  • Klinger is a Cayuga Duck that lives with Practice Manager, Mel Vincent. Klinger was dumped in a park as a baby when he/she was only a couple of days old. Mel was called to MASH (a 24 hr clinic) at around midnight in early November 2023, to pick up the very distressed duckling. Ducklings of this age, do not have a high survival rate if kept on their own, which explains the urgency of a midnight collection.
Klinger bonded very closely with Mel and has become a favourite at Bird Vet Melbourne with both staff and clients with his/her antics when joining Mel at work or at events the clinic attend.
Klinger is well-known for snatching credit cards or cash from clients when they pay for vet services and for helping comfort those who have had to euthanise a pet.
Klinger makes friends when kayaking with Mel, or when shopping at Bunnings for more pond supplies.
Now that Klinger is reaching 6 months of age... Klinger has been stealing socks and cat toys and building a nest under Mel's bed. Which has made Mel wonder if Klinger might be a girl? However Klinger has also been known for trying to climb on chickens at events (and has had to be separated for this behaviour to protect the chickens). So boy or girl????
Well there are different health conditions that can come up based on gender, so Mel opted for a DNA blood test to find out...
The results are in and the staff hid the certificate from Mel and decided to do a gender reveal.
As usual, unexpected things happen, so apart from the result of the gender reveal... there's a surprise at the end of the video.

YASS 🎉 I guessed correctly, because she just held feminine gal vibes to my eye. Yeah. 💃 💃 💃 Happy vacation darling whilst the other male patient is in the veterinary residence. 😅 Gotta say I enjoy the BTS. 👍 Cheers 🌼

Glad you're back, it's been quite a while since your last video. Your posts are enjoyed and missed when they appear so irregularly. You are a prime source for teaching practical approaches to avian veterinary care.
