't have one. Looks like I got to figure out how to take off the inside panel. Any tricks on how to do this?
Sorry, I don’t have access to a 2016 or newer model. Usually though there were a couple of attaching screws somewhere on the panel, sometimes behind plastic cover. Remove those after you find them and lift the panel up and away from the door.

Real nice clear and simple video. How about the driver's side door handle - the door will lock using the key - BUT - after the dealer replaced the door latches ( recall ) the door will ONLY lock with key, not the fob. I can plainly hear a rattle when opening and closing the door - did the tech forget to attach rods - and is it necessary to remove the entire door panel to figure this out? The way things stand, not only did the tech screw things up - he also forgot to put the screw back in to secure the cylinder - I can now remove the entire lock cylinder as easy as picking my nose. No, I won't return because he wants to charge me to 'diagnose' the problem - even after I've sent photos of what's going on.
I’m not sure what the mechanical problem is, probably a rod that is not reattached like you said. In any case, the door panel will need to come off to access those components.
That is usually either the window regulator or the power window motor. We produce videos as we do work on our own cars so we kind of have to wait till a problem crops up to make a new video. Hope that helps!

Thanks for this video the dealership told me $309. I ordered the handle but what is that piece called that padding called that protects the metal? Just realized I don't have that.
We found that so long ago I don’t recall if the new handle came with a gasket or if we reuse our old one. Ironically, I can tell this one is about to break so the next time I replace it for the third time, I will see if the new handle comes with the piece of rubber.

When the link opens scroll down it shows what ppl normally purchased with the handled and the pad was on there. The padding should be here tomorrow!! Yeah!! That gasket typically helps keep moisture out of the inside of the door. This one looks like it also cushions the handle when it slams against the base when you let go of the handle. While you can have functionality without it, I’d go ahead and order one and install it whenever it becomes available.

Based on the videos I’ve seen this happening is not that uncommon which surprised me so don’t feel too bad.

Look on Amazon at the different options, a new handle should come with a new washer if you buy a kit that indicates that it comes with one.
