  • Abandoning ducks in local parklands and at community lakes is a growing problem. Last week, we brought you the story of a Pekin Duck called Wallis who was recently rescued and brought for treatment to Bird Vet Melbourne.
In this video, we find out what has happened to Wallis since we left off and there is a surprise twist.
Dave from New Life For Animals Rehoming Centre tells us that Wallis was actually abandoned along with his girlfriend. Since Wallis was rescued, Chassis has found life very difficult at the lake, being bullied and hurt by other ducks. Fortunately for Chassis, Dave isn't afraid of water!
Check out what happened and see the amazing rescue.

Dr. Sacks -- As a veterinarian, may I say how much I enjoy your videos, particularly those dealing with chickens, ducks and pigeons. Here in the States we have many avian specialists, but they primarily deal with high-priced psittacine species. It is refreshing and inspirational to see someone offering compassionate and very basic medical care to "low-value" bird species whose only usual contact with a veterinarian is with one who is a poultry pathologist. I've learned more from your videos about the practical aspects of handling reproductive tract disorders in hens than from all the books and CE courses I've consulted. It's nice to see how much can be done without the routine aid of chem. panels, CT scans, and sonograms. The kind of inexpensive, unpretentious, very basic but life-saving medicine that the average backyard poultry enthusiast is looking for and can afford. Please keep those videos coming, they are much appreciated!

Did you check if the ducks are related? If they came from the same place, that is a possibility.
