Come along on my hiking adventures and explore the Pacific Northwest with me!
Hi. I'm Steve, your guide through the Pacific Northwest. I take you along with me to see waterfalls, scenic vistas, rivers, lakes, and mountains. So if you want to see a hiking channel that shows you the most beautiful parts of the Pacific Northwest then this channel is for you. I let nature do the talking during my hikes. I also give hiking gear reviews and tips as well to help you before you hit the trail.
Since 2015, I have traveled the United States extensively spending time at 24 national parks and countless state parks. Unfortunately, I took no video footage of the hundreds of trails I hiked and the backpacking I did, only a ton of pictures. So I decided it was time to make some videos and take you along with me as I explore the Pacific Northwest.

Amazing views, you made a great video. Full support and a big like 💚 You got my subscription!
@@EmmasNatureEscapes Thank you. I appreciate it. It was such a great day out. It was awesome to get such good footage. Can't wait to check out more of the coast next year.
Love this footage! What a beautiful day to hike. There are a lot of great hiking areas in the Las Vegas area, if you ever come back check out some more!
@@patrickw123 It was definitely a great day out and perfect for some drone footage. I've done a bunch of hikes in and near Red Rock in the past just never filmed it. My next video will be Valley of Fire State Park which was my first time there. Absolutely loved it. Will definitely go back there next time I visit Vegas. Thanks for checking out the video.
@ when you return check out more of the Valley of Fire, the more hidden but easily accessible Bowl of Fire in the Lake Mead National Rec Area, the Hidden Forest in the Desert National Wildlife Refuge, and the Amargosa Dunes!
@@patrickw123 Noted. Thanks for the tips. I love the less trafficked and hidden trails.
Spectacular views!
Thanks. I'm glad I brought my drone with me.
Big time Stress relief here!
Glad the video was able to provide that. It's a beautiful area.
@ ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
That ain’t no Oregon. Lol. Beautiful landscape!
Lol. I had to get some hiking in and it was a nice change of scenery. Maybe if I said I was in eastern Oregon I could have gotten away with it.
Wow!! Very beautiful landscape. Thanks for sharing these amazing views! 👍4
@@KhurshidsChannel Thanks. I'm glad I was able to get great drone footage. It's a beautiful area. Thanks for watching.
Wow big desert
@@vs123 Yes it is. Beautiful area. I had a lot of fun exploring the area and got some great drone footage.

@@angieroyall1516 Most of my music is pretty chill. I was trying something a bit different in this video. Thanks for the feedback.
EXCELLENT
@@angieroyall1516 Thank you. I had a lot of fun on that one. One of my favorite forests to hike through.
Another flawless day out on the coast…the drone is the perfect tool for capturing the expansive drama of those fantastic coastal panoramas…well done!
@@stevecopenhaver6152 I was so glad to have such great weather. The drone is one of the best investments I've made. Love that thing. Thanks for watching.
The beach is incredibly beautiful!

