Cleaning a budgie's nostrils at Bird Vet Melbourne
Cere hypertrophy is something that we see commonly at Bird Vet Melbourne. It's not actually snot, but a buildup of material across the nostrils that can become so big that it actually blocks the birds nostrils.
This little female budgie came in to the clinic because its owner had noticed it frantically scratching at itself. Part of the scratching behaviour that she was observing was actually the bird scratching at the bottom of her cage (nest building behaviour). She was also showing discomfort with her ability to breathe due to the blocked nostrils.
Avian vet, Dr. Phil Sacks explains the process as he works to make it easier for her to breathe and deals with some of the nutritional and ina...

Ducklings. Malnourished. Can't walk. Will they live?
Просмотров 16621 день назад
These 4 ducklings are 4 weeks old. Their owner bought them as chicks from a breeder. The breeder advised that they were too small to eat normal duck pellets and told the owner to feed them oats and rice. Unfortunately, this advice was terrible. The diet was inadequate for a growing baby bird. Ducks in particular need niacin in their diet and a range of other vitamins and minerals. A good qualit...

Ducklings of this age, do not have a high survival rate if kept on their own, which explains the urgency of a midnight ...

His owner wondered if a mouse had something to do with it, his cage mate is a suspect but in hospital we noticed he was doing some damage himself too. In this vi...

Chicken means female people. Roosters are male
Why did you not wear any gloves 😅
Thank you for showing a simple, practical method for dealing with cere hypertrophy in budgies. I've missed your educational videos over the last several months during the recent hiatus. Please know they are greatly appreciated!

Hi. I live in the UK and I'm a volunteer for our local wildlife rescue and I happen to specifically rehab/raise wild and domestic pigeons. It really touched me how thorough and gentle you treated 'Pete'! It warmed my heart to see such care being taken, instead of the usual disdainful 'it's just another rat with wings'..... So THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for taking such good care of him xxxx
