Steve Martin, Life Behind Bars
Добавлен 28 окт 2020
Are you into snowmobiles as much as I am? Do you dream of deep days while in the middle of the summer? Do you read all about the new sled you ordered, do you take it apart when you get it to see what has changed? Do you like making adjustments, and tweaking it to your riding style? Steve Martin, Ski-Doo ambassador thinks the same! He was a professional snocross racer for Ski-Doo in the 2000's, hillclimb racer, cross country racer, appeared in many sled films including Slednecks, built mod race sleds, mod mountain sleds, and now lives for the deep, cold days in the mountains. The evolution of snowmobiling is exciting, and showing the capabilities of the new sleds in the mountains is the goal of this channel. Follow along for the laughs, the epic days, and tech tips to keep your snowmobile running at peak performance.

‘22 Ski-Doo chaincase oil change and inspection
Any thoughts on the secondary rollers breaking. Poo riders point this out as a major issue.
I’ve honestly never broken a secondary roller. I see a few posts during the winter about some breaking. I believe the roller material changed for ‘25. I really believe it has to do with how you go from forward to reverse, and vice versa.
@SteveMartin12 Not sure if OEM has better material but I know aftermarket has it. I tend to agree, the Operator, in angst of trying to get unstuck is full throttling back and forth. Most stuff turns to shit in the hands of the uneducated public. Thanks for sharing 👍
You didn’t even blow out your clutches or inspect the secondary rollers!!!
I’ve never broken a single secondary roller. I don’t blow them out, I disassemble to clean, which I’ll do after more miles
You would think the company that has to honor warranty claims would do everything possible to increase the longevity of their motors. Why buy a $20k sled and try to save $20 on oil?
Do you think ski doo actually makes oil
The difference is simple. After market oil is formulated upon general industry standards. OEM oil is designed upon the specific needs of the engine, with the addition of additives formulated for performance, fuel economy and reliabilty.
@@SteveMartin12Amen 🙏
Preach it!
You can rebuild those shocks. Guy here does them all the time and changes valving. Good shocks for what they are.
Just got one for my Lynx👍👍
Where is this?
Awesome!
do you feel the line on eth fixed sheev you pointed to juat after you seperated the clucth is the alignment mark OR the riming mark
Remember, when reading the avalanche forecast, read the entire forecast. The rose compass is important, but below you can read about the exact problems, size of the avalanche to expect and many other things. Forecasters do an amazing job at giving you the whole picture. Make sure you all take a minute and really read through the entire forecast report for the day.
I know you’re from right over the mountain from where I’m from…. You ever ride Bondurant?
Occasionally. When the snow gets good around here, I usually don’t roam too far away. I love that area though!
Hey Steve, I ride the Uintah’s as well. I come from the Kamas side of Mirror lake Highway and the gate is closed at Soapstone Basin. Where do they close the gate on your side? Is it after the bear River Ranger station or before?
It’s right after Bear River Lodge, about 2 miles before the ranger station. They’ve started grooming. It’s one lane to the Whitney turnoff though, They’re hauling slash piles out of the area still
@ right on! Thank you. Steve!🤘
For forecasts, OpenSnow is great but so is forecast.weather.gov. Your Bald Mtn area is here: forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lon=-110.89661701982405&lat=40.69676569926591. Use the map towards the middle of the page to select your specific point you want a forecast for.

Where I’m at all the snow melted
That’s a bummer!
Hey Steve, This was a fantastic breakdown of not only the ‘25 sleds, but it also provided a lot of clarity between the Summit and Freeride models. With that said, if I was looking to get my first sled to primarily for purposes of using it as a chairlift to go skiing but, knowing myself, also to do some jumps and drops and generally race around the backcountry, which would you recommend? I’m already thinking something with a 165 track length if I’m getting someone to double me to the top (I assume 175 is only for competition hill-climbing), but would the Freeride provide better stability while doubling given the wider track width or should I look at the narrower Summit? I should also note, I do not have any interest in seeking out technical hill climbing or side-hilling. Thanks, - Colin
Yeah the Freeride would offer more stability due to the wider ski stance. A lot of my friends that sled ski, ride the Summit X 165, more maneuverable, and easier to access the backcountry.

Not breaking Gods commandments includes not doing pagan holidays like Christmas Easter Halloween etc. and again it’s all because if we truly believe in Yeshua and His words we will do what He says, and if we don’t we are liars

Your dealer can access the High Altitude Spec sheet in the Knowledge Center on Boss web, I can usually find it by googling it as well

Right on fellas
I think its funny you guys don't even acknowledge muskoka... he's done more for the sport in the last few years then anyone ! Real footage and real reviews. And full of adventures. I'm guessing skidoo would slap your hand for mentioning him...
They definitely wouldn’t care if I mentioned him. I talk to Muskoka quite a bit. He didnt come up in conversation, the only part I can think of, is when Jeremy asked who my favorite person was to follow, and I was honestly just thinking of Instagram right away. I have nothing but respect for Matt, and I do enjoy his content. Thanks for watching 👍
@SteveMartin12 just thought it was humorous that you only mentioned ambassadors to skidoo ...
@@darcydriedger8763everyone knows he is blacklisted by the ambassadors.. such a shame he would of been the perfect fit for ski-doo. But then again he tells honest reviews which many ambassadors won’t ever admit on video.
Jay and Blaine were riding with him yesterday…
You know what’s crap for 23 and 24 GEN five skidoo summits. You can’t stop the track some ratcheting. 20+ thousand dollars for a sled and skidoo will not fix it so you have to pay even more money. I personally feel like it should be a recall.
I really don’t know the metrics for initiating a recall. It definitely was an issue, from an increase in HP and traction over the past few years. It’s always been, that if you have significantly ratcheted your track, the drivers were compromised, so I am always very diligent in maintaining proper track tension. If you can’t stop the ratcheting, even with the updated drivers, I would have a good look at the condition of the rear skid, especially the rails, make sure they are straight. The updated drivers have been a huge improvement, between last winter and so far this year, they aren’t as sensitive to track tension. Thanks for watching 👍