I love the PNW coast. I'm glad it was such a beautiful day out and I was able to get great drone footage. Thanks for watching.
I like beach and shacks
I love that I live in a place that has beaches.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Appreciate the love. Unfortunately I couldn't get the drone footage I wanted because of the severe high winds but I'll have future videos with incredible footage you just can't get on a hike without one. Thanks for watching.
@ Yes sir it’s a thing I struggle with in my flights for sure! ❤️❤️❤️
@@TrailStrider909 I'll be more careful from now on. Not worth the risk.
The high ridges above the Columbia offer up some spectacular panoramas-on both the Washington and Oregon sides…really beautiful hike…bad feeling when you think you might lose your drone…glad you were able to bring it back home. Thanks for sharing another great trip!
Thank you. The panic that sets in when the high wind alert goes off is not fun. Once it goes down its over. It was quite windy that day but I really wanted to get some shots, especially since I carried it the whole way. But sometimes its just not worth risking it. At least I got some footage but I won't make that mistake again. I'll have more videos with incredible drone footage that you just can't capture on a hike without one. Stay tuned. As always, thanks for watching.
Great sitting spot at 4:55. Marvelous views at the end. Very nice!
That was a perfect spot to take a break. It was so windy out that it was actually hard for me to keep my camera steady in my hand. But I'm happy with the shots I got. I got a bit greedy with the drone though. I carried it the entire way and wanted some shots but when the high wind alert went off the panic that sets in is not fun. I won't make that mistake again. There is no second chance once it goes down unless it's close to you. At least I got some good footage. Overall, it was a great hike.
Your video was truly beautiful and inspiring. As a fellow creator, I appreciate the effort you put into it. 👍8
Thanks for the kind words. I do my best to put out a great video. It's a lot of work as you know. More of my videos will have drone footage so I hope you enjoy. Thanks for watching and the like.
Agreed, one of the most difficult 30-mile hikes out there. But there are those who get it done in a day!
@@Beertownbill Yes, that's true. I did see a bunch of trail runners along the trail. That's quite a feat.
Love that trail. Done it more than a dozen times, both CW and CCW. I've camped at Ramona, but prefer a stealth spot near the Muddy Fork. Love camping at Cloud Camp. I've camped in that exact spot at Newton Creek!
More than a dozen times? That is awesome. I bet every time feels just as awesome as the first go-around. I camped in-between Ramona and Muddy Fork first night close to the creek. Cloud Cap was cool because you got the picnic tables. That's definitely a nice spot after Newton creek. Do you prefer CW or CCW?
Absolutely loved the sweeping 4K drone shots of Cape Lookout! You captured the stunning beauty of the Oregon Coast perfectly-makes me want to explore it all over again!
@@Zoomdak Thank you for the kind words. I'm happy I was able to get some nice shots as the sun was setting. I'll have a video on Cannon Beach soon and the shots I got were amazing. The Oregon Coast is awesome.
I'm eventually moving to the PNW and I'd like to know is it safe to hike alone?
@@LeafEater607 That's great. You're gonna love it here. I've hiked alone all over the PNW and it is very safe. Never had a problem or scary story to tell. No sasquatch sightings either.
@@PacificNWHiker What about wild life? Snakes etc? What do you do if you break your leg or something?
@@LeafEater607 I would either make some friends who like to hike or if you really want to hike alone I would start off doing some popular trails that are moderately to heavily trafficked. This way if anything happens there will be other hikers to help out. Then when you get more confident you can start doing trails less busy. Another option is to get a Garmin inReach which enables you to send messages SOS alerts, and location tracking via satellite. Yes, there are snakes, but they are central and eastern Oregon/Washington where it is more desert-like. Other than that, I have personally never come across other dangerous wildlife.
@@PacificNWHiker Thank You so much for this vital information. The Garmin tip is literally a lifesaver. I appreciate you.
Great preview of lookout. All the close up greenery shots were nice.
Thank you. Wish it wasn't so hazy out but it is what it is. Those are some of my favorite shots to do. Moss is awesome. I'll have a video on Cannon Beach soon and the drone views I got were amazing. It was a clear day with no haze. Thanks for watching.
Well done here good to see you again big thumbs up enjoy the weekend 👉🏻👉🏻👍🏻👍🏻👌🏻
@@TravelHungryForLife Thank you. Glad you enjoyed the video.
There were some really interesting looking trees on that hike. Fantastic views of the ocean. Beauty!
@@waterfallmadman Yeah there were some trees with lots of exposed roots which made them interesting. I'm glad I was able to get some good drone shots as the sun was setting. I'll have a video on Cannon Beach coming soon. Spoiler alert: even better drone shots.

Sweet!…love all the close ups of mosses and fungi-some very interesting looking berries that I can’t identify as well as beautiful, expansive views of the coast… thanks for sharing another great hike.
@stevecopenhaver6152 Thank you. Those close up shots are some of my favorites to do. Moss is awesome. I wish it wasn't hazy out during my hike but it was better later in the day and I was able to get nice shots with the drone. I'll have another video on the coast with clear skies and no haze. Is the fire 🔥 that destroyed those 🌳 trees from that brat from Washington in Sep. 2017?
Yes. It was this trail where the 15 year-old brat playing with fireworks started the fire. Judge gave no punishment except to write an apology letter. Fire jumped the river into Washington which is crazy. Trail was closed for years. I'm happy the trail was able to reopen. It is amazing. Thanks for watching.
This place was my playground every years, 20 miles in 20 miles out
@@Pinoy4Trump An awesome playground it is. I had a blast on that trail and looking forward to doing it many times over. Thanks for watching.
@@PacificNWHiker I suggest three sisters loop it's quiet amazing also and summit south sister while your at it. Great stuff!

