Remember, when reading the avalanche forecast, read the entire forecast. The rose compass is important, but below you can read about the exact problems, size of the avalanche to expect and many other things. Forecasters do an amazing job at giving you the whole picture. Make sure you all take a minute and really read through the entire forecast report for the day.

I know you’re from right over the mountain from where I’m from…. You ever ride Bondurant?

Occasionally. When the snow gets good around here, I usually don’t roam too far away. I love that area though!

Hey Steve, I ride the Uintah’s as well. I come from the Kamas side of Mirror lake Highway and the gate is closed at Soapstone Basin. Where do they close the gate on your side? Is it after the bear River Ranger station or before?

It’s right after Bear River Lodge, about 2 miles before the ranger station. They’ve started grooming. It’s one lane to the Whitney turnoff though, They’re hauling slash piles out of the area still

For forecasts, OpenSnow is great but so is forecast.weather.gov.
Your Bald Mtn area is here: forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lon=-110.89661701982405&lat=40.69676569926591. Use the map towards the middle of the page to select your specific point you want a forecast for.