One more thing PCT hikers hangout at (Matthew's Lake) hehehehehe
Did you have to get a permit to stay along the trail? If so, who did you contact to request a permit? And what time of year did you do this hike? Thanks. Loved the video!
@@crismccoy6513 Glad you liked the video. You don't need a permit at all which is really nice. It can be a very crowded trail during the weekend. Highly recommend you go during weekday just to avoid the crowds and easier parking as well. I went early September. Some waterfalls aren't flowing full strength but they are still flowing. One of the best trails in the PNW for sure. Thanks for watching.
@@PacificNWHiker Thank you so much for the info!
@@crismccoy6513 No problem. Enjoy the hike.
Such an amazing hike! The waterfalls along the Eagle Creek Trail are absolutely breathtaking, and walking behind Tunnel Falls must have been such a cool experience. You captured the beauty of the trail perfectly, and now I’m inspired to check it out myself. Thanks for sharing this adventure!
@@Zoomdak Thanks for the compliment. It's such an amazing trail. I had a blast. Tunnel Falls was definitely the highlight. Some of the other Falls like Twister Falls weren't flowing at full strength so they are even more spectacular later in the season. Highly recommend you do this one. Thanks for watching.
I didn't get to do much hiking, but I went to Multnomah Falls in July 2018, right after it opened back up after the fire. We had great timing a few days earlier, and we'd have missed it like we missed other waterfalls that were on a road still closed. It's disgusting that someone would do such an act of terror on wildlife and people. I know people were trapped on some of those trails 👣 when the fire broke out. I'm so glad that the brat got caught. A lot of people's once in a lifetime trip was ruined. We stayed by the Bridge of the God's ❤. It's beautiful 😍 there.
@@ConnieHatch-zl9fp Yep, a bunch of trails along the Gorge were closed. I moved to the PNW in 2020 and some trails were just reopening. 2018 was not a good time for people wanting to hike along the Gorge. I agree, it is awful what happened to the wildlife, forest, and hikers. The punishment was pathetic by the judge. Bridge of the Gods is iconic. Cascade Locks is great. A lot of good trails there.
Love that hike. So many waterfalls. Lots of devastation from the fire though. Really cool place to camp as well.
@@waterfallmadman It's such an amazing trail. You just don't get that anywhere else. After years I finally got to it. So happy. Yes, lots of devastation from the 2017 fire. But without the burn marks on the trees you wouldn't know. I figured if I was gonna do that hike and camp might as well go all the way. Glad I did. Thanks for watching the video.
Now this is truly a must see!
@@TrailStrider909 The entire trail was awesome. I wouldn't use a title for click-bait and I knew this trail would live up to it. I had a blast making this video. Thanks for checking it out. Glad you liked it.
@@PacificNWHiker Sure thing! That was something that piped out thumbnail then delivery! Very nice!

@@vs123 For sure. One of the best trails I've done. Super beautiful and fun. Thanks for watching
Nice video. Watched twice! Nice trail. Can't wait to go! Thanks!
@@digitalSixer Definitely do this trail. Trail is very rocky and the second half is all uphill but so worth it with all the waterfalls, the creek, and lake. One of my favorite trails. Enjoy it.
Would love to do the same trail!! I’m so heartbroken over the forest fires that destroyed so much and happy so see that there is no total damage on this beautiful trail 😍❤️
The trail is beautiful and there are only some sections overlooking the forest that you can see were damaged by fire. But luckily this trail is not near the Gorge where the 2017 fire was devastating. I'll be releasing a video on the Eagle Creek Trail soon where the 2017 fire started. Trail looks great and still super beautiful. Highly recommend you do the Timberline. There's a reason it's a bucket list hike. Thanks for watching.
Very interesting landscape. Nice hike!
Thanks. It's totally different. I prefer the lush forests with waterfalls but it is nice every once in a while to hike something different.
Could you recommend any sights between Portland and Sahalie Falls to break up the drive a bit?
From I-5 there are two routes you can take (22 E or 20 E) to see Sahalie and Koosah Falls. I can recommend two other waterfalls with short easy hikes to see on the way to Sahalie and Koosah to help break things up a bit. The first is Shellburg Falls in the Santiam State Forest. This is about halfway. Take I-5 to route 22 E for about 20 miles. Then you go north off of 22 E for a few miles. You can search Shellburg Falls campground and the trailhead is there. The trail is only 1.5 miles. After Shellburg Falls you just continue on route 22 E to 126 S to Sahalie and Koosah. The second option is Lower Soda Creek Falls. Take I-5 to route 20 E and head to Cascadia State Park near Sweet Home. This trail is also very short 1.4 miles. Beautiful trail but beware the Falls may be a trickle this time of year so it depends on when you plan on going to Sahalie and Koosah. Beautiful waterfall if you go during rainy season. I think I have a video on this one. This waterfall is a bit closer to Sahalie and Koosah, maybe about 2/3 of the way. You just continue on 20 E to 126 S to the other Falls. Hope this helps. These are the two best options I can think of for something short and easy on the way.
Looks like an excellent hike in totally PNW weather!
@@Zoomdak Yes. Typical. I don't mind it but it's a pain when you're trying to film. Rainy season is on its way so I'm soaking up every bit of sun that I can. Thanks for watching.
SE Oregon is not like Eastern or Western Oregon ;-) We even catch the corner of the Great Basin!
@@russellzauner That's true. It is a part of the Great Basin which makes SE Oregon different. I prefer the lush forests and waterfalls but some people prefer desert mountain ranges with a lot of sagebrush.
I have never been to Oregon. Would you like to be my guide if I decide to visit? I love hiking and seeing waterfalls.
@@tietan867 I think I would make a great tour guide. Oregon is a great place to visit or take a backpacking trip. So much to see and do in the PNW. Thanks for watching.
Scanery is very beautiful place
@@vs123 Indeed. It's such a different landscape compared to the Western side. I prefer the lush green forests and waterfalls but the desert is also beautiful in its own way. Thanks for watching.
The rainshadow of the Cascades amazes me. To the west is green and wet. To the east is dry, desert, with huge ponderosa pines adapted to that climate.
@@pyronymph-868 It's such a stark contrast. The different landscapes make the PNW special. I prefer the lush forests and waterfalls but the desert with the hills and cliffs are also beautiful. Thanks for watching.
